:01:15. > :01:17.Thousands of homes across the region were damaged

:01:18. > :01:19.left without power after Storm Eva hit on Boxing Day.

:01:20. > :01:22.The Environment Agency was criticised by some for not doing

:01:23. > :01:25.Since then it says new flood schemes have

:01:26. > :01:26.protected over 2,000 more properties.

:01:27. > :01:29.6,000 tonnes of gravel removed from rivers and over 1,000 owners

:01:30. > :01:40.We are stood by the Salford flood Basin.

:01:41. > :01:42.It will flood designated areas to protect other areas downstream.

:01:43. > :01:44.We have opened a second basin since Storm Eva

:01:45. > :01:47.which means 1900 properties will be protected in the Salford area.

:01:48. > :01:49.We have worked hard across the whole of the

:01:50. > :01:53.North West and spent ?1.5 million improving our rivers

:01:54. > :01:57.At St Mary's they are still fundraising to replace

:01:58. > :02:09.equipment lost in the floods but say they do not like spirit or

:02:10. > :02:13.Stars from the North West have been amongst those paying

:02:14. > :02:16.tribute to George Michael, who died yesterday at the age of 53.
