:01:04. > :01:05.from an all`female short list at a constituency meeting today.

:01:06. > :01:08.The Bishop of Blackburn has dedicated a weather vane on a

:01:09. > :01:11.Lancashire church in memory of a scientific discovery nearly 400

:01:12. > :01:14.years ago. The village of Hoole was home to the astronomer Jereliah

:01:15. > :01:19.Horrocks, who in 1639 becamd the first person to observe the planet

:01:20. > :01:23.Venus' transit across the stn. It helped scientists calculate the size

:01:24. > :01:35.of our solar system. Today ` special service of dedication was hdld. The

:01:36. > :01:40.transit of Venus occurs every 1 0 years, and so in the 17th cdntury,

:01:41. > :01:48.Jeremiah Horrocks observed ht, and in the 18th, 19th and 20th century,

:01:49. > :01:50.there has been a remote mord creative in church, and this is the

:01:51. > :01:52.21st`century memorial to Jeremiah Horrocks, the father of astronomy.

:01:53. > :01:55.Thousands of people have taken part in two marathons in the North West

:01:56. > :01:58.Today. Manchester's 38th race attracted runners aiming to beat

:01:59. > :02:02.personal best times on what is thought to be the flattest course in

:02:03. > :02:04.the country. It started and finished at Old Trafford with just 54 metres

:02:05. > :02:07.of elevation. Meanwhile in Blackpool, a

:02:25. > :02:28.Early morning on Blackpool prom and hundreds of runners prepare for

:02:29. > :02:33.today's marathon. Among thel is Ben Ashworth. Two years ago, thd dad of

:02:34. > :02:41.three was diagnosed with incurable bowel cancer. But Ben's detdrmined

:02:42. > :02:46.that won't stop him. I'm running six marathons in six months for a

:02:47. > :02:51.variety of different charithes. I just decided really this ye`r to

:02:52. > :02:55.make the best of the year I had the best of the time I've got, `nd I

:02:56. > :02:59.think to show my family, especially my girls, what it means to le to

:03:00. > :03:03.run, and try to do some good, to raise some money. Any marathon can

:03:04. > :03:08.be tough on the body ` but six in six months while undergoing

:03:09. > :03:12.chemotherapy? I am probably a little bit mad, but this is the re`lisation

:03:13. > :03:14.of a dream, and regardless of how much it hurts today, I'm not going

:03:15. > :03:17.to be able to wipe the smild off face.

:03:18. > :03:22.A kiss from Mum and then he's off. Ben's so far raised ?2,000 for four

:03:30. > :03:35.of money for the charity he cares about, and these charities, three of

:03:36. > :03:37.them have helped him person`lly and one of them he feels really close

:03:38. > :03:43.to. Ben's next challenge is the

:04:01. > :04:03.closer to Champions League football by sweeping aside Arsenal 3`0 to

:04:04. > :04:07.move a point behind the fourth`placed Gunners. Goals from

:04:08. > :04:13.Steven Naismith and Romelu Lukaku and an own goal from Mikhel Arteta

:04:14. > :04:16.ensured the points. In the fourth round of the Tetley's

:04:17. > :04:18.Challenge Cup, Super League leaders St Helens controversially bdat

:04:19. > :04:22.12`man Huddersfield Giants 07`1 . The Giants led with 14 minutes to

:04:23. > :04:28.play when Brett Ferres was sent for off for this dangerous tackle on

:04:29. > :04:32.Jonny Lomax. Saints responddd with a second try from winger Tommx

:04:33. > :04:45.Makinson. Then Walsh slotted over with this kick for a 17`16 win.

:05:17. > :05:19.see, not a bad end to the d`y, with sunshine and maybe a nice stnset as

:05:20. > :05:25.well. But in the early hours, rain moves in from the south`west. Rain

:05:26. > :05:29.continues to spread into rush`hour tomorrow morning, turning vdry heavy

:05:30. > :05:32.indeed foray time, probably leaving standing water in its wake, and

:05:33. > :05:36.heavy and thundery showers continue as we make our way into the

:05:37. > :05:41.afternoon, which will gradu`lly start to slowly dry out. Good news,

:05:42. > :05:44.though, high pressure builds in time for Tuesday, ensuring it is dry and

:05:45. > :05:47.a little bit brighter, but `lso a little bit cooler as well.

:05:48. > :05:48.a little bit brighter, but `lso a little bit Not a bad forecast for

:06:22. > :06:24.night and it is still wet at the night and it is still wet at the

:06:25. > :06:28.moment in southern counties. Watch how the rain becomes more extensive

:06:29. > :06:33.and heavier with a strengthening breeze. For northern England and

:06:34. > :06:41.Northern Ireland, a colder feel to the night. In northern Scotland

:06:42. > :06:46.there will be temperatures in sheltered spots. A mild start for

:06:47. > :06:50.Monday. If you escape through the morning commute dry, you will one of

:06:51. > :06:56.the few. Heavy bursts around. So expect surface water and spray on

:06:57. > :06:57.faster routes if you are travelling in by car. The winds are
