:00:00. > 3:59:59full coverage on BBC One of the European election results after the

:00:00. > :00:15.news where you are. Good evening.

:00:16. > :00:18.The count for the North West's European Elections is well underway

:00:19. > :00:21.at Manchester Town Hall tonight. Voters in the region went to the

:00:22. > :00:29.ballot box on Thursday to return eight MEPs. Our political editor

:00:30. > :00:40.Arif Ansari is at the count. What are you human? `` what is

:00:41. > :00:44.happening? Is no official results yet but plenty of speculation and

:00:45. > :00:47.unofficial results coming through. The first thing to say is that five

:00:48. > :00:55.years ago, when we had the elections, the big news was that

:00:56. > :00:59.Nick Griffin was elected one of our eight European MPs. It is very clear

:01:00. > :01:04.that he has lost that seat and will be out of the European Parliament.

:01:05. > :01:07.He arrived earlier at the town hall, where they are coordinating and

:01:08. > :01:12.collating results from across the region. I gather that eggs were

:01:13. > :01:16.thrown at him and he is inside the building but only to witness his own

:01:17. > :01:22.defeat. The other big news is that the Liberal Democrats, who walk one

:01:23. > :01:27.Mac of those seats, has also lost. `` who hold one of those seats.

:01:28. > :01:31.Chris Davis has privately conceded that he is not going to hold the

:01:32. > :01:37.seat. When we are likely to your more? I think they will announce the

:01:38. > :01:45.Manchester pretty soon but they have to hear from almost 40 councils from

:01:46. > :01:49.across the region. It is still probably about an hour away. From

:01:50. > :01:54.what I have been told, we are going to end up with Labour winning and

:01:55. > :01:59.taking three seats, with UKIP probably getting three and with the

:02:00. > :02:04.Tories probably getting too. That means that the British National

:02:05. > :02:05.Party is out, the Lib Dems are out and the Green party has probably

:02:06. > :02:08.missed also. Meanwhile, Southport's Lib Dem MP

:02:09. > :02:11.John Pugh is questioning Nick Clegg's leadership of the party

:02:12. > :02:14.after local election saw them lose more than 250 local councillors. Mr

:02:15. > :02:17.Pugh suggested a dozen of his Commons colleagues had expressed

:02:18. > :02:20.doubts about the Deputy Prime Minister saying, "While the Captain

:02:21. > :02:24.goes down with the ship, there's no need for the ship to go down with

:02:25. > :02:28.the captain." But Cheadle's Lib Dem MP Mark Hunter told Sunday Politics

:02:29. > :02:31.that it would be foolish to change leaders now. There is clearly a

:02:32. > :02:34.problem about engagement, which we have acknowledged. We have to work

:02:35. > :02:38.harder at getting that message across and finding other ways in

:02:39. > :02:42.which we might be able to do it. But I do not think the idea of changing

:02:43. > :02:53.leaders 12 months out from a general election... The idea that with one

:02:54. > :02:56.single bound we can be free of all these problems and a new leader will

:02:57. > :02:58.magically transform our fortune is for the birds.

:02:59. > :03:01.One of the region's biggest animal charities has launched a campaign to

:03:02. > :03:05.help prevent dogs overheating in cars. The Dog's Trust says there's

:03:06. > :03:09.been an annual rise in the number of dogs dying in the North West, with

:03:10. > :03:13.many owners unaware of the danger to their pets. They need to really

:03:14. > :03:16.think about what they are doing when they leave the dog in the car.

:03:17. > :03:19.Basically do not do it. Please do not do it.

:03:20. > :03:22.Liverpool's first Rock and Roll Marathon and Half Marathon's been

:03:23. > :03:25.taking place today. The 7,500 runners were greeted with live music

:03:26. > :03:30.and entertainment at almost every mile. The event ` which was spread

:03:31. > :03:35.across the city ` started and finished at the iconic waterfront.

:03:36. > :03:39.Really nice out in the park. A good day up there and then coming along

:03:40. > :03:42.the Mersey towards the end was perfect. Seeing kids, dog walkers or

:03:43. > :03:47.people supporting their rain and their family. It feels great to have

:03:48. > :03:50.loads of scousers cheering us on. It was brilliant fun. Lovely weather.

:03:51. > :03:54.Lovely city to run around. Absolutely amazing. I am getting

:03:55. > :03:59.married next Saturday and my bride`to`be is about an hour behind

:04:00. > :04:01.me. She cannot catch me! In Super League Ben Currie's brace

:04:02. > :04:08.helped Warrington to a `` Here's the weather with Mel

:04:09. > :04:11.Coles. `` Here's the weather

:04:12. > :04:14.Good evening. The showers are continuing to clear away but will

:04:15. > :04:18.put in another appearance tomorrow. We should however see more in the

:04:19. > :04:21.way of dry and bright spells. The showers this evening are losing

:04:22. > :04:24.their momentum. As they start to clear away, clear spells will

:04:25. > :04:28.develop elsewhere. We may see a few patches of mist and fog first thing

:04:29. > :04:31.tomorrow. Tomorrow gets off to a largely dry start. Some bright

:04:32. > :04:34.spells around during the morning. It is not until the afternoon that we

:04:35. > :04:37.begin to see those showers creeping in. Some of which could be

:04:38. > :04:40.potentially heavy and thundery. Looking ahead to Tuesday, some

:04:41. > :04:45.showers around but it looks as though we might see some rain a

:04:46. > :04:47.little bit later on. That's it from me. See you tomorrow.

:04:48. > :05:14.Goodnight. Good evening to you. Tomorrow the

:05:15. > :05:18.weather will be a little like a box of chocolate, you don't know what

:05:19. > :05:24.you are going to get until you head out. The weather was clear cut

:05:25. > :05:28.today, sunshine in the Midlands and the north.

:05:29. > :05:31.Tomorrow, there's going to be a mix of everything across the country and

:05:32. > :05:36.it will be changing a lot from morning into the afternoon and into

:05:37. > :05:40.the evening. This is what the weather is going to look like in the

:05:41. > :05:44.early hours, rain in the south-east, showers dotted around across western

:05:45. > :05:49.areas, and as far as the headline goes for Bank Holiday Monday, we'll

:05:50. > :05:53.call it sunshine and thundery showers, because they'll be hefty

:05:54. > :05:57.later on in the afternoon on Monday. This is what it starts like in the

:05:58. > :06:01.course of the morning. Note it is splodges of blue indicating the

:06:02. > :06:04.rainfall. They keep changing and moving into different places, there

:06:05. > :06:08.is a lot of sunshine coming through. In terms of the thundery downpours,

:06:09. > :06:13.we think the worst will be through this portion here whereas across the

:06:14. > :06:16.east, probably talking ability cloud and rain on and off with a bit of

:06:17. > :06:17.sunshine
