:07:42. > :07:44.who won it when she `` when the event was here last thing. Tiger

:07:45. > :07:52.Woods, of course. He did not start very well but ended not too badly.

:07:53. > :07:56.But as you know from some of the people who have travelled from

:07:57. > :08:02.across the world to see all of the big names. I have come from

:08:03. > :08:08.Australia. Because the best I have seen so far. It is just gre`t. We do

:08:09. > :08:10.not have things like that. H think it is absolutely fantastic `nd the

:08:11. > :08:12.weather makes it better. It is Well, we heard there about the hopes

:08:13. > :11:53.for a boost to the local economy. Hundreds of thousands

:11:54. > :11:56.of people are expected here over the next few days while the TV `udience

:11:57. > :11:59.is estimated at half a billhon. So what have they been doing

:12:43. > :12:46.selling merchandise and souvenirs. The shops selling merchandise and

:12:47. > :12:48.souvenirs. They did pretty well out of it.

:12:49. > :12:50.More than 250 taxi drivers and volunteers have had

:12:51. > :12:58.Olympics`style training in how to make visitors feel welcome.

:12:59. > :13:09.It is a great opportunity, because I want to show the world what we have

:13:10. > :13:13.24 and sure everyone that h`s a great place. I want to be p`rt of

:13:14. > :13:18.something great. It is relatively close to the big urban centres in

:13:19. > :13:21.the north. They have the Peggy crowds here. They are hoping for

:13:22. > :13:25.even bigger this time. School children and scouts have

:13:26. > :13:28.been making golf bag gardens. Even the churches are getting in

:14:39. > :14:49.around the ADR. `` the area. How can you make sure that the event will

:14:50. > :14:51.not be forgotten? Today is `n example. We have been having a

:14:52. > :14:56.number of meetings with key businesses. Will `` we will be

:14:57. > :15:05.carrying on with those meethngs over the next few days. I wish you all

:15:06. > :15:13.the best. I cannot help you with the weather. I think Saturday M`y to be

:15:36. > :15:38.Ricky Jervis from Congleton, and Charles Beadell from Macclesfield

:15:39. > :15:44.Two buildings in the North West have been shortlisted

:15:45. > :15:56.The Everyman Theatre in Livdrpool, which reopened after

:16:11. > :16:12.And a dream come true for the Wirral factory worker teeing off

:16:13. > :16:35.Now it may be more than 100 miles away from the North West

:16:36. > :16:37.but Scotland's First Ministdr Alex Salmond was in Liverpool today,

:16:38. > :16:39.making his final speech in Dngland before the referendum.

:16:40. > :16:45.People who live here do not have a vote on independence.

:16:46. > :16:48.Some agree but many disagred and if given the chance would vote no.

:16:53. > :16:56.Here is a man who cares about haggis.

:16:57. > :17:09.But does he, should he, care about the independence debate?

:17:10. > :17:13.I think they should stay in the union.

:17:14. > :17:27.The Northwest is closer than you may think. Some say the haggis was

:17:32. > :17:40.What do you think that thesd men here happen common? Football. They

:17:41. > :17:44.are all for `` first`class football managers. They are all Scottish I

:17:45. > :17:53.do not see it making that mtch difference. I think it will call to

:17:54. > :17:58.the negative. At his first `` final speech, Alex Salmond said that the

:17:59. > :18:02.North West would benefit from an independent Scotland. What hs best

:18:03. > :18:10.for the future of Scotland will have a knock`on effect for the North of

:18:11. > :18:15.England also. Outside, a boss saying no to independence. I want better

:18:29. > :18:37.The truth will be in the when the Scottish people put into

:18:38. > :19:04.paper and fought. `` put pen to paper and fought. `` vote. @ lot of

:19:05. > :19:07.big names at the top, I havd been watching them today. We will find

:19:08. > :19:16.out in a moment how they have been getting on. A local man, who had to

:19:17. > :19:18.borrow clubs to get through the qualifying matches, he got here and

:19:19. > :19:37.he has made his mark. It is eight o'clock in the lorning,

:19:38. > :19:41.Tiger Woods is practising on the putting green behind us. A lot of

:19:42. > :19:51.people will be following hil around today, so this may be the closest

:19:52. > :19:56.that we get to him. Tiger Woods won the open the last time he c`me here

:19:57. > :20:02.in 2006, another superstar `mong the leading contenders is this lan. We

:20:03. > :20:08.are following him onto the third hole and he is about to pop for a

:20:09. > :20:15.birdie. Meanwhile, a lesser`known name was about to make his lark

:20:16. > :20:28.Here is John Singleton, the big north`westward is here at this open.

:20:29. > :20:34.`` North West hope. He really responded to the crowd. Also

:20:35. > :20:43.watching, has all the crowd. Also watching, his old golf coach. I got

:20:44. > :20:49.on a plane on Tuesday, I am tickled to death. We are a small, two`year

:20:50. > :21:01.school and we have a guy pl`ying in the British Open. Probably one of

:21:02. > :21:20.the greatest feelings I havd had in my way. `` on my way. `` in my life.

:21:21. > :21:26.It is a good day for John Shngleton, sadly he is the new the bottom of

:21:27. > :21:31.the leaderboard. He said it was the best more stringent to winnhng

:21:32. > :21:37.majors, she is currently at the top of the leaderboard. Currently six

:21:38. > :21:41.under par. Last year's leaddr is quite a bit down at the mintte. We

:21:42. > :21:47.saw Tiger Woods, he finished his round on a necessity, so very much

:21:48. > :21:56.in the mix. You can never write him off, can you? The former English

:21:57. > :22:05.amateur champion and wishes she d off this afternoon `` he st`rted

:22:06. > :22:11.this afternoon and it is looking quite well on the North West front.

:22:48. > :22:56.time. It is a fantastic event, it goes on until Sunday, when we'll

:22:57. > :23:02.find out who the winner is. It has been fantastic and it will be

:23:13. > :23:16.a week after taking Holland to third in the World Cup.

:23:17. > :23:19.He has a reputation as a disciplinarian and now has

:23:20. > :23:21.the challenge of rebuilding United after a disappointing season under

:23:22. > :23:23.David Moyes which resulted in seventh in the Premier Ldague

:23:24. > :23:41.United icon Sir Bobby Charlton today handed the club reins to manager he

:23:42. > :24:02.I hope I shall fulfil expectations. It will be difficult.

:24:03. > :24:06.The Dutchman has proved himself both at club and international ldvel

:24:07. > :24:08.His Holland team lost only once in the World Cup and that w`s on

:24:09. > :24:41.their performances in the l`st season. He needs

:24:42. > :24:46.the Champions League, we nedd to bring them up to win a titld again.
