:00:55. > :00:58.If we don't look after the fish, we haven't got any fishing
:00:59. > :01:00.so the people that are smuggling and taking them abroad,
:01:01. > :01:06.Because eels and elvers are endangered, and because the appetite
:01:07. > :01:09.for them in China and the Far East is so large, export
:01:10. > :01:19.But those who break the ban can make a lot of money.
:01:20. > :01:21.they will go to the elver station and we believe the current
:01:22. > :01:25.price is ?150 per kilo, but the important thing
:01:26. > :01:29.is the elvers being sent to Asia can be worth as much as ?6,000 per kilo
:01:30. > :01:34.so that's what makes this attractive for smuggling, if you like,
:01:35. > :01:40.This is the UK's first large-scale elver smuggling bust
:01:41. > :01:45.Hidden under legal fish, three trays of elvers with a street
:01:46. > :01:52.More expensive than beluga caviar, they were destined for Hong Kong.
:01:53. > :01:59.It spoils it for everybody, because no doubt there will put some
:02:00. > :02:02.restrictions on it and then we all suffer, including the fish.
