:00:00. > :00:12.That's all for now. I will be back with

:00:13. > :00:18.Good evening. A woman has died in a house fire in Wirral. Fire crews

:00:19. > :00:21.were called to the property in Village Way in Wallasey just after

:00:22. > :00:24.four o clock this morning. They have described the fire as intense. It's

:00:25. > :00:28.thought the noise of smoke alarms going off in the house alerted

:00:29. > :00:29.neighbours, who then rang the fire brigade.

:00:30. > :00:36.A man's been charged with attempted murder following a serious assault

:00:37. > :00:40.in Buxton on Friday. And police are investigating the

:00:41. > :00:44.death of a man found in the street in Bolton. They were called to Mount

:00:45. > :00:47.St Joseph's Road in Deane at about two o'clock this afternoon. The road

:00:48. > :00:50.is shut both ways between Wigan Road and Kylemore Avenue. A police

:00:51. > :00:53.spokesperson would only say they're investigating the death of a man and

:00:54. > :00:56."can't release any more details . A man's been charged with attempted

:00:57. > :00:59.murder following a serious assault in Buxton on Friday. Officers were

:01:00. > :01:02.called to a disturbance on Fairfield Road in the town, and found a

:01:03. > :01:05.36`year`old man with serious injuries. He was taken to

:01:06. > :01:08.Wythenshawe Hospital, where he is in a serious but stable condition.

:01:09. > :01:11.23`year`old Jake Grimshaw, from Buxton, has been remanded in custody

:01:12. > :01:12.and will appear before magistrates tomorrow.

:01:13. > :01:16.It's been announced that proposed changes to school transport funding

:01:17. > :01:19.in Lancashire are to go ahead. These include a change in the level of

:01:20. > :01:22.subsidy the County Council makes towards transport to faith schools,

:01:23. > :01:25.a rise in school bus fares, and a reduction in the number of pupils

:01:26. > :01:30.who qualify for free transport. However, families on a low income

:01:31. > :01:32.will still receive support. Hundreds of Christmas trees in

:01:33. > :01:36.Lancashire are currently being buried along the Fylde coast as part

:01:37. > :01:39.of an environmental project. It s part of a council and wildlife trust

:01:40. > :01:45.initiative to protect the coast from ongoing storms whilst recycling the

:01:46. > :01:49.trees. Emma Blackburn reports. Christmas trees on a beach in

:01:50. > :01:53.February. Not a sight you normally see, but they have a purpose.

:01:54. > :01:56.Donated by residents, these recycled trees are being planted along the

:01:57. > :02:02.Fylde coast near St Annes by volunteers and members of Lancashire

:02:03. > :02:06.Wildlife Trust. Once buried, the trees will create sand dunes, which

:02:07. > :02:12.will eventually form part of a flood defence. Christmas trees ` it is a

:02:13. > :02:16.great recycling method. It will only go to landfill or chipped if not

:02:17. > :02:23.here, and they are perfect for this region. The recent months of rain

:02:24. > :02:27.and high winds have meant protection between the land and sea is as vital

:02:28. > :02:31.as ever. During stormy weather, the sea can get right up here to the

:02:32. > :02:35.bottom of the dune, wearing it away, so by planting Christmas trees, a

:02:36. > :02:40.new dune is created to stop this one from disappearing. These Christmas

:02:41. > :02:45.trees were planted last year, and the benefits are already being felt.

:02:46. > :02:49.It is really important, what they are doing to the sand dunes. It

:02:50. > :02:53.means a lot to me personally, and it means a lot to local people who use

:02:54. > :02:57.this beach. The beach is very special. People are very proud of

:02:58. > :03:01.our beach. They also see value in the sand dunes for the flora and the

:03:02. > :03:07.fauna. Many residents are thrilled that we are using their trees to

:03:08. > :03:10.protect the local environment. Hundreds more trees will be planted

:03:11. > :03:17.this month, and it is hoped the scheme will continue to grow each

:03:18. > :03:20.year. A Spitfire plane that has been a

:03:21. > :03:23.long`standing feature at the Museum of Science and Industry in

:03:24. > :03:28.Manchester has moved to a new home today after 19 years in the city.

:03:29. > :03:31.The World War II aircraft was broken down into smaller parts in a

:03:32. > :03:35.painstaking operation so it could be loaded onto a lorry and transported

:03:36. > :03:39.to an exhibition at the RAF Museum in London.

:03:40. > :03:42.Months of planning has gone into this move. We have had to close the

:03:43. > :03:46.road outside. We've got low`loaders coming in. It will be lifted on to

:03:47. > :03:51.the truck in a minute. So lots of work has been involved, and we have

:03:52. > :03:54.had a crew here from the RAF Museum dismantling the plane for two days

:03:55. > :03:57.this week. It is going to this exhibition for a year, maybe longer.

:03:58. > :04:02.It is an important exhibition about aerial photography in Britain. This

:04:03. > :04:06.type of Spitfire was used for that purpose, so it is appropriate that

:04:07. > :04:09.it is going on to that exhibition in London.

:04:10. > :04:13.Both Premiership matches today involved teams from the North West.

:04:14. > :04:18.Everton passed up the chance to close on the top four with a 1`nil

:04:19. > :04:20.defeat at White Hart Lane. The result also let Spurs leapfrog

:04:21. > :04:25.Everton into fifth spot. At Old Trafford, the game between

:04:26. > :04:38.Manchester United and Fulham is in its dying minutes. It was Manchester

:04:39. > :04:47.United two, Fulham two. So, has that avocet arrived too

:04:48. > :04:49.early? Here's Mel Coles with the weather.

:04:50. > :04:52.And you might not believe this, but spring could be in the air `

:04:53. > :04:59.according to staff at the Martin Mere Wetland Centre near Ormskirk.

:05:00. > :05:03.Good evening. After a showery day, as temperatures start to drop away

:05:04. > :05:06.tonight, our next concern is ice. The Met Office now has a yellow

:05:07. > :05:10.warning in place. It lasts until tomorrow morning. There are still

:05:11. > :05:12.one or two showers around. Some of them may turn wintry as we go on

:05:13. > :05:15.through tonight, particularly through the Pennines. Elsewhere

:05:16. > :05:19.largely dry with clear skies, so we are expecting to see a touch of

:05:20. > :05:22.frost in places as temperatures drop to or just below freezing. A cold

:05:23. > :05:26.night, really, on the cards. Tomorrow, a much more settled day on

:05:27. > :05:30.the cards. The winds will be fairly light, and we'll still see one or

:05:31. > :05:33.two showers. Though not quite as potent as we have seen today. You

:05:34. > :05:37.can see from the isobars, the winds are light as we go through Monday.

:05:38. > :05:41.More settled conditions. Still some showers around. They will tend to be

:05:42. > :05:44.light, but there may be some sleet in them from time to time. There

:05:45. > :05:48.should be dry spells around, but it will feel cold, with highs of around

:05:49. > :05:52.five or six Celsius. There is more wet and windy weather on the way for

:05:53. > :06:00.Tuesday, so it does remain unsettled this week, and it will feel cold.

:06:01. > :06:12.And foremost. We will be back at 10:30pm.

:06:13. > :06:17.Good evening. We have a significant number of severe warnings out. Most

:06:18. > :06:22.of them have been issued on the River Thames today. Now, of course,

:06:23. > :06:27.with more rain due this week, that is not good news, and as well as

:06:28. > :06:31.that, we are expecting some gales as well on the coast. But this week,

:06:32. > :06:35.perhaps an increased risk of some snow as well. At the moment we are

:06:36. > :06:41.in a quiet spell of weather, with fewer showers around, this evening

:06:42. > :06:44.and overnight. There is a risk as temperatures get close to freezing

:06:45. > :06:48.that there could be some ice first thing in the morning. Temperatures

:06:49. > :06:52.will be lower out in the countryside. We could even have a

:06:53. > :06:56.smattering of snow tonight and first thing in the morning over the hills

:06:57. > :06:59.of Wales, the Midlands, up into northern England and Scotland. But

:07:00. > :07:07.tomorrow will be quieter, once again. Still scattered showers

:07:08. > :07:11.around. For the east of England perhaps chilly and grey for Match of

:07:12. > :07:12.the Day. But on Tuesday, the next Atlantic low rushes
