:00:12. > :00:14.getting reaction from staff at a manufacturing firm.

:00:15. > :00:21.What's important for us is to make sure they have cross-bench support

:00:22. > :00:24.with Labour and it doesn't change every four years when we

:00:25. > :00:26.More than 1,000 miles across Antarctica.

:00:35. > :00:45.As soon as I lost, thoughts turned to home and getting back.

:00:46. > :00:48.It's been a long time out here and I'm ready to go home now.

:00:49. > :01:02.The Prime Minister and her cabinet are meeting in Cheshire this

:01:03. > :01:03.lunchtime, discussing proposals for a new industrial

:01:04. > :01:08.strategy after Britain leaves the European Union.

:01:09. > :01:11.They want to tailor policies to suit different sectors of the economy,

:01:12. > :01:13.with a focus on boosting training in technical skills,

:01:14. > :01:21.The industrail stategy we will be committing to driving very hard,

:01:22. > :01:24.to spread the opportunities right across the country, and to drive not

:01:25. > :01:26.just jobs but really good, well-paying jobs in all part

:01:27. > :01:37.It's going to be a big part of our strategy.

:01:38. > :01:39.Our Business Correspondent Peter Plisner is at a company

:01:40. > :01:41.in Birmingham that has already expanded and is looking

:01:42. > :01:51.ahead to further growth under the new strategy.

:01:52. > :02:00.Here, they make warning lights and sirens. They have expanded taking on

:02:01. > :02:04.new workers and moving into a new factory. Will the strategy help or

:02:05. > :02:11.hinder? What do you think of the strategy we have seen? As far as it

:02:12. > :02:17.goes, it is great. We need crossbench support. 15 or 20 years,

:02:18. > :02:21.otherwise we can't plan on that. It allows us to invest long-term.

:02:22. > :02:26.Hundreds of thousands of pounds for plant and machinery. If we know very

:02:27. > :02:31.far in ten years' time, we will commit to it. Would you expect the

:02:32. > :02:40.industrial strategy to deliver grants for companies? It would be a

:02:41. > :02:42.great help. We are all a bit worried about Brexit and what happens after

:02:43. > :02:49.believe the European Union. Do you think an industrial strategy is the

:02:50. > :03:01.right way to go? Essential. It needs to include the whole country, all

:03:02. > :03:05.the nations and regions. Does the strategy help the country? It is

:03:06. > :03:12.planning for equipment, capacity, if we know when we are going to be in

:03:13. > :03:19.ten years, we can invest to sit at and hit those targets. Thank you.

:03:20. > :03:24.Many feel something like this is needed. And developing more skills

:03:48. > :03:50.smashed into a bridge, The crash happened at around half

:03:51. > :03:54.past seven near Blake Street station, in the Sutton Coldfield

:03:55. > :03:56.area, disrupting services on the Cross City line,

:04:17. > :04:31.a team from the Midlands has conquered the snowy splendour

:04:32. > :04:35.of the Antarctic. Among them, Doctor Jamie Facer-

:04:36. > :04:37.Childs based at Queen Elizabeth This morning, his sister

:04:38. > :04:52.in Selly Oak was able to congratulate her brother

:04:53. > :05:07.as she received a call How is your body feeling? It is

:05:08. > :05:13.holding up, that is the main thing. Not how I felt before we started. We

:05:14. > :05:15.have got something right in what we have got something right in what we

:05:16. > :05:18.have done. In just over two months,

:05:19. > :05:21.Jamie and his five fellow army reservists have crossed

:05:22. > :05:22.Antarctica on foot. Their team Spear 17 often having

:05:23. > :05:34.to endure whiteout conditions. What did you find the hardest? Just

:05:35. > :05:42.how cold it got sometimes. You're going along and your hands start to

:05:43. > :05:44.get freezing cold. You have your warmest gloves on and they are still

:05:45. > :05:51.called. Before going to Antarctica,

:05:52. > :05:55.Jamie and the team hoping their expedition

:06:18. > :06:21.in the Grand Slam was ended in four sets by the Frenchman Jo Wilfried

:06:22. > :06:23.Tsonga. Can you please welcome,

:06:24. > :06:27.from Great Britain, Dan Evans. The rise of Birmingham's Dan Evans

:06:28. > :06:36.has been one of the stories of this His French opponent

:06:37. > :06:43.Jo Wilfried Tsonga is the 12th seed and regularly reaches the latter

:06:44. > :06:45.stages of Grand Slams. The first set went to

:06:46. > :06:53.a tiebreak and Evans won it. The opening game of

:06:54. > :06:58.the second set was an epic. But Tsonga finally broke

:06:59. > :07:01.the Evans serve and with it The Frenchman soon

:07:02. > :07:04.levelled the match, Although Evans continued

:07:05. > :07:11.to fight hard, he said That the efforts of the past

:07:12. > :07:17.fortnight were catching up with him. Evans just couldn't break

:07:18. > :07:22.the Frenchman's serve, and after nearly three hours

:07:23. > :07:24.of tennis, Tsonga was So Evans didn't quite reach

:07:25. > :07:27.the quarter-finals but he's enjoyed What's happened here has

:07:28. > :07:31.been a hell of a ride. As soon as I lost, thoughts turned

:07:32. > :07:34.to home and getting back. It's been a long time out

:07:35. > :07:37.here and I'm ready to go home now. Dan Evans has savoured his time

:07:38. > :07:40.in Australia, even taking in some big bash cricket with free tickets

:07:41. > :07:44.from Kevin Pieterson, He is still only 26 and he will now

:07:45. > :07:50.get invitations to the best Life may never be

:07:51. > :07:57.the same for Dan Evans. Plenty of cloud around as we make

:07:58. > :08:04.our way through the next few hours. That is kind of a theme

:08:05. > :08:10.for early on this week. Some fog thrown into the mix as well

:08:11. > :08:13.certainly as we make our way But generally dry and

:08:14. > :08:21.occasionally bright as well. So it's actually an

:08:22. > :08:23.improvement on last week. As far as this afternoon goes,

:08:24. > :08:26.you can see a lot of cloud around. At times, the cloud will

:08:27. > :08:29.thin and break to allow Temperatures, four or five,

:08:30. > :08:38.maybe 6 degrees at absolute best. Overnight tonight and into the early

:08:39. > :08:41.hours of Tuesday morning, an awful lot of fog building

:08:42. > :08:44.into the picture. First thing tomorrow morning,

:08:45. > :08:46.visibility on the roads Some freezing fog patches thrown

:08:47. > :08:58.into the mix as well. Keep across your local BBC radio

:08:59. > :09:00.stations for the latest on the travel situation

:09:01. > :09:02.in the morning. The fog could take a while to clear,

:09:03. > :09:05.but once it does we are in for a generally fine,

:09:06. > :09:07.dry and cloudy afternoon. Temperatures again around

:09:08. > :09:09.five or 6 degrees. That is very much the way

:09:10. > :09:11.on Wednesday as well. Albeit with probably more sunshine

:09:12. > :09:16.and blue sky thrown into the mix. There is all that nasty wet

:09:17. > :09:20.and windy stuff they are. There is all that nasty wet
