:01:14. > :01:16.The children here seem bright and ambitious.

:01:17. > :01:23.I learn lots of things and I would like to teach somebody.

:01:24. > :01:32.Do all your parents and families want you to do well at school?

:01:33. > :01:36.But Oldham has the lowest skills levels

:01:37. > :01:40.across the ten boroughs of Greater Manchester, the lowest weekly wages,

:01:41. > :01:45.and the council leader says there can be a lack of ambition too.

:01:46. > :01:48.I think for a lot of people, they have been let down by the

:01:49. > :01:51.system over decades and generations and what we are trying to do is say,

:01:52. > :01:55.The reality is, everyone is improving and Oldham

:01:56. > :01:58.needs to improve that much better to make sure our people get

:01:59. > :02:01.Oldham might be committed to raising standards across the town

:02:02. > :02:04.but the council have less direct control over schools

:02:05. > :02:09.which are increasingly becoling academies and are more independent.

:02:10. > :02:12.In fact, there are now 11 different types of school in Oldham,

:02:13. > :02:19.We can be better than we are at the moment and it matters that children

:02:20. > :02:23.The Commission is ambitious to raise Oldham's game and it's got

:02:24. > :02:33.Five Deemster cars have been driven into Liverpool Cathedral this

:02:34. > :02:35.afternoon to mark the start of the 90th anniversary celebrations

:02:36. > :02:41.They made the stop off en route to the Isle of Man, where they're

:02:42. > :02:45.The vehicles ceased production in 1924,

:02:46. > :02:50.the same year the cathedral was consecrated as a place of worship.

:02:51. > :02:53.These Deemster motor cars were manufactured for a decade

:02:54. > :03:01.As it happens, that is the very decade in which the far east end

:03:02. > :03:04.of the cathedral that you c`n see behind me was under construction.
