:00:00. > :00:15.Good evening. Police are warning people not to

:00:16. > :00:18.approach a convicted murderer who has been on the run for 48 hours

:00:19. > :00:22.after escaping from prison staff while on day release in Rochdale

:00:23. > :00:25.town centre. Officers say Paul Maxwell doesn't pose a significant

:00:26. > :00:30.threat to the public, but add anyone who sees him should call them. He

:00:31. > :00:33.was serving a life sentence for the murder of an 85`year`old in West

:00:34. > :00:45.Yorkshire and is known to have links to Rochdale and Tameside.

:00:46. > :00:50.I suspect that he is running out of money and our main concern is that

:00:51. > :00:54.the public. He has previously committed crimes against elderly

:00:55. > :00:59.people. If he is running out of money, he has defied it from

:01:00. > :01:06.somewhere. Unless anyone is assisting him, and they will be

:01:07. > :01:08.prosecuted. The Independent Police Complaints

:01:09. > :01:11.Commission says it's revisiting an investigation into expenses claims

:01:12. > :01:14.made by Lancashire's Police and Crime Commissioner. Clive Grunshaw

:01:15. > :01:17.was told in January that he would not face charges over allegations of

:01:18. > :01:21.dishonesty. But the IPCC says it is looking into the case again after it

:01:22. > :01:23.was contacted by the man who made the original accusations.

:01:24. > :01:26.Members of the North West's Ukrainian community gathered in

:01:27. > :01:30.Manchester today in memory of those killed during the recent violence in

:01:31. > :01:33.the city of Kiev. More than 60 people took part in the demo in St

:01:34. > :01:36.Anne's Square to show their opposition to the recently deposed

:01:37. > :01:43.president Victor Yanukovich. Many Ukrainians who live in

:01:44. > :01:47.Manchester have come out after the war, and they feel very

:01:48. > :01:54.passionately. It is an opportunity to commemorate an honour the victims

:01:55. > :02:01.and the heroes who have fallen. Also, any offence like this, we have

:02:02. > :02:09.to stand up and say what can we do to stop it from happening again ``

:02:10. > :02:13.event. As the Winter Olympics draw to a

:02:14. > :02:16.close in Sochi, the next generation of athletes are already training and

:02:17. > :02:19.dreaming that one day they'll be on the podium, .inspired by athletes

:02:20. > :02:22.who've trained here in the North West Yesterday, all eyes were on

:02:23. > :02:25.slalom skier Dave Ryding from Chorley. He may have finished 1 th,

:02:26. > :02:28.but he's the number one inspiration for youngsters at Pendle Ski Club,

:02:29. > :02:32.where he started out. Champions have been made on the

:02:33. > :02:34.Hills of Pendle. This is where the journey began for slalom skier David

:02:35. > :02:39.Ryding. He is a fantastic inspiration to

:02:40. > :02:43.everybody, from the young skiers up to the older people. When he was

:02:44. > :02:47.nine or ten years old, he was one of the best in the country for his age.

:02:48. > :02:50.He was always very committed. Last year, David Ryding won the

:02:51. > :02:58.Alpine Europa Cup slalom title. There were high hopes for Sochi but

:02:59. > :03:02.it wasn't to be. I knew the course and I knew I could

:03:03. > :03:04.be good, but I tripped up. That is life.

:03:05. > :03:10.But despite the disappointment, there was plenty of pride in

:03:11. > :03:14.Pendle. He is a really big inspiration,

:03:15. > :03:19.because I know that he trained here and it is like, I found it hard to

:03:20. > :03:25.believe the first time how someone on a dry slope could be where he is

:03:26. > :03:29.today at the Olympics. It is great to look up to someone and have such

:03:30. > :03:39.an inspiration, but it is not the French Alps here. I thought that it

:03:40. > :03:42.was really good how Dave Ryding nearly fell, but then he got back up

:03:43. > :03:46.and carried on. It may be the end of Winter Olympics

:03:47. > :03:52.in Sochi, but for these youngsters the dreams of Olympic glory are just

:03:53. > :03:56.beginning. As you may have just seen in the

:03:57. > :04:00.national news, Liverpool tightened their grip on a possible top four

:04:01. > :04:08.finish with a 4`3 win over Swansea at Anfield. All the goals on Match

:04:09. > :04:15.of the Day two at 10:25 on BBC One. And here is the weather.

:04:16. > :04:23.It has been a gloomy and damp day for many of us. It is thanks to this

:04:24. > :04:27.weather front that has stopped over the North and the West. It will

:04:28. > :04:34.eventually move along tomorrow. We should seize sunshine tomorrow

:04:35. > :04:40.afternoon. But it will be a damp and gloomy morning. We continue with the

:04:41. > :04:42.rain tonight. It will be heavy and persistent in northern and western

:04:43. > :04:48.parts. There is a yellow weather warning for Cumbria, as we could

:04:49. > :04:54.have two inches of rain. South and east, it may stay dry tonight, but

:04:55. > :04:59.it is cloudy and windy. It is quite mild as well. Lows of six or seven

:05:00. > :05:02.Celsius. The rain will eventually clear out of the way as we head onto

:05:03. > :05:10.the afternoon. This guy should brighten and the wind should ease,

:05:11. > :05:13.so it will be a drier and brighter afternoon. Temperatures up to 1

:05:14. > :05:23.Celsius. I will be back just after 10:15pm.

:05:24. > :06:06.In the meantime, enjoy your evening. Goodbye.

:06:07. > :06:12.Hello. Still no sign of the weather really settling down next week.

:06:13. > :06:16.There should be an improvement for most of us tomorrow. It will not be

:06:17. > :06:20.as windy as it has been today, and the band of rain will slowly peter

:06:21. > :06:24.out. We still have some rain to come through the night. This band of rain

:06:25. > :06:26.is quite slow moving, it will wander northwards into Dumfries and

:06:27. > :06:30.Galloway. Close to Northern Ireland, heavy rain in Cumbria and later in

:06:31. > :06:33.the night it will turn whether in Wales and the south-west. Southerly

:06:34. > :06:38.wind, quite strong at the moment, that will ease as the night goes on

:06:39. > :06:40.but it should be pretty mild, six or seven degrees, typically. Tomorrow,
