:00:00. > :00:12.Louise, thank you. That's all from the BBC News at

:00:13. > :00:17.Good evening. Welcome to North West Tonight with Roger Johnson and

:00:18. > :00:20.Annabel Tiffin. Our top story.. Guilty of ill`treatment and neglect.

:00:21. > :00:22.Three staff at a Lancaster care home left elderly residents traumatised

:00:23. > :00:26.and humiliated. The residents in their 70s and 0s

:00:27. > :00:27.were slapped and stamped on. We re live at court.

:00:28. > :00:34.Also tonight... "I'll never understand how it

:00:35. > :00:36.happened." A mother's anguish as an inquest hears how Millie died after

:00:37. > :00:39.choking at nursery. Two Lancashire men accused of

:00:40. > :00:44.endangering a passenger plane heading to Manchester are found not

:00:45. > :00:48.guilty. It is a real cultural gem. Join me

:00:49. > :00:52.in Liverpool to find out why the Central Library is the place to be.

:00:53. > :00:54.And they know how it feels ` the couple helping the homeless who were

:00:55. > :00:58.once destitute themselves. People were kind to us and helped

:00:59. > :01:06.us, so we wanted to help our community.

:01:07. > :01:10.Three women who ill`treated and neglected vulnerable elderly

:01:11. > :01:13.residents at a Lancashire nursing home are tonight facing possible

:01:14. > :01:16.jail sentences. Preston Crown Court heard that the

:01:17. > :01:20.three carers humiliated residents at the Hillcroft nursing home at

:01:21. > :01:23.Slyne`with`Hest near Lancaster. They had denied any wrongdoing, but

:01:24. > :01:28.the jury didn't believe them and they were convicted of wilful

:01:29. > :01:35.neglect. Our chief reporter, Dave Guest, is outside the court now

:01:36. > :01:41.Who were these women and what did they do to the elderly people in

:01:42. > :01:45.their care? As you say, three women convicted today.

:01:46. > :01:52.Gemma Pearson is 28, Carol Ann Moore 54, and Katie Cairns is 27. These

:01:53. > :01:56.were terrorist trusted to care for some of the most vulnerable elderly

:01:57. > :02:00.people, those with advanced image. It was a trust they were to betray

:02:01. > :02:05.cruelly, ill treating and humiliating the people they were

:02:06. > :02:10.supposed to be looking after. They work at the Hillcroft nursing home

:02:11. > :02:15.at Slyne`with`Hest. Carol Ann Moore was said to have slapped one patient

:02:16. > :02:19.as a punishment. Katie Cairns was said to have stamped on another and

:02:20. > :02:23.Gemma Pearson tipped one out of his chair because he would not stand up.

:02:24. > :02:26.During the trial the court was told beanbags were often thrown at the

:02:27. > :02:33.visit Santa Fe were humiliated and laughed at. Hume `` presumably the

:02:34. > :02:35.perpetrators believed these people would not remember what was

:02:36. > :02:40.happening to them. They came unstuck when a whistle`blower alerted the

:02:41. > :02:45.Care Quality Commission. What was the reaction from the victims'

:02:46. > :02:48.families and police? Naturally enough, people were

:02:49. > :02:52.shocked to hear what had happened to the loved ones. Soon after the

:02:53. > :02:55.verdict 's this afternoon a spokesman for the family said these

:02:56. > :03:01.three women had betrayed the trust place it `` the trust placed in them

:03:02. > :03:06.and had failed to provide dignity for their relatives. We hope that

:03:07. > :03:09.the sentencing will reflect in the crimes committed against vulnerable

:03:10. > :03:12.people who could not stand for themselves.

:03:13. > :03:17.They are duties on the owners and management of Hillcroft, Lancashire

:03:18. > :03:22.County Council adult services come NHS North Lancashire and the Care

:03:23. > :03:30.Quality Commission. We feel there have been failings on the parts of

:03:31. > :03:34.all of these. The three women showed a total disregard for their

:03:35. > :03:37.well`being, displaying contemptible behaviour that should never be

:03:38. > :03:43.tolerated. What happens to the women now?

:03:44. > :03:46.They will be back in Preston in January to discover what your

:03:47. > :03:51.punishment will be and also to be punished is Darren Smith, one of the

:03:52. > :03:54.former colleagues at Hillcroft. He earlier admitted eight charges

:03:55. > :03:58.against him come and relatives are concerned about whether authorities

:03:59. > :04:06.did enough to act when the initial alarm was raised. There is currently

:04:07. > :04:10.a review into that. The mother of a nine`month old baby

:04:11. > :04:13.who died after choking on her lunch at nursery has told an inquest

:04:14. > :04:16.she'll never understand how it happened. Millie Thompson was taken

:04:17. > :04:19.ill at Ramillies Hall Nursery in Cheadle Hulme last year.

:04:20. > :04:22.Today a jury heard that the first aid training of the nursery

:04:23. > :04:25.supervisor who'd been feeding her had expired. Naomi Cornwell reports.

:04:26. > :04:31.Millie Thompson was only on her third full day at Ramillies Hall

:04:32. > :04:35.Nursery when she became ill. The inquest in Oldham heard that she had

:04:36. > :04:38.settled in well at the school and had no special dietary needs. But

:04:39. > :04:41.when Millie was being fed her lunch of mashed up shepherd's pie by a

:04:42. > :04:49.nursery supervisor she suddenly started to choke and turn blue.

:04:50. > :04:53.That supervisor, Alison Pope, told the court her first aid training had

:04:54. > :04:55.expired, but a colleague with special paediatric first aid

:04:56. > :04:58.training had done backslaps on Millie before the ambulance arrived.

:04:59. > :05:01.Did you panic? Asked Mr Kenny, lawyer for the Thompson family.

:05:02. > :05:03.We didn't have time to panic, she said.

:05:04. > :05:07.I had never experienced anything like this before.

:05:08. > :05:10.An ambulance arrived at the school ten minutes after being called, but

:05:11. > :05:14.Millie was pronounced dead in Stepping Hill hospital less than an

:05:15. > :05:16.hour later. The Coroner for South Manchester, John Pollard, today

:05:17. > :05:19.praised the charitable work that Millie's parents, Joanne and David,

:05:20. > :05:25.have since carried out with the North West Ambulance Service,

:05:26. > :05:28.describing them as very generous. Giving evidence, her mother broke

:05:29. > :05:32.down in tears as she described the 23rd of October last year, telling

:05:33. > :05:39.the jury, "We thought she was safe that day. How she choked on mash,

:05:40. > :05:41.we'll never understand." The inquest into Millie Thompson's

:05:42. > :05:50.death is expected to continue into next week.

:05:51. > :05:56.The bodies of two women have been found at a house on Merseyside. The

:05:57. > :06:02.discovery was made at the property in Knowsley Village at around

:06:03. > :06:05.midday. A 55`year`old man has been arrested. The scene has been

:06:06. > :06:07.cordoned off and forensic teams are there. Let's join our reporter,

:06:08. > :06:11.Yunus Mulla. What more can you tell us about what

:06:12. > :06:16.Leith `` police believe may have happened?

:06:17. > :06:20.The crime scene investigators are still here this evening. They spent

:06:21. > :06:25.most of the afternoon there. What we know is that a man walked into a

:06:26. > :06:31.police station earlier today. That led Merseyside Police to home farm

:06:32. > :06:35.Road here in Knowsley Village. The emergency services were called,

:06:36. > :06:42.including the air ambulance. When they arrived they discovered the

:06:43. > :06:47.bodies of a 20`year`old woman and another woman, also believed to be

:06:48. > :06:54.in her 50s. Clearly this has created a lot of shop here. This is what

:06:55. > :06:59.neighbours had to say to me. My daughter came to the door and

:07:00. > :07:04.said everyone is out in the road. We didn't hear anything until the air

:07:05. > :07:07.ambulance dropped here. There has never been anything like that happen

:07:08. > :07:13.in this area before. It is a shock, really. You could not

:07:14. > :07:19.get in. We team up the main road and it was all blocked off. Clearly a

:07:20. > :07:21.very shocking thing to happen in any community.

:07:22. > :07:26.What do we know about the people who live there?

:07:27. > :07:31.The two women are yet to be formally identified because not all next of

:07:32. > :07:36.kin and `` have been informed. Some people have told me the two women

:07:37. > :07:40.kept themselves to themselves but they have only been here for a few

:07:41. > :07:45.years. A 55`year`old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and

:07:46. > :07:51.remains in police custody this evening. House`to`house enquiries

:07:52. > :07:57.here are also continuing. Thank you very much indeed.

:07:58. > :08:02.A 21`year`old man from Salford who scrawled graffiti about the killers

:08:03. > :08:05.of Fusilier Lee Rigby has been jailed for twelve weeks. Daniel

:08:06. > :08:08.Smith was found guilty of two counts of criminal damage to the the RAF

:08:09. > :08:11.Bomber Command War Memorial in London. Fusilier Rigby from

:08:12. > :08:13.Middleton was stabbed to death outside Woolwich Barracks earlier

:08:14. > :08:17.this year. Work on a new link road connecting

:08:18. > :08:21.the Heysham Peninsula to the M6 motorway will begin in the New Year.

:08:22. > :08:26.The ?124 million project was given final approval at the Court of

:08:27. > :08:30.Appeal this morning. Lancashire County Council says it will mean a

:08:31. > :08:33.new era for economic growth and improved transport.

:08:34. > :08:37.Merseyside Police are using fogging devices to foil thieves this

:08:38. > :08:40.Christmas. The devices, which are being installed in shops, will fill

:08:41. > :08:44.the premises with dense fog when thieves attempt a robbery. The force

:08:45. > :08:47.says it is also using tracking devices and forensic sprays to cut

:08:48. > :08:51.retail crime. And four giant fish used in a ? .6

:08:52. > :08:55.million drug smuggling operation have been re`homed at the Blue

:08:56. > :08:58.Planet Aquarium in Cheshire. The freshwater Arowanas were used in an

:08:59. > :09:03.attempt to bring 17kg of cocaine into the UK two years ago. It was

:09:04. > :09:05.discovered hidden in sealed bags among a consignment of more than

:09:06. > :09:14.16,000 tropical fish. A woman from Lancashire has died

:09:15. > :09:19.after contracting malaria while holidaying overseas.

:09:20. > :09:23.Jane Rowley and her husband, Martin, had been back home in Lytham for two

:09:24. > :09:30.weeks when they became ill. Lee Bennion reports.

:09:31. > :09:33.Martin and Jane Rowley enjoyed the good life. A happy family, their

:09:34. > :09:38.daughter, Victoria, got married in July. They ran a successful business

:09:39. > :09:40.and had an exotic holiday home in The Gambia. They holidayed there

:09:41. > :09:44.regularly and Martin even sponsored the local youth football team. They

:09:45. > :09:47.had most recently returned home to Lytham a couple of weeks ago. Then,

:09:48. > :09:54.at the weekend, they both became ill.

:09:55. > :09:58.The only thing I can describe it as is the worst case of flu you could

:09:59. > :10:00.ever imagine. The headaches get worse...

:10:01. > :10:04.They had contracted malaria while overseas.

:10:05. > :10:11.Sadly, Jane succumbed to the illness last night.

:10:12. > :10:21.Every bodily function in her body began to fail on her. After that, we

:10:22. > :10:25.made the decision that it was kind for her to turn the machine off

:10:26. > :10:28.which is so sad. At the family carpet firm in Lytham today,

:10:29. > :10:34.Martin's dad, Jim, was trying to keep busy, but couldn't disguise his

:10:35. > :10:42.distress. The two children I feel so sorry for

:10:43. > :10:48.them. Young James said, I'm 17. . I just lost my mum. We have accepted

:10:49. > :10:54.chain into our family and couldn't ask for anyone better. I am going to

:10:55. > :10:57.miss very much. `` we have accepted Jane.

:10:58. > :11:01.Doctors say Martin appears to have made a full recovery.

:11:02. > :11:04.Once he is home he will have to take a course of anti`malarial treatment,

:11:05. > :11:07.and of course begin to come to terms with his loss.

:11:08. > :11:12.Two men who were accused of being terrorists and who had threatened to

:11:13. > :11:16.blow up a plane walked free court today. Tie`yab Subhani and Mohammed

:11:17. > :11:19.Safdar were arrested in May after a plane heading from Pakistan to

:11:20. > :11:21.Manchester was forced to make an emergency landing at Stansted.

:11:22. > :11:24.`` Tayyab Subhani and Mohammed Safdar.

:11:25. > :11:28.But, after new information came to light, the judge today ordered the

:11:29. > :11:33.jury to clear the men. Our reporter, Kim Riley, joins us now from

:11:34. > :11:37.Stansted airport. Yes, and Stansted is a designated a

:11:38. > :11:40.report for reception of planes that have been hijacked or are undergoing

:11:41. > :11:46.a midair emergency. They are taken to the other side of the era failed

:11:47. > :11:50.away from the terminal so that normal operations can continue. That

:11:51. > :11:53.is what happened in this situation but from the start there was

:11:54. > :11:59.confusion as to the precise nature of the threat. It was an emergency

:12:00. > :12:02.in which no one was injured amidst a big security operation.

:12:03. > :12:06.All passengers and crew were safely taken off the Pakistani airlines

:12:07. > :12:12.plane. A detailed search of the aircraft revealed nothing

:12:13. > :12:16.significant. 42`year`old Mohammed Safdar had been put into a forensic

:12:17. > :12:21.suit and threaded by police. He was held in custody for 73 days. The

:12:22. > :12:24.airline did not disclose the findings of its internal

:12:25. > :12:28.investigation of the incident to British authorities until ordered to

:12:29. > :12:32.by the court. The prosecution originally claimed Mohammed Safdar,

:12:33. > :12:35.on the left, and 30`year`old Tayyab Subhani had made threats to kill

:12:36. > :12:38.passengers and crew and blow up the plane, but during the trial

:12:39. > :12:42.different picture emerged. One passenger called that a trivial

:12:43. > :12:45.incident. The judge said some of the evidence

:12:46. > :12:49.before the jury against the two men had been tenuous and peppered with

:12:50. > :12:55.inconsistencies. He instructed them to return verdict

:12:56. > :13:00.'s of not guilty on both counts Outside the court, solicitors for

:13:01. > :13:04.the pair read a short statements. Mohammed Safdar is relieved this

:13:05. > :13:11.ordeal is over. Due to information provided by

:13:12. > :13:18.authorities by members of the crew of flight PK709 the UK was put at

:13:19. > :13:21.considerable expense. This is a victory for him, his loved ones and

:13:22. > :13:26.those that knew he was innocent of the allegations he was facing.

:13:27. > :13:32.This case has collapsed after it became clear the whip this is had

:13:33. > :13:36.not told the truth. It is also clear that had the inquiry documents held

:13:37. > :13:38.by the airline 's been disclosed to the prosecution at the outset these

:13:39. > :13:44.two men would never have faced this protracted ordeal and a Crown Court

:13:45. > :13:50.trial. Can you say something to us in English?

:13:51. > :13:53.Is that all right? The defence said there was gaping

:13:54. > :13:56.holes in the evidence against the two men who had endured months of

:13:57. > :14:05.stress while being falsely branded terror suspects.

:14:06. > :14:08.I have a statement tonight from the Crown Prosecution Service saying,

:14:09. > :14:12.during the course of the pile for this information came in revealing

:14:13. > :14:16.significant inconsistencies in the accounts given by some which this

:14:17. > :14:24.is. It is satisfied the decision to bring the case was correct in the

:14:25. > :14:26.face of a serious allegation. `` the accounts given by some of the whip

:14:27. > :14:30.kisses. `` the accounts given by some of the

:14:31. > :14:39.witnesses. A hospital trust in Cumbria has

:14:40. > :14:42.apologised after inspectors found elderly dementia patients were left

:14:43. > :14:45.for hours without food. The Care Quality Commission said chronic

:14:46. > :14:48.staff shortages at the Ramsay Unit in the grounds of Furness General

:14:49. > :14:50.Hospital had impacted on patient safety. Suzanne Hailey reports.

:14:51. > :14:52.Vulnerable patients left without breakfast or medication. Incomplete

:14:53. > :14:55.record keeping and a number of patients at risk of weight loss and

:14:56. > :15:02.malnutrition. Why? A chronic shortage of staff. What the CQC

:15:03. > :15:04.report has highlighted is that staff are extremely caring and

:15:05. > :15:07.compassionate but we have not supported them with sufficient

:15:08. > :15:14.staffing. We are extremely sorry.

:15:15. > :15:19.When the Ramsay Unit was it inspected in an unannounced visit in

:15:20. > :15:24.October the Care Quality Commission issued warnings to immediately

:15:25. > :15:30.improve standards. The unit was closed to new admissions. Today s

:15:31. > :15:33.report says that the unit fell short of all three national care

:15:34. > :15:37.standards. It describes how there was little stimulation and no

:15:38. > :15:43.therapeutic input into patient care. It details concerns the trust did

:15:44. > :15:47.not act in accordance with legal requirements on things like the

:15:48. > :15:53.capacity can `` to consent. Staffing shortages had been overcome

:15:54. > :15:56.using temporary workers. Since then, an internal review has been

:15:57. > :16:01.carried out into what went wrong. Today, the trust apologised and said

:16:02. > :16:05.its care and welfare service was not good enough.

:16:06. > :16:08.The quality of care we have provided to our patients is not of the

:16:09. > :16:13.standard and fell far short of the standard we would want.

:16:14. > :16:17.We have let down our patients, our families and our staff. Staffing

:16:18. > :16:23.levels have been increased by 2 % and last week the unit reopened

:16:24. > :16:29.Now the trust is promising action to make sure these failings can never

:16:30. > :16:31.happen again. Still to come on North West

:16:32. > :16:34.Tonight... The once homeless couple who have

:16:35. > :16:37.helped hundreds of others win a national award.

:16:38. > :16:40.And booking a visit to Liverpool's top tourist attraction ` how the

:16:41. > :16:48.city's Central Library has more pulling power than The Beatles.

:16:49. > :16:54.You may well have heard the sad news today about the death of Lewis

:16:55. > :16:57.Collins. For those of us of a certain age, he was one of the

:16:58. > :17:01.toughest and most famous TV detectives of the '70s and '80s

:17:02. > :17:04.But did you know Lewis Collins started out cutting women's hair in

:17:05. > :17:08.Liverpool? The Wirral`born actor died yesterday at his home in Los

:17:09. > :17:11.Angeles after a five year battle against cancer. Nina Warhurst has

:17:12. > :17:22.been hearing about his early days on Merseyside.

:17:23. > :17:30.Playing Bodie in The Professionals was what made Lewis Collins a

:17:31. > :17:33.household name, but after leaving school in Birkenhad he played in

:17:34. > :17:36.Merseybeat bands and worked in a hairdressers, where he met someone

:17:37. > :17:46.who also went on to bigger and better things.

:17:47. > :17:48.Have known him for ever, this is him and me in the dispensary in

:17:49. > :17:50.Liverpool. They stayed lifelong friends, so

:17:51. > :17:54.much so that Mike McCartney is godfather to one of Collins' sons.

:17:55. > :18:00.I was at the Globe local heroes awards and the flora pavilion near

:18:01. > :18:08.Brighton and my godson, Elliott Lee Collins, rang and told me his dad

:18:09. > :18:12.had passed away. His hard man image was cemented when

:18:13. > :18:20.he was turned down for the part of James Bond because his style was too

:18:21. > :18:24.aggresive. But his screen debut came the same way as many Merseyside

:18:25. > :18:28.actors in the '60s and '70s. You can see my carvings if you like.

:18:29. > :18:30.A life that took him to Hollywood, the action hero died peacefully

:18:31. > :18:43.surrounded by his family. He was brilliant, wasn't he? Classic

:18:44. > :18:47.telly. The boys all wanted to be like him and the girls all thought

:18:48. > :18:51.he was drop`dead gorgeous. Yes, in a nutshell.

:18:52. > :18:58.They were once homeless themselves, with five children with nowhere to

:18:59. > :19:01.go. Luckily they got help, shelter and food. Now Len and Carol Fowler

:19:02. > :19:05.run The Well in Blackpool, giving hundreds of people hot meals,

:19:06. > :19:08.clothes and friendship. Today the couple won a national

:19:09. > :19:12.award given to unsung Christian Heroes. The ceremony took place at

:19:13. > :19:17.the Palace of Westminster earlier. Earlier this week, Nazia Mogra went

:19:18. > :19:20.to meet them. Cheers, sweetheart. I will be better

:19:21. > :19:24.when I get this inside the! Colin comes to this centre every day

:19:25. > :19:29.it's open. Some days it's a fry`up for breakfast. Today it's lunch and

:19:30. > :19:35.his favourite veggie soup. It is a way of life, basically. It

:19:36. > :19:39.is somewhere you can meet and greet people. You meet your friends here.

:19:40. > :19:42.Carol and Len have been running The Well in Blackpool for ten years

:19:43. > :19:47.They were once homeless themselves. Now they help others.

:19:48. > :19:55.We get homeless people come here, people that are on benefit 's, we

:19:56. > :19:58.have had families come in. It is a place for them to come and be part

:19:59. > :20:02.of the community. How does your background and what

:20:03. > :20:09.happens to you meet you want to do this? It was incredibly difficult.

:20:10. > :20:13.We had five children and the eldest was only ten, to move out of place

:20:14. > :20:17.which we called home into the unknown, really.

:20:18. > :20:20.Caz and Simon are volunteers at The Well. Last Christmas their lives

:20:21. > :20:23.changed. On a holiday from London, targeted by pickpockets, all their

:20:24. > :20:28.money gone. But, thanks to the centre, they were able to get their

:20:29. > :20:33.lives back on track. With the help of Len and Carol and

:20:34. > :20:39.the church we were able to get married two weeks ago. Carol planned

:20:40. > :20:41.pretty much the whole wedding, she was my maid of honour, and Lennon

:20:42. > :20:44.gave me away. Now more celebrations. Today Carol

:20:45. > :20:50.and Len's hard work was recognised nationally. They won the Inspire

:20:51. > :20:54.Award at a ceremony in London. This award is for the role of

:20:55. > :20:57.Blackpool, all the people that come. People have been kind to us and

:20:58. > :21:00.helped us so we wanted to go out and serve our community.

:21:01. > :21:03.Carol and Len may be having a well`earned day off, but the centre

:21:04. > :21:05.in Blackpool tonight is still open, giving food and warmth to those in

:21:06. > :21:17.need. Happy customers, well done to them

:21:18. > :21:20.both. Indeed. Manchester United manager David

:21:21. > :21:23.Moyes described last night's 5` thrashing of Bayer Leverkusen as his

:21:24. > :21:27.team's best display since he took charge. United were dominant

:21:28. > :21:31.throughout, Nani capping off an excellent team display with their

:21:32. > :21:39.fifth late on. It means the Reds are through to the last 16 with a game

:21:40. > :21:43.to spare. However, their neighbours across the

:21:44. > :21:46.city had already qualified before their match against Viktoria Plzen

:21:47. > :21:52.at the Etihad Stadium ` a game City won 4`2. Edin Dzeko with the fourth

:21:53. > :21:56.goal for the blues. The bookmakers offering 16 to one

:21:57. > :22:04.last night on either of them to win the Champions League, but 33 to one

:22:05. > :22:08.on an all Manchester final. That would be good!

:22:09. > :22:11.When it comes to a day out, Liverpool pretty much has it all.

:22:12. > :22:15.There's the fantastic Albert Dock, The Cavern and Museums. Well, how

:22:16. > :22:18.about adding a visit to the Library to the list?

:22:19. > :22:21.Liverpool's Central Library is the number one tourist attraction in the

:22:22. > :22:24.city, according to travel website Trip Advisor, making it the only

:22:25. > :22:26.public lending library in a UK city to take the top spot. Elaine Dunkley

:22:27. > :22:39.has been along for a look. In Liverppol there's plenty to see

:22:40. > :22:42.and do, with attractions like the Albert Dock and Anfield. But it s a

:22:43. > :22:53.love of the library which is getting rave reviews.

:22:54. > :22:58.It is such a dramatic space, it is a stunning building with the atrium,

:22:59. > :23:02.the steer course is crisscrossing. `` the staircases. Central Library

:23:03. > :23:05.is a cultural gem, a mix of the modern and the classic.

:23:06. > :23:09.After a ?50 million restoration it's now a top attraction.

:23:10. > :23:14.You come in through an 1860s facade which has been restored then you see

:23:15. > :23:19.a dramatic new space. Most people say while and take photographs. I

:23:20. > :23:24.think it is commended for a public library to beleaguered so highly,

:23:25. > :23:28.not least in a city like Liverpool which has tremendous attractions.

:23:29. > :23:32.Ice to be rated so highly. Trip Advisor is voted on by members of

:23:33. > :23:36.the public. I don't 124 attractions around the

:23:37. > :23:42.city, Central Library came in at number one.

:23:43. > :23:48.I phoned into Budweiser that it is number one in Liverpool. `` I've

:23:49. > :23:51.found in Trip Advisor. It is unbelievable, I will

:23:52. > :23:56.definitely bring my grandchildren round to see it.

:23:57. > :23:59.Hands clean ` that is the only password and your inside a treasure

:24:00. > :24:01.house of books to borrow and take home.

:24:02. > :24:04.This is what libraries of the past looked like.

:24:05. > :24:08.Reinvention is the key to not being left on the shelf. Here amongst some

:24:09. > :24:11.of the rarest books in the world there is a kids corner and cafe

:24:12. > :24:15.Trip Advisor will really boost the profile of the library. We have had

:24:16. > :24:19.over 450,000 visitors already, numerous other people who may not

:24:20. > :24:23.have thought of visiting the library will think what is that all about?

:24:24. > :24:25.We are aiming to get 1 million in the first year which will be

:24:26. > :24:28.fantastic. With visitor numbers up, it looks

:24:29. > :24:33.like a happy ending for Liverpool Central Library.

:24:34. > :24:36.It looks spectacular. It is an amazing building and what an

:24:37. > :24:41.accolade when you think of what is in Liverpool that you can visit

:24:42. > :24:45.Speaking of attractions... I knew you would say that!

:24:46. > :24:51.What are you wearing tonight? No strawberries, anyway.

:24:52. > :24:55.Something green, thank you. The last week of November has been so

:24:56. > :25:00.boring, weather`wise. I have been saying the same thing

:25:01. > :25:05.since Monday, I have been talking about clouds and light, patchy rain

:25:06. > :25:08.or spits and spots of rain. I am so pleased I shall be able to say

:25:09. > :25:11.something different for tomorrow because it will change. Tomorrow

:25:12. > :25:16.will turn windy. That is not so good, I know, but it is something

:25:17. > :25:23.different, and we will see blustery showers tomorrow. But tonight, back

:25:24. > :25:27.to the quiet front. Plenty of clouds and light winds initially, the

:25:28. > :25:33.clouds will thicken as we go into Donna bringing light patchy rain in

:25:34. > :25:38.places. Also we will see some missed towards morning, as well, and

:25:39. > :25:43.temperatures well above freezing, between four and seven Celsius. But

:25:44. > :25:47.I think skies will begin to clear from the north, from Cumbria, and

:25:48. > :25:52.here we could see temperatures closer to freezing in rural areas

:25:53. > :25:56.tomorrow morning. We start of cloudy, still some light, patchy

:25:57. > :25:59.rain around, then the winds begin to kick in. Some sunshine around

:26:00. > :26:05.Cumbria tomorrow morning, we have not seen that for a while. In the

:26:06. > :26:10.afternoon you can see cloud breaking up to allow sunshine but also plenty

:26:11. > :26:14.`` plenty of lustre a showers. Also, very strong north`westerly

:26:15. > :26:18.winds through the afternoon. When I tell you the temperatures tomorrow

:26:19. > :26:22.will peak possibly in double figures, eyes of 10 Celsius, the

:26:23. > :26:25.only thing is once you add on the wind chilled tomorrow it is not

:26:26. > :26:30.going to feel quite as warm as that. It will probably feel more like six

:26:31. > :26:34.or seven Celsius with the north`westerly winds. Then we head

:26:35. > :26:38.into the weekend, heading into December. For Saturday, the last day

:26:39. > :26:45.of November, we start with clear skies. Temperatures dropping fairly

:26:46. > :26:48.close to freezing Saturday morning, but it looks as if we will see

:26:49. > :26:52.sunshine because high`pressure slips back in on Saturday and Sunday.

:26:53. > :27:00.Hopefully some sunshine on Saturday and for the first day of December,

:27:01. > :27:03.back to boring, back to clouds. Thanks very much. Quickly have a

:27:04. > :27:10.look at this before we go. Last night the Grammy award`winning

:27:11. > :27:16.band Arcade Fire were in Blackpool. They took the tram to the concept.

:27:17. > :27:20.As you can see, they also wore a giant Papier mache heads as they

:27:21. > :27:25.walked to the venue and were accompanied by a Mariette she

:27:26. > :27:34.banned. `` by a Mariachi band. Does anyone

:27:35. > :27:38.know what their faces are supposed to be like?

:27:39. > :27:40.They are Grammy award winners! I know, silly right. Thanks for

:27:41. > :27:43.watching, goodbye.
