:02:12. > :02:15.money. We are looking forward to it.

:02:16. > :02:19.We start tonight with some good jobs news today from Lancashire. BAE

:02:20. > :02:22.Systems seems set to announce a ?6 billion deal to supply the United

:02:23. > :02:25.Arab Emirates with dozens of Typhoon fighter jets. The news should be

:02:26. > :02:28.announced at the Dubai International Airshow on Sunday, helping to

:02:29. > :02:36.safeguard thousands of jobs at the company's two Lancashire factories.

:02:37. > :02:39.Mark Edwardson reports. Britain and the United Arab emirates

:02:40. > :02:42.have a long and close military relationship. Sources within BAE

:02:43. > :02:51.Systems say the initial deal with the UAE is for 60 Typhoons, maybe

:02:52. > :02:59.more. We are talking about ?6 billion worth of aircraft, a defence

:03:00. > :03:01.arrangement between the UK and the United Arab Emirates signed last

:03:02. > :03:03.year. This might well be the icing on the cake.

:03:04. > :03:06.A BAE Systems source says an official deal announcement could

:03:07. > :03:10.come as early as Sunday, the start of the air show, though there's been

:03:11. > :03:15.no official comment from the firm. Staff are delighted. Good news for

:03:16. > :03:19.engineering, technical, manufacturing, document, all manner

:03:20. > :03:23.of seeds involved. Human rights groups have accused the

:03:24. > :03:26.UAE of human rights abuses. David Cameron, who's on his way to the

:03:27. > :03:30.Gulf has said, "Their security is important for our security and this

:03:31. > :03:35.is vital for British jobs." And traders neighbouring the Warton

:03:36. > :03:41.plant say it's crucial for them too. All of the local businesses around

:03:42. > :03:46.here, it will generate something from BAE Systems getting this order.

:03:47. > :03:53.Is great. All the businesses, everyone, it is great news.

:03:54. > :03:56.The Red Arrows have been performing over Dubai ahead of the air show.

:03:57. > :03:59.They fly BAE's Hawk trainer jets, there's speculation they'll be

:04:00. > :04:02.needed too. And if the UAE deal s successful, other Gulf states may

:04:03. > :04:10.follow suit. Once this deal has been signed, it could allow BAE Systems

:04:11. > :04:14.to go onto find deals with Saudi Arabia and other countries in the

:04:15. > :04:18.region. There could be some more good news to come, a source within

:04:19. > :04:22.BAE Systems told us that if the deal goes through another with India that

:04:23. > :04:26.it thought it had lost to the French could be back on the cards.

:04:27. > :04:36.And they'll be looking at the state of the labour market in the region

:04:37. > :04:41.on this week's Sunday Politics. The latest rounds of council cuts are on

:04:42. > :04:44.the way and that means jobs. The Labour MP for Manchester Central and

:04:45. > :04:50.the Liberal Democrat MP for Cheadle will be here to discuss that. The

:04:51. > :04:53.unemployed figures, and the possibility of a combined authority

:04:54. > :04:55.for Mercy said. Drivers at 11am on Sunday.

:04:56. > :04:57.The Dean of Lancaster Cathedral s been convicted of historic sexual

:04:58. > :05:01.offences. Canon Stephen Shield has been found guilty of three offences

:05:02. > :05:07.of indecent assault against a man at Preston Crown Court. The abuse took

:05:08. > :05:11.place between 1985 and 1992. A male nurse has appeared in court

:05:12. > :05:13.accused of headbutting a patient at the Royal Blackburn hospital.

:05:14. > :05:17.53`year`old David Hadfield is charged with GBH. The hospital say

:05:18. > :05:22.he was immediately suspended following the alleged incident back

:05:23. > :05:25.in August. Airline Flybe plans to close its

:05:26. > :05:29.Isle of Man base from next April, making 49 of its 51 staff employed

:05:30. > :05:32.there redundant. The carrier says it will continue to fly in and out of

:05:33. > :05:35.the island's Ronaldsway Airport though. Flybe says the cuts are

:05:36. > :05:44.necessary to keep the company viable.

:05:45. > :05:47.Jimmy Savile's former flatmate and driver has appeared in court charged

:05:48. > :05:50.with a number of child sex offences. Ray Teret, an ex`DJ in Manchester,

:05:51. > :06:03.will face trial next year. Stuart Pollitt's report contains some flash

:06:04. > :06:06.photography. The air in the 1960s, the width and

:06:07. > :06:12.works together in Manchester for three years. Today, the former pilot

:06:13. > :06:17.radioed the GI that the Crown Court for the first time to face dozens of

:06:18. > :06:21.times of historical sexual offences covering for decades. In total, the

:06:22. > :06:26.72`year`old faces 32 child sex allegations. They include 16 charges

:06:27. > :06:32.of rape, attempted rape and indecent assault. The alleged victims are 14

:06:33. > :06:39.young girls and 117`year`old. The event are said to have happened

:06:40. > :06:41.between 1962 and 1996, primarily around greater Manchester. Although

:06:42. > :06:47.Reed Tebbit was closely associated with Jimmy Savile, none of the

:06:48. > :06:50.charges he faces are in any way linked to the former BBC presenter

:06:51. > :06:51.as DJ. Bitter Manchester police have

:06:52. > :06:57.stressed that there are investigation into him is in no way

:06:58. > :07:01.linked to the Metropolitan police investigation into Jimmy Savile

:07:02. > :07:06.He was gutted conditional bail and told the return on April 17. The

:07:07. > :07:15.court heard that he intended to plead not guilty and will face trial

:07:16. > :07:19.in October. A man and a women have died after a light aircraft died

:07:20. > :07:23.near Chester. The plane came down near the runway at the bus UK

:07:24. > :07:32.factory. Emergency services were called to the Saint Catherine 1pm. I

:07:33. > :07:38.can see the runway lights, can you tell any more about what happened.

:07:39. > :07:43.The aircraft, a twin engine like that came down here at the airport,

:07:44. > :07:49.which is in Broughton on the North Wales side of the border with

:07:50. > :07:54.Chester just if you mail signed me. Pictures show it appeared to be in

:07:55. > :08:01.some difficulty before it came down, but North Wales police arrived here

:08:02. > :08:06.just after 1pm and they found the wreckage of the light aircraft close

:08:07. > :08:12.to the runway. A man was pronounced dead at the scene, a woman was taken

:08:13. > :08:15.to the nearest hospital just the few miles away but she also later died.

:08:16. > :08:19.There was no one else on the aircraft.

:08:20. > :08:26.Do we know any more about why the aircraft was there?

:08:27. > :08:29.This airport is actually on quite a large site, the Airbus UK has its

:08:30. > :08:34.factory here, the wings for some of their claims are made here. The

:08:35. > :08:42.airport is mainly used for fleet, but the number of commercial and

:08:43. > :08:45.private flights also operate here. Clearly, investigations are being

:08:46. > :08:49.carried out by Airbus say it was not one of the planes. The group which

:08:50. > :08:53.manages the site says that it does not wish to comment at this stage

:08:54. > :08:58.and has left all enquiries to north little `` North Wales police. The

:08:59. > :09:02.air accident investigation bureau has sent a team which is

:09:03. > :09:04.investigating the circumstances around the crash.

:09:05. > :09:08.Controversial plans to allocate land across South Lakeland for thousands

:09:09. > :09:10.of new homes over the next 12 years have been approved. The council s

:09:11. > :09:14.identified sites in towns and villages to build 400 houses a year,

:09:15. > :09:17.as well as allowing businesses to expand. Objectors argued it took up

:09:18. > :09:23.too much countryside. But inspectors have ruled the council's plans are

:09:24. > :09:26.justified. Almost a thousand people have joined

:09:27. > :09:30.a petition to rebuild the Sandiway Round Tower in Northwich. The grade

:09:31. > :09:33.II listed landmark had to be demolished after a car collided with

:09:34. > :09:37.it last night. The tower's bricks, seen here in better times, are being

:09:38. > :09:43.stored by the council with the hope of possible reconstruction at a

:09:44. > :09:47.later date. Manchester's Christmas Markets are

:09:48. > :09:50.back for their 15th year from today. More than 300 stalls helped boost

:09:51. > :09:53.the city's economy by ?70 million last year. They also brought in over

:09:54. > :10:00.1.7 million visitors to Albert Square alone.

:10:01. > :10:03.One part of the North West will have a particularly close eye on

:10:04. > :10:06.England's match against Chile tonight. Jay Rodriguez, who was born

:10:07. > :10:10.in Burnley and made his name with his hometown club, is in line to

:10:11. > :10:13.make his debut for his country at Wembley. The striker moved to

:10:14. > :10:17.Southampton last year for a fee of about ?7 million. But as Richard

:10:18. > :10:26.Askam found out, there are lots of people rooting for him back home in

:10:27. > :10:30.Lancashire. Rodriguez! What I call! He has made

:10:31. > :10:39.it in the Premier league, and knows he is about to make his family even

:10:40. > :10:47.prouder. The Burnley boy, born and bred, will be there tonight. It is

:10:48. > :10:54.like a dream come true. I can't believe I am going to Wembley to see

:10:55. > :10:58.my son play. I do thought he gets five minutes, I would be so proud

:10:59. > :11:03.just watching him warming up. As a youngster, Jay Rodrguez began to

:11:04. > :11:08.shine as a footballer and play for one of his local teams. Although he

:11:09. > :11:13.clearly had talent, his coach from age ten to 14 says he was certainly

:11:14. > :11:20.no prima donna. He was a lovely lad, he was very unassuming and not

:11:21. > :11:24.pig`headed or anything. It is brilliant for the club. Jay Rodrguez

:11:25. > :11:28.was picked up by Burnley and made his way through the ranks to the

:11:29. > :11:31.first team where the forest. One of his former coaches says he expected

:11:32. > :11:37.to take his international debut in stride in just the same way.

:11:38. > :11:41.Everything he has had to move up in, any level, he has adapted to it and

:11:42. > :11:46.done well. I'm sure know with the England squad he will adapt to that

:11:47. > :11:49.and be fine. With four goals to his name this season the young striker

:11:50. > :11:56.could make a name for himself at Wembley this evening. As far as his

:11:57. > :12:01.dad is conserved, `` as far as his dad is concerned... The messages in

:12:02. > :12:04.getting people talking on the streets, the always finish up by

:12:05. > :12:10.saying what a great lad. It makes me so proud. Good luck to him for

:12:11. > :12:13.tonight. James Dyer, from Liverpool, was

:12:14. > :12:16.working in the engine room of the Cunard liner Lusitania when a German

:12:17. > :12:19.U boat torpedoed it in 1915. He managed to survive, but 1,200 people

:12:20. > :12:22.died. Today James's daughter and many others went to a special

:12:23. > :12:32.commemoration to mark the centenary of the sinking. Andy Gill reports.

:12:33. > :12:35.In her day she was one of the fastest liners on the Atlantic. The

:12:36. > :12:40.Lusitania came into service from Liverpool in 1907. In May 1915 a

:12:41. > :12:44.German U boat attacked her. She sank off the coast of Ireland. Men, women

:12:45. > :12:54.and children among the dead. James Dyer a stoker here in the centre,

:12:55. > :12:57.survived and rescued two children. He grabbed a piece of wood or

:12:58. > :13:01.whatever, there were some children and he got a hold of the children

:13:02. > :13:04.and took them back and save them. Two American children. People in

:13:05. > :13:07.Liverpool called her the Lusy. Crowds gathered in her home port as

:13:08. > :13:10.the news broke. There was anti German rioting in Liverpool,

:13:11. > :13:18.Manchester and Salford. Joe Wynne's great grandfather and uncle George

:13:19. > :13:23.were aboard. The people were cleaning the bunks in the caverns,

:13:24. > :13:28.people who are in the bowels of the ship, and the likes of George in the

:13:29. > :13:30.kitchen peeling potatoes, they were the families keeping millionaires

:13:31. > :13:33.happy upstairs. Today dozens of people came to a drop in session

:13:34. > :13:36.about the liner at Merseyside Maritime Museum. It is organising a

:13:37. > :13:44.centenary exhibition about the tragedy. One of the Lusitania's

:13:45. > :13:48.propellers was salvaged from the sea bed 30 years ago and it will be at

:13:49. > :13:52.the centre of commemorations in 2015. Nearly one century on it is

:13:53. > :13:59.clear how strongly the Lusitania study still resonates in Liverpool.

:14:00. > :14:03.She was at the landing stage very regularly, she was a very familiar

:14:04. > :14:05.sight there. Vocal people held her in high regard.

:14:06. > :14:08.It's thought up to 600 people aboard, crew and passengers, had

:14:09. > :14:12.north west connections. And the museum wants to hear as many stories

:14:13. > :14:22.as possible. Andy Gill BBC North West Tonight, Liverpool. It is a big

:14:23. > :14:26.night, it is Children In Need. Roger has left the studio and has joined

:14:27. > :14:33.our fundraisers party in Manchester. Let's go to him no. It looks

:14:34. > :14:41.reassuringly chaotic there! There you are. Give us each year, look

:14:42. > :14:49.like you are enjoying yourselves. CHEERING. We have extra chaos this

:14:50. > :14:56.year. Look two is here. Hacker the dog, for the third year running

:15:00. > :15:09.could have shared my black pudding. She has a punch`up forbidding. I

:15:10. > :15:13.thought you liked meat paste. I was given that a very special man.

:15:14. > :15:19.Annabelle would not want to know about your black pudding. We are

:15:20. > :15:23.going to hear a lot more from Chris at Hacker during the course of the

:15:24. > :15:28.evening. Let's have a chat to some of the people raising money today.

:21:09. > :21:23.injured my back. I am gutted. Last week you were not well enough

:21:24. > :21:29.to be on the show. How are you know? So much better. A week of rest over

:21:30. > :21:35.the weekend and I am excited to be bringing some fun to the dance

:21:36. > :21:46.floor. What kind of stuff do you have to do for the quick step? One,

:21:47. > :21:50.two, three, four! I actually mess that up. That was at least the name

:21:51. > :21:59.from me. If only you were on the panel. `` at least 89. This is the

:22:00. > :22:03.dreaded spot where the judges said. But now it is the production

:22:04. > :22:16.coordinator. The desk is messy at the moment. Tomorrow, this is where

:22:17. > :22:19.it is going to be happening. Tell us about the cha`cha`cha. We're not

:22:20. > :22:26.doing so much of this, it is more freestyle. It is all about twisting

:23:08. > :23:13.that would be brilliant. Roger is doing brilliant year, the

:23:14. > :23:16.temperature today have not been billion but we have had a lot of

:23:17. > :23:20.clothing and the occasional spot of rain. It has not stopped many people

:23:21. > :23:27.from going out there and doing their bit for Children In Need. Over the

:23:28. > :23:31.weekend we keep the temperatures at around nine or 10 degrees at best,
