:00:23. > :00:30.They came with a marching band, their placards and the determination

:00:31. > :00:36.Health bosses have recommended the county has just one

:00:37. > :00:41.But this would mean major changes to the services

:00:42. > :00:44.at the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford.

:00:45. > :00:46.There are hundreds of people here today to show solidarity

:00:47. > :00:49.and support to keep the 24-hour, seven day a week accident

:00:50. > :00:52.and emergency department and the fully functioning

:00:53. > :00:57.And we're not being fooled or misled by those people who say

:00:58. > :01:00.we're going to keep a women's and children's centre at Telford.

:01:01. > :01:03.The protest was organised by Telford and Wrekin Council.

:01:04. > :01:07.People who live in the area share the council leaders' concerns.

:01:08. > :01:10.This facility is here and should remain here,

:01:11. > :01:13.and is a great benefit to this community.

:01:14. > :01:16.What we need for our hospital is more funding

:01:17. > :01:21.But Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust say the proposed

:01:22. > :01:24.emergency centre would be 50% larger than the current A

:01:25. > :01:31.There would also be accident and urgent care centres at both

:01:32. > :01:35.hospitals, which would be open 24 hours a day.

:01:36. > :01:38.Local MPs Lucy Allen and Mark Pritchard have suggested

:01:39. > :01:40.that Telford will keep the women's and children's unit,

:01:41. > :01:46.Around 900 people turned out for this protest today,

:01:47. > :01:53.No final decision has been made on the proposals, and there will be

:01:54. > :02:02.A Gloucestershire Regiment veteran who fought at the

:02:03. > :02:05.Battle of Imjin River during the Korean War has today handed over an

:02:06. > :02:11.Private Sam Mercer survived the Glosters' epic stand of 1951,

:02:12. > :02:17.After the war he was presented with a rare book, listing those

:02:18. > :02:23.He's now donated it to the Soldiers of Gloucestershire Museum.

:02:24. > :02:26.He reflected on how he survived the battle.

:02:27. > :02:33.Bloody mindedness and a very large slice of Lady Luck.

:03:13. > :03:15.Champagne has it, Jersey Royals have it, now the green spears

:03:16. > :03:17.from the Vale of Evesham are being given

:03:18. > :03:20.the honour of European protected food status.

:03:21. > :03:23.We've always thought that it is the caviar of all vegetables,

:03:24. > :03:27.and now we've been officailly recognised for it.

:03:28. > :03:30.65% of UK asparagus is grown in the West Midlands,

:03:31. > :03:33.with demand for it rising every year.

:03:34. > :03:35.Asparagus is sold throughout the year,

:03:36. > :03:43.It's seasonal, on sale from St George's Day

:03:44. > :03:47.Asparagus is part of a horticultural

:03:48. > :03:51.sector which is worth millions for this region.

:03:52. > :03:53.It's the best asparagus in the world, I think.

:03:54. > :03:58.We're taking a big round of asparagus to Brussels to present

:03:59. > :04:01.to them and then they can try and see for themselves

:04:02. > :04:05.A delegation is travelling to the European Parliament

:04:06. > :04:08.tomorrow to offically thank the EU for what could be

:04:09. > :04:16.the last vegetable to be honoured before Brexit.
