:00:00. > :00:14.back with the late news at 10pm. Now, the news where

:00:15. > :00:19.Good afternoon. A North West Bishop will use his

:00:20. > :00:22.Easter Sunday address to speak out against moves to legalise assisted

:00:23. > :00:25.suicide. The Roman Catholic Bishop of Shrewsbury, Mark Davies, whose

:00:26. > :00:28.diocese includes Cheshire, Wirral and part of Greater Manchester, will

:00:29. > :00:32.tell worshippers that the sanctity of human life is at risk. But

:00:33. > :00:44.opponents say he is out of touch. As Nina Warhurst reports. He has chosen

:00:45. > :00:52.the most important date in the Christian calendar because he wants

:00:53. > :00:55.his warning to be heard. That a bill allowing terminally ill patients to

:00:56. > :00:58.end their lives marks a dangerous embarcation on to a slippery and

:00:59. > :01:02.sinister slope. So many across the country are today concerned with how

:01:03. > :01:06.we care for those at the end of life, for the elderly and for the

:01:07. > :01:10.sick and to breach the very sanctity of human life with this change of

:01:11. > :01:12.the law is going to leave those people more vulnerable.

:01:13. > :01:15.But this woman says the Bishop is out of touch. She remembers her

:01:16. > :01:20.husband's agony as he deteriorated with motor neurone disease and the

:01:21. > :01:25.pain of having to go to a clinic in Switzerland to help him die.

:01:26. > :01:29.He couldn't feed himself, take himself to the toilet, couldn't do

:01:30. > :01:35.anything. To him, there was no life left. He did say at the end of his

:01:36. > :01:41.days, he said, I'm breathing, but I'm not living.

:01:42. > :01:44.Tens of thousands of Catholics in the north`west come under the

:01:45. > :01:48.Shrewsbury diocese but not all of them agree with what their Bishop

:01:49. > :01:51.says here on Sunday. But it will strike a chord with many. The

:01:52. > :02:00.assisted dying Bill will enter the House of Lords next month.

:02:01. > :02:04.A cannabis farm's been discovered by police after a toddler made a 999

:02:05. > :02:07.call. These plants were found by police in Salford. The officers were

:02:08. > :02:10.sent by a call`handler after the emergency call on Wednesday was cut

:02:11. > :02:13.off. It's thought the two`year`old had been playing with the phone and

:02:14. > :02:16.made the call accidentally. A 29`year`old man's been arrested.

:02:17. > :02:20.The actions of those involved in the 2011 riots in Salford are being

:02:21. > :02:23.recreated in a play. Hundreds of people were arrested as a result of

:02:24. > :02:26.the trouble which spread to the North West from London three years

:02:27. > :02:29.ago. The theatre company Footlights is using word`for`word accounts of

:02:30. > :02:31.youths who looted shops and torched cars, and their victims. Alex

:02:32. > :02:34.Worsick reports. They decide to gather near Salford

:02:35. > :02:36.Precinct and then the trouble escalates. These actors are

:02:37. > :02:40.recreating the exact movements of those involved.

:02:41. > :02:43.At the time of the riots, I was working with a lot of young people

:02:44. > :02:47.in their summer holidays and little children and they were getting

:02:48. > :02:51.scared at what they saw on the news. What caused it? What effect does it

:02:52. > :02:54.have on people? And why are these young men so angry?

:02:55. > :02:57.The play's researchers have interviewed the police, business

:02:58. > :03:00.owners, residents and one of the ringleaders, who's serving more than

:03:01. > :03:05.five years in prison. His mother's been watching the rehearsals.

:03:06. > :03:11.I just sat crying, to be honest. I found it very emotional seeing my

:03:12. > :03:18.life and Zac's life up there. But I think it's going to get some

:03:19. > :03:21.messages across. The theatre company's using the play

:03:22. > :03:23.to help those involved, including Zac Challinor, develop skills for

:03:24. > :03:27.the future. He now believes that he can do

:03:28. > :03:31.something and there is light at the end of the tunnel and, hopefully, he

:03:32. > :03:33.will get a job when he comes out. Which is all he wants. He wants that

:03:34. > :03:44.opportunity. The Queen Is Dead runs at The Lowry

:03:45. > :03:47.in Salford on Monday and Tuesday. Three Liverpool players have been

:03:48. > :03:50.named on the short list for the PFA's player of the year award. Luis

:03:51. > :03:53.Suarez and Daniel Sturridge are nominated along with captain Steven

:03:54. > :03:56.Gerrard. Manchester City's Yaya Toure is also on the list.

:03:57. > :03:59.Burnley are on course to win automatic promotion to the Premier

:04:00. > :04:03.League this evening. They're beating Blackpool 1`0 with just over ten

:04:04. > :04:09.minutes to go. If they win and Derby fail to win later, they'll go up.

:04:10. > :04:13.Elsewhere in the Championship, Wigan's play off push is right on

:04:14. > :04:15.track after a 3`0 win over Reading. Goalless draws for Bolton and

:04:16. > :04:18.Blackburn. In League One, much needed wins for

:04:19. > :04:21.Crewe and Oldham. Tranmere were beaten by Gillingham and Preston

:04:22. > :04:24.lost at Brentford. In League Two, wins for Bury and Fleetwood, draws

:04:25. > :04:29.for Accrington and Morecambe and Rochdale were beaten 3`0 at home.

:04:30. > :04:32.In Super League, St Helens stay top despite getting beaten by Wigan 33

:04:33. > :04:43.points to 14. Warrington thrashed Widnes 44`6. Salford are at half

:04:44. > :04:50.time in their game against Huddersfield and are 10`22.

:04:51. > :05:00.What a lovely day we have had. The temperatures have varied across the

:05:01. > :05:07.region. For many hours, 12`14. And tomorrow should be the same. We have

:05:08. > :05:19.a lot of sunshine in store. It will not last for ever. Sunday it looks

:05:20. > :05:28.like a day of change. It will be a cloudy day Asbel Monday. `` as will

:05:29. > :05:38.Monday. Tonight, dry and clear and cold. We could have a frost in some

:05:39. > :05:45.places. A cold start tomorrow morning, but lovely, dry and fine.

:05:46. > :05:51.In the afternoon, more cloud creeping across the Pennines, but it

:05:52. > :05:57.won't spoil the day. Thank you. That is all for now. We

:05:58. > :06:09.will be back just after ten o'clock. Goodbye.

:06:10. > :06:14.Today we have seen temperatures rising if Scotland but again

:06:15. > :06:17.tonight, with the clear skies and light wind temperatures will fall

:06:18. > :06:22.sharply, and for many of us, we are looking at a touch of frost. The

:06:23. > :06:25.satellite picture tells a story nicely. This belt of cloud is

:06:26. > :06:29.sitting in the far north-west of Scotland, we have had this cloud

:06:30. > :06:33.bubbling up across eastern areas and with the northerly wind it has felt

:06:34. > :06:36.cold in East Anglia. That cloud is going to melt away, we will get an

:06:37. > :06:39.easterly breeze picking the cloud back in again later in the night in

:06:40. > :06:43.eastern areas and we still have this cloud and rain in the far north-west

:06:44. > :06:47.of Scotland, but for most we will have clear sky, light wind, Ness are

:06:48. > :06:48.the temperatures in towns and city, spin it
