:00:12. > :00:16.Good evening. Police say they are treating the murder of an Indian

:00:16. > :00:20.student in Salford on Boxing Day as a hate crime and have not ruled out

:00:20. > :00:23.a racial motive. Anuj Bidve was with a group of friends heading

:00:23. > :00:25.into Manchester when he was shot dead in the early hours of the

:00:25. > :00:30.morning. Police say they still haven't found the small handgun

:00:30. > :00:36.used in the shooting. Five people have now been arrested in

:00:37. > :00:43.connection with his death and are still being questioned this evening.

:00:43. > :00:47.We do not know whether it is a racially-motivated or not. But by

:00:47. > :00:51.definition, where there is a perception of racial hatred

:00:51. > :00:56.involved, we have to categorise it as a hatred incident. In a

:00:56. > :00:58.practical sense, right from the beginning, it has always been a

:00:58. > :01:02.possibility that we have investigated that it could have

:01:02. > :01:05.been racially-motivated and we are not ruling that out.

:01:05. > :01:09.The family of a Merseyside woman missing after a hiking trip in

:01:09. > :01:12.Lanzarote has flown to the Canary Islands to help the search for her.

:01:12. > :01:19.Margaret Holt who's 65 and from the Wirral hasn't been seen for almost

:01:19. > :01:24.a week. Here's Nina Warhurst. The search teams using helicopters,

:01:24. > :01:28.sniffer dog, and a growing team of volunteers, but still no sign of

:01:28. > :01:36.Margaret Holt. The 65 year-old with a passion for coastal walks has not

:01:36. > :01:41.been seen for six days now, and concern is growing. TRANSLATION: We

:01:41. > :01:45.started the search at 7 o'clock this morning, from the foot of the

:01:45. > :01:49.volcano in the town where Margaret was last seen in the late afternoon.

:01:49. > :01:53.She was not on the last bus out. These posters are being handed out

:01:53. > :01:59.across the island. A businessman who runs an English website says

:01:59. > :02:02.that live on the island has temporarily been put on hold.

:02:02. > :02:09.have 17 dormant volcanoes on the island, so the trails are rough

:02:09. > :02:13.with very little rain, so they are dusty with volcanic rock. If you

:02:13. > :02:19.fall off the trail in Lanzarote, you can't fall onto very hard rocks,

:02:19. > :02:22.knock yourself out and break bones quite easily. -- you can fall.

:02:22. > :02:31.Margaret was just wearing a vest, shorts and sandals and her passport

:02:31. > :02:35.and cards had been left in her hotel room. Her family will now

:02:35. > :02:38.joined the search in the hope that there is more good news to come.

:02:38. > :02:40.Meanwhile, a man from Preston who's wanted by Lancashire police has

:02:40. > :02:43.been arrested in Tenerife. Daniel Billington is wanted for

:02:43. > :02:46.questioning about a serious assault and for breaking the conditions of

:02:46. > :02:48.his parole. He was stopped by police on the island during a

:02:48. > :02:51.routine check on Christmas Eve. He's now in prison, awaiting

:02:51. > :02:54.extradition. A dog has been shot dead as it was

:02:54. > :02:56.being walked by its owner in Cumbria. Police say the miniature

:02:56. > :02:59.Labradoodle was shot for no apparent reason at Birkrigg Common

:02:59. > :03:02.in Urswick on Boxing Day. It's a popular place for dog walkers near

:03:02. > :03:07.Ulverston and Police are appealing for witnesses who may have seen

:03:07. > :03:12.either a white Ford Transit or a Land Rover near the car park.

:03:12. > :03:15.Alcohol abuse is costing the NHS in the North West 500 million a year.

:03:15. > :03:19.The figures have been highlighted by NHS Cumbria to persuade people

:03:19. > :03:25.to drink more sensibly. Alcohol consumption increases by 40% over

:03:25. > :03:29.the festive period. The date has been set for a

:03:29. > :03:33.marathon in Preston next year. The race will go ahead on 28th October

:03:33. > :03:37.as part of the city's Guild celebrations. Local long distance

:03:37. > :03:40.runner Helen Clitheroe launched the celebrations earlier this year.

:03:40. > :03:45.It's the first time a marathon has been held as part of the Guild

:03:45. > :03:48.events. Crews are still damping down at the

:03:48. > :03:51.scene of a blaze near Leyland in Lancashire more than a week after

:03:51. > :03:59.it started. The fire at the Lancashire Enterprise Park has

:03:59. > :04:02.caused millions of pounds' worth of damage as Ian Haslam reports. It

:04:02. > :04:08.was one of the biggest fires and Lancashire for a decade, and it is

:04:08. > :04:12.still not fully out. Last week this building was the base of a family

:04:12. > :04:16.run distribution company. Now it is destroyed. I have never seen

:04:16. > :04:20.anything quite like it in my life. It was huge and it engulfed the

:04:20. > :04:24.whole building. There were flames that whatever height they were. It

:04:25. > :04:29.was incredible to see and witness. We have been in this facility for

:04:30. > :04:36.17 years. It is part of Lancashire's heritage. It is the

:04:36. > :04:41.old Leyland trucks site. It is tragic to see it in this position.

:04:42. > :04:46.The company's 155 square foot warehouse was one of five buildings

:04:46. > :04:50.devastated by the fire. Thankfully all staff were quickly evacuated

:04:51. > :04:53.and nobody was injured. But all of the customer stock was lost. From a

:04:54. > :04:58.financial point of view I would imagine the cost is into tens of

:04:58. > :05:02.millions of pounds as far as we're concerned to our customer. At its

:05:02. > :05:05.height, more than 100 firefighters battle to bring the blaze under

:05:05. > :05:12.control. Things are still far from back to normal and it is not known

:05:12. > :05:15.how long that will remain as the case.

:05:15. > :05:18.Football now and Blackburn Manager Steve Kean says he's optimistic he

:05:18. > :05:24.can strengthen the squad in January. That's despite annual losses

:05:24. > :05:27.reported at more than 18 million, up from 1.9 million the year before.

:05:27. > :05:35.At today's press conference the manager was confident he'd still

:05:35. > :05:40.have money to spend in the transfer window. Obviously there is money

:05:40. > :05:44.that has come into the club, no more so than Phil Jones going to

:05:44. > :05:53.Manchester United. There has been money coming in. We would like to

:05:53. > :05:56.think that we can keep the majority of the squad together.

:05:56. > :05:58.Wigan have won their appeal against Conor Sammon's red card during

:05:58. > :06:01.their Boxing Day defeat to Manchester United. The striker was

:06:01. > :06:11.shown a straight red after clashing with Michael Carrick in the first

:06:11. > :06:12.

:06:12. > :06:16.half. The appeal means Sammon is Now the weather. We have had a wild

:06:16. > :06:22.and windy spell over the last couple of days. This picture was

:06:22. > :06:26.sent in by David, near to Blackpool. It is not snow, it is spray from

:06:26. > :06:31.the sea, which was almost boiling over yesterday. It looks like a

:06:31. > :06:35.giant bubble bath, or a free car wash, depending on how you look at

:06:35. > :06:40.it. If you have got anything like that, we would love to see it, so

:06:40. > :06:47.send it in. We did not fare much better today because the winds have

:06:47. > :06:51.been dusting to 60 mph. They will calm down over the next couple of

:06:51. > :06:55.hours. We still have that showery regime which will last for another

:06:55. > :06:59.couple of hours. As the night progresses, the showers will die

:06:59. > :07:06.away and everything will settle down and everything will clear out.

:07:06. > :07:11.Temperatures will fall away in rural areas. There could be

:07:11. > :07:16.temperatures of three degrees, in towns and cities five and along the

:07:16. > :07:23.coast, six. It is not so much better tomorrow. The winds are

:07:23. > :07:26.lighter and suddenly, about 15 mph for most of last. But drizzle will

:07:26. > :07:31.start to work its way in and look at the picture after lunchtime.

:07:31. > :07:34.This is a big band of rain which will work its way in and sit over

:07:34. > :07:38.the top of us all the way through the afternoon. It will be fairly

:07:38. > :07:43.heavy from time to time, so don't be fault if you set out and it is
