:00:00. > :00:10.the late news at 10. 15pm. Now it's time for the news where you

:00:11. > :00:14.Good evening. Representatives of The Co`operative Group, meeting in

:00:15. > :00:17.Manchester today, have voted unanimously in favour of proposals

:00:18. > :00:22.to overhaul the way the 150`year`old company is run. The mutual, founded

:00:23. > :00:24.in Rochdale in the mid 1800s approved the plans for elected board

:00:25. > :00:28.directors and greater powers for individual members in line with

:00:29. > :00:32.reforms suggested in a report by the former City minister Lord Myners,

:00:33. > :00:36.published earlier this month. Police are appealing for information

:00:37. > :00:39.after a 76`year`old man died when he fell from a motorway bridge in

:00:40. > :00:43.Denton. At about 18:50PM last night the man fell on to the M67 westbound

:00:44. > :00:49.carriageway into the pathway of moving traffic. A skip van managed

:00:50. > :00:52.to swerve and avoid the man, but a transit van hit him and he was

:00:53. > :00:55.pronounced dead at the scene. The Royal Navy joined forces with

:00:56. > :00:59.Greater Manchester Police and Fire Service today to encourage people to

:01:00. > :01:02.be safe around the water as part of the Safe4Summer campaign. The Navy's

:01:03. > :01:06.fast patrol vessel, HMS Biter took to the water in Salford Quays with

:01:07. > :01:08.the help of students from Salford and Manchester University cadets and

:01:09. > :01:12.carried out a man`overboard drill. One of the Lake District's biggest

:01:13. > :01:16.stars returned to Kendal today for the premiere of his latest film.

:01:17. > :01:19.Postman Pat was born in the town in 1978 when his creator John Cunliffe

:01:20. > :01:22.was living near the Greenside Post Office. Today they were reunited on

:01:23. > :01:26.the red carpet at a special screening of Postman Pat The Movie.

:01:27. > :01:30.Naomi Cornwell was there. Now a sequin clad Hollywood star,

:01:31. > :01:34.Postman Pat came home to his birthplace today to host a local

:01:35. > :01:42.premiere of his new movie. No, I missed my...hang on a minute. Can I

:01:43. > :01:47.just start again please? In the film, Pat enters a TV talent show

:01:48. > :01:54.hosted by a Simon Cowbell. But while he's away, robots take over his

:01:55. > :01:59.postal service. The Patbot 3000. He is an ordinary man but he is like a

:02:00. > :02:05.superhero. Is your postman like that? No. Because it originated from

:02:06. > :02:11.Cumbria makes it more exciting here. I like it because he has a quad bike

:02:12. > :02:15.and a helicopter. He is one of the great British icons. I'm thrilled to

:02:16. > :02:20.be postman Pat. Mrs Goggins' post office was based by a real one, here

:02:21. > :02:26.at Greenside in Kendal. It closed in 2003, but its role in Postman Pat's

:02:27. > :02:30.success has not been forgotten. We are literally within about 100

:02:31. > :02:34.metres from where I lived in Kendal. Just up the hill behind the brewery

:02:35. > :02:40.centre, I sat in a little back bedroom stusy writing. Fans will be

:02:41. > :02:45.pleased to see despite the high tech make over, Postman Pat is as

:02:46. > :02:50.accident prone as ever. BBC North West.

:02:51. > :02:54.The Queen's Baton has continued its tour of the Isle of Man tour as part

:02:55. > :02:57.of a nine`month journey around the Commonwealth nations and

:02:58. > :03:00.territories. The baton is on the island for four days before

:03:01. > :03:06.continuing onto Northern Ireland on Tuesday. As part of it's tour it was

:03:07. > :03:08.carried up to the top of the Laxey Wheel, the largest working water

:03:09. > :03:12.wheel in the world! What's great about that Baton is

:03:13. > :03:17.that it is the real thing that has been all over the world. Unlike the

:03:18. > :03:20.Olympic Torch where there are dozens of them for sale, there is only one

:03:21. > :03:25.Commonwealth Baton that has been touched by thousands of people. It's

:03:26. > :03:30.been underwater, across deserts and now it has been to the top of Laxey

:03:31. > :03:34.Wheel. So, It is great. In fact it's a huge weekend for

:03:35. > :03:37.sport in the north west. In Rugby League. Magic weekend is well

:03:38. > :03:42.underway with all 14 sides brought together for seven fixtures at the

:03:43. > :03:44.Etihad over two days. Earlier this afternoon, Widnes Vikings overcame

:03:45. > :03:51.Salford Red Devils 30`24 to claim their first ever Magic Weekend

:03:52. > :03:54.victory. In a few minutes Wigan Warriors take on Leeds Rhinos and

:03:55. > :03:59.tomorrow evening Warrington Wolves will play St Helens. The streets of

:04:00. > :04:04.central Manchester were transformed into a top class athletics venue

:04:08. > :04:11.Yohan Blake won the men's 150 meters on the track on Deansgate, though he

:04:12. > :04:13.failed to beat Usain Bolt's 2009 world best, while Olympic champion

:04:14. > :04:21.Greg Rutherford won the men's long jump in a temporary arena built in

:04:22. > :04:28.Albert Square. And now for the weather.

:04:32. > :04:35.into the 20s. It'll be cloudy tomorrow but we will stay dry and on

:04:36. > :04:38.the warm side. There will be cloud around tonight but we stayed dry,

:04:39. > :04:43.some clear spells other temperatures will be on the muggy side, around

:04:44. > :04:46.ten to 12 Celsius. A bright start for many of us tomorrow morning,

:04:47. > :04:50.there will be some sunshine but in general there will be a little more

:04:51. > :04:53.of cloud, particularly in the Isle of Man. Best sunshine across the

:05:19. > :05:22.Suffolk was warmer than Ibiza and Crete. There was lots of warm

:05:23. > :05:24.sunshine to be found across England and Wales. Of course, that hasn't

:05:25. > :05:25.been the story
