:00:00. > :00:08.The village of Eastham in Worcestershire is a step closer

:00:09. > :00:10.to having its own bridge again this evening.

:00:11. > :00:13.The Grade II listed Eastham bridge collapsed in May last year,

:00:14. > :00:17.from the main Worcester to Tenbury Wells road.

:00:18. > :00:19.Today, though, steel beams were lowered into place

:00:20. > :00:38.Today is the first time a structure has crossed this part of the river

:00:39. > :00:45.since the sudden and dramatic collapse of Eastham Bridge last May.

:00:46. > :00:48.These 33 metre, 84 tonne steel beams are the backbone of the long-awaited

:00:49. > :00:52.new bridge. Major milestone in the project today. It is the left of two

:00:53. > :00:55.braced appears obscure beams across the river. -- steel beams. It is the

:00:56. > :00:57.first step to getting the bridge as we know it up and running. Once the

:00:58. > :01:34.beams are in possession, we are able to building up the bridge deck

:01:35. > :01:37.and then the access roads, so in a couple of months we should have it

:01:38. > :01:40.open to traffic. It is welcome news for the villagers. We farm either

:01:41. > :01:42.side of the river so we have had a tremendous detours for months,

:01:43. > :01:45.to the other side unless we do the to the other side unless we do the

:01:46. > :01:48.ten mile detour through either temporary or Stanford. What matters

:01:49. > :01:50.is the cold and rainy day here but people have gathered and the

:01:51. > :01:52.atmosphere is one of excitement as they see the first steps of bringing

:01:53. > :01:56.the community back together. It has been a long road. We have had ten

:01:57. > :01:58.miles round up as a beach towns of today we are very excited and

:01:59. > :02:01.looking forward to seeing it happen. I am excited because it is going to

:02:02. > :02:02.be shorter journey to school night. No excuses for being late!

:02:03. > :02:04.Residents of a small village affected by HS2

:02:05. > :02:06.say they're planning to fight it all the way.

:02:07. > :02:08.Dozens turned out to show their opposition to the plans.

:02:09. > :02:11.The village of Packington on the edge of North Warwickshire

:02:12. > :02:13.of the proposed high speed rail line.

:02:14. > :02:16.Today, the sound of trains was blasted through speakers

:02:17. > :02:18.and tall flags showed the height of the line.

:02:19. > :02:23.It is going to go up the sides of two double-decker buses with a rain

:02:24. > :02:26.on top, so it is going to be very high. And it is the whole of this

:02:27. > :02:28.particular street that we live in, Millstreet, we are going to get a

:02:29. > :02:30.rain every three minutes and that is going to be from six o'clock in the

:02:31. > :02:33.morning to 11 o'clock at night. West Mercia Police

:02:34. > :02:35.have begun an investigation after two bodies were found in

:02:36. > :02:37.a disused building in Oswestry. Police were called to the building

:02:38. > :02:40.on Maesbury Road in the town yesterday evening, and found

:02:41. > :02:43.the bodies of a man and a woman. The deaths are being

:02:44. > :02:45.treated as unexplained. In the Premier League,

:02:46. > :02:49.goals from Craig Dawson and Gareth McAuley gave West Brom

:02:50. > :02:54.a 2-1 victory against Bournemouth. In the Championship, Aston Villa

:02:55. > :02:56.have won for the first time since Boxing Day, to ease

:02:57. > :02:59.their relegation fears. They beat Derby 1-0 with a goal

:03:00. > :03:03.from James Chester. It's a sad story in League One,

:03:04. > :03:06.where there were defeats for Walsall, Coventry,

:03:07. > :03:09.Shrewsbury and Port Vale. And at the bottom of League Two,

:03:10. > :03:12.Cheltenham have boosted their chances of avoiding relegation

:03:13. > :03:16.by beating Leyton Orient. In the National League,

:03:17. > :03:18.Solihull Moors were beaten Worcester were beaten at Northampton

:03:19. > :03:24.in Rugby Union's Premiership. The West Midlands' two

:03:25. > :03:29.Netball Super League teams are playing in a Super Ten event

:03:30. > :03:33.at the Genting Arena in Birmingham. Earlier, Severn Stars were beaten

:03:34. > :03:44.by Loughborough Lightning. Now, before the weather,

:03:45. > :03:46.have a look at this. It's probably the oldest

:03:47. > :03:48.building in the world Parts of the building in Shrewsbury

:03:49. > :03:53.date back to the 12th Century. It's been rather a dull day

:03:54. > :04:15.across the Midlands today. Good evening. Well, it has certainly

:04:16. > :04:20.been windy today. We saw gusts up to 33 mph in parts of the region today.

:04:21. > :04:23.As we head to enter tomorrow, we will keep that breeze. It will ease

:04:24. > :04:29.for a time tonight. Still some showers working our way across us.

:04:30. > :04:32.At times, heavy downpours. With the cloud, and a few holes in it through

:04:33. > :04:46.into the early hours of tomorrow morning, we could see some mist

:04:47. > :04:49.patches. We start on a mild and not tomorrow but it is not going to last

:04:50. > :04:52.for too long. Plenty of cloud in the next. There might be the odd bright

:04:53. > :04:54.spell before the next area of rain works and from the West. Double

:04:55. > :04:55.figures. Temperatures up to 11 Celsius. Breezy and turning colder

:04:56. > :04:55.enter next week. Before we go, a reminder that

:04:56. > :04:58.Patrick Burns will be here with the Sunday Politics

:04:59. > :05:00.tomorrow from 11 o'clock. Patrick will be joined by the winner

:05:01. > :05:15.of the Stoke Central Good evening. Starting with a quick

:05:16. > :05:20.look at the satellite sequence from earlier. We started under a big

:05:21. > :05:24.blanket of cloud but Scotland and Northern Ireland brightened up as

:05:25. > :05:28.the day went off. Underneath the cloud in England and Wales, quite a

:05:29. > :05:33.bit of rain at the moment, drifting southwards and East. It will

:05:34. > :05:37.continue to do so. In the small hours the rain will become patchy,

:05:38. > :05:42.and most will give way to the continent. There will be some

:05:43. > :05:47.breaks, particularly to the East of Scotland, where there could be a

:05:48. > :05:50.touch of frost. Next batch of rain into the western side of Scotland

:05:51. > :05:54.first thing, moving east with a little snow over higher ground.

:05:55. > :05:59.Another pulse of rain coming towards the Irish Sea area and with that

:06:00. > :06:05.comes really strong winds, blowing a gale, and into Scotland it could get

:06:06. > :06:10.to 50, 60 mph. A lot of rain to go with that but not too much for East

:06:11. > :06:12.Anglia and the south-east, relatively mild. Double digits
