:00:00. > :00:00.29th of March. That's all from the BBC's news at six. We now

:00:00. > :00:00.Welcome to North West Tonight with Roger Johnson and Annabel Tiffin.

:00:07. > :00:13.More than 170,000 people sign a petition calling on

:00:14. > :00:16.three-jobs George to choose which one he wants to do.

:00:17. > :00:19.Calls are growing for the Tatton MP to stand down after becoming

:00:20. > :00:25.Why post-Brexit Wirral no longer feels like home

:00:26. > :00:29.for the family with German roots who are going back.

:00:30. > :00:31.My party invitation had been taken away from me -

:00:32. > :00:35.As the aftermath of the referendum unfolded,

:00:36. > :00:39.it just got worse and worse and worse.

:00:40. > :00:41.Turning back time - enthusiasts campaign

:00:42. > :00:53.to reopen part of one of our most picturesque canals.

:00:54. > :00:59.And double delight - how jolly and Nancy's parents into change

:01:00. > :01:01.perceptions of Down's syndrome. We've had enough of, sort of,

:01:02. > :01:04.people feeling sorry for us, because there's nothing to feel

:01:05. > :01:07.sorry for us about. The pressure has mounted

:01:08. > :01:15.on the Tatton MP George Osborne today, after his appointment

:01:16. > :01:17.as editor of the More than 170,000 people

:01:18. > :01:23.have signed a petition, calling on the former Chancellor

:01:24. > :01:26.to decide which job he wants to do. Mr Osborne also has paid

:01:27. > :01:29.roles as an adviser to an asset management fund,

:01:30. > :01:31.and a fellowship with He's also earned ?780,000

:01:32. > :01:36.pounds making speeches So, can he remain an effective

:01:37. > :01:43.representative for his constituents? George Osborne is facing calls

:01:44. > :01:51.to resign as MP for Tatton or forget about editing

:01:52. > :01:56.the London evening standard. Today a petition signed by thousands

:01:57. > :01:58.of people was handed in to his constiuency

:01:59. > :02:10.office in Knutsford. Everybody feels the same way, and we

:02:11. > :02:16.don't feel that he is going to be able to give us the time required to

:02:17. > :02:17.do his job as an MP, and he should stand down maybe and let somebody

:02:18. > :02:19.else do that for us. The former Chancellor takes

:02:20. > :02:21.up his new job in May but although former ministers

:02:22. > :02:24.are required to tell a parliamentary watchdog about outside jobs,

:02:25. > :02:34.he didn't wait for its advice. Will the Minister confirmed what

:02:35. > :02:38.action the Government intends to take against ex-ministers who appear

:02:39. > :02:42.to be in breach of the ministerial code on their failure to seek advice

:02:43. > :02:44.before accepting an appointment? Mr Osborne has several gets paid

:02:45. > :02:47.?650,000 a year to advise Blackrock Investment Institute -

:02:48. > :02:49.three after-dinner speeches for the Washington Speaker's Bureau

:02:50. > :02:51.earned him 98,000. In total, he's made around

:02:52. > :02:54.780,000 from all speeches He's also the unpaid chairman of

:02:55. > :03:06.the Northern Powerhouse Partnership. I thought it was important to be

:03:07. > :03:13.here, although unfortunately we have missed the deadline for the Evening

:03:14. > :03:18.Standard. In my view... In my view, Mr Speaker, this Parliament is

:03:19. > :03:21.enhanced when we have people of different experience take part in

:03:22. > :03:26.our robust debate, and when people who have held senior ministerial

:03:27. > :03:27.office continued to contribute to the decisions we have to make.

:03:28. > :03:30.In a letter, the former chairman of Committee on Standards

:03:31. > :03:51.The committee for standards and public life will be looking at this

:03:52. > :03:53.matter again and it is of ongoing concern to the public widely and has

:03:54. > :03:55.been for many years. Later this week,

:03:56. > :03:56.George Osbourne will be at the Tatton Conservative

:03:57. > :03:58.Assocation Annual General Meeting, where he will have to explain how

:03:59. > :04:01.he can really be the voice Yunus Mulla,

:04:02. > :04:06.BBC North West, Knutsford. Staying with politics,

:04:07. > :04:08.and police have sent two more files about the Conservatives' spending

:04:09. > :04:10.during the last General Election It was previously announced that

:04:11. > :04:16.Bury North MP David Nuttall Now Cheadle's Mary Robinson

:04:17. > :04:21.and Hazel Grove's William Wragg will also have their expenditure

:04:22. > :04:27.scrutinised. A family from Merseyside say

:04:28. > :04:29.they're going to leave Graham Kavanagh, who's English,

:04:30. > :04:35.and his German wife Wibke They say, for personal

:04:36. > :04:39.and political reasons, it's the best thing to do for them

:04:40. > :04:42.and their six-year-old Our Merseyside reporter,

:04:43. > :04:47.Andy Gill, has the story. Wibke Hott at home in

:04:48. > :04:50.Wallasey this afternoon - she and her husband are looking

:04:51. > :04:53.for new jobs in or near She came to Liverpool to study

:04:54. > :04:59.community arts, but, after 19 years on Merseyside,

:05:00. > :05:04.Brexit means they now want to leave. After years of being here, bringing

:05:05. > :05:06.ourselves into the community, of being fully active members

:05:07. > :05:12.of our community, all of a sudden By extension,

:05:13. > :05:17.my child is seen as other. At the Tory Party Conference,

:05:18. > :05:20.where they talked about, every company has to have a list

:05:21. > :05:23.of foreign people working Brexit hasn't happened yet,

:05:24. > :05:29.so why not wait to see, once it has happened,

:05:30. > :05:31.what the UK will be like and what things

:05:32. > :05:34.will be like for you? There's nothing here

:05:35. > :05:36.that tells me that this I think there is going to be really

:05:37. > :05:42.long lasting repercussions, and it will take probably ten or 15

:05:43. > :05:46.years until it stabilises. Now, if we wouldn't

:05:47. > :05:48.have a six-year-old daughter, But for our daughter,

:05:49. > :05:55.I don't think that is OK, You have said that this is a lot

:05:56. > :06:01.to do with what you think your daughter's future will be,

:06:02. > :06:03.but it will also be I think there will be

:06:04. > :06:11.aspects of her life that really will be disrupted,

:06:12. > :06:14.and I think the biggest is, really, to leave her family behind,

:06:15. > :06:16.and to leave her grandmother, her aunts and uncles,

:06:17. > :06:18.her cousins behind, She is really, really

:06:19. > :06:20.devastated about that. Wibke's been involved a number

:06:21. > :06:27.of community projects, leading a choir for

:06:28. > :06:29.recovering addicts, She's an inspiration to myself

:06:30. > :06:35.and my daughter and every And it's a real shame

:06:36. > :06:42.that our community and our country Wibke was on Question Time when it

:06:43. > :06:49.came from Wallasey last month. I have an English husband,

:06:50. > :06:54.I have a German-English child, and I can now see what I do

:06:55. > :06:57.with this and how I reconcile this shaking-up to my identity that this

:06:58. > :06:59.referendum has caused. A referendum that has

:07:00. > :07:03.been campaigned on lies, And received some hostile

:07:04. > :07:08.reaction on social media. So, some people are suggesting

:07:09. > :07:12.I go and join some other I mean, everyone says that it's not

:07:13. > :07:20.racist, what's happening, but there are racist undertones

:07:21. > :07:22.to the people behind It just leaves a bad taste

:07:23. > :07:28.in the mouth, effectively. This was a democratic vote

:07:29. > :07:31.and you could vote either way. The Leave camp won,

:07:32. > :07:34.so, after 19 years living here, why not just accept that vote

:07:35. > :07:40.and carry on as best you can? If those who lost in a democratic

:07:41. > :07:44.vote stopped shouting about how unfair they find it and how

:07:45. > :07:46.they don't agree with it, we would not see any change,

:07:47. > :07:51.so I think it is our job to keep shouting out about what it is

:07:52. > :07:54.that we would like to see The family plan to move

:07:55. > :07:57.to Germany in August. Andy Gill,

:07:58. > :08:09.BBC North West Tonight, Wallasey. If you want to see more of that

:08:10. > :08:11.story and other similar ones, look for BBC stories on Facebook.

:08:12. > :08:13.Talks aimed at resolving a dispute between Merseyrail and the rail

:08:14. > :08:19.union the RMT have broken down with each side blaming the other.

:08:20. > :08:29.There will be more talks during the Grand National Festival. Talks broke

:08:30. > :08:33.down today. The RMT says the introduction of driver only trains

:08:34. > :08:38.will be unsafe and Merseyrail has accused them of refusing to discuss

:08:39. > :08:39.the role of on-board staff when trains are introduced in three

:08:40. > :08:41.years' time. It will undoubtedly cause

:08:42. > :08:43.immeasurable damage to the economy at large, if the RMT executive

:08:44. > :08:45.decide that their next strike is going to be

:08:46. > :08:47.during the Aintree Festival. I sincerely hope that they think

:08:48. > :08:52.twice about doing that. We have tried to talk today, but,

:08:53. > :08:55.as I say, they have been fruitless and the company don't want to talk

:08:56. > :08:58.about the issues that are at the heart of the dispute,

:08:59. > :09:01.so we have got no alternative than to recommend further

:09:02. > :09:03.industrial action takes place. That will be decided by our

:09:04. > :09:06.executive in London in 24 hours. Police have revealed that a body

:09:07. > :09:08.found following a Lancaster house Cem Bora was thought

:09:09. > :09:12.to have been trapped inside the property

:09:13. > :09:14.on Conniston Road early An 18-year-old man and a 12-year-old

:09:15. > :09:18.boy managed to escape, Investigations into the cause

:09:19. > :09:27.of the fire are continuing. A coroner has concluded

:09:28. > :09:29.a 13-year-old boy's death was misadventure,

:09:30. > :09:31.after he was crushed under The court heard Kaden Gowers

:09:32. > :09:34.probably released the handbrake, and was run over as he tried to stop

:09:35. > :09:41.the car rolling downhill. Police investigating the escape

:09:42. > :09:43.of convicted murderer Shaun Walmsley have offered a ?20,000 reward

:09:44. > :09:46.of his own money for He remains at large after being

:09:47. > :09:52.sprung from custody during a visit Detectives say people

:09:53. > :09:56.shouldn't approach Walmsley, as he could be with the armed men

:09:57. > :10:07.who helped him escape. With child literacy levels below

:10:08. > :10:09.the national average, there's a need to read

:10:10. > :10:11.for youngsters in Blackpool, and a group of dads in the town have

:10:12. > :10:15.done their bit to help. The fathers have been brightening up

:10:16. > :10:17.one of the town's libraries They have renovated part of their

:10:18. > :10:26.local library. Once upon a time a group of dads,

:10:27. > :10:29.called the Blackpool Super Dads, This is a story of how

:10:30. > :10:32.manpower's made a difference. This was the Palatine Library before

:10:33. > :10:36.the group got to work. It's the local dads that have done

:10:37. > :10:42.this and it is about us getting It is the best thing

:10:43. > :10:47.we could have done really, and seeing where we are

:10:48. > :10:51.now, it's fantastic. These dads know how

:10:52. > :11:01.important reading is. What is your favourite book?

:11:02. > :11:09.Tiger. Is your dad a good reader?

:11:10. > :11:15.100 Dalmatians. 101 Dalmatians, yes.

:11:16. > :11:16.You are an expert in these books? She is my sixth child so I am used

:11:17. > :11:19.to reading. All this has been paid

:11:20. > :11:21.for by Lottery funding under initiative, to improve children's

:11:22. > :11:32.early lives in a town where literacy It is about giving babies in

:11:33. > :11:37.Blackpool the opportunity to thrive and be part of a literate community,

:11:38. > :11:40.so when they go to school they feel ready to learn and that their

:11:41. > :11:42.imagination is there and children have that opportunity to grow that.

:11:43. > :11:44.And the dads have bonded over this building project.

:11:45. > :11:52.When you go to children's centres it is full of ladies and children, so

:11:53. > :11:56.it was nice to meet a group of dads to put this structure together

:11:57. > :11:57.together and create a sense of community.

:11:58. > :12:00.And the dads here are hoping this story has a happy ever after ending

:12:01. > :12:10.Stuart Pollitt, BBC North West Tonight, Blackpool.

:12:11. > :12:17.That is a library and they have done a beautiful job.

:12:18. > :12:20.The Conservative candidate for Mayor of Greater Manchester Sean Anstee

:12:21. > :12:24.He launched it at the Bury Black Pudding Company alongside Tory Local

:12:25. > :12:27.One of his policies includes looking at extending

:12:28. > :12:31.He said employment will be a key priority.

:12:32. > :12:37.I want to make sure skills and employment, and that people become

:12:38. > :12:41.work ready, are key to me to ensure we have a good economy that is able

:12:42. > :12:44.to support a healthy and more prosperous Greater Manchester.

:12:45. > :12:47.They call it the lost canal - one of the region's most

:12:48. > :12:48.beautiful waterways - but the Northern Reaches

:12:49. > :12:50.of the Lancaster Canal through Lancashire and Cumbria have

:12:51. > :12:54.In some places, it's disappeared altogether.

:12:55. > :12:57.But enthusiasts are campaigning for it to be reopened

:12:58. > :13:05.This is a journey few get the chance to enjoy -

:13:06. > :13:07.the winding waters of the Lancaster Canal's

:13:08. > :13:12.For decades, this 14-mile stretch has been

:13:13. > :13:17.unnavigable, crisscrossed and blocked by modern roads -

:13:18. > :13:20.in some parts overgrown, in others filled in.

:13:21. > :13:25.Well, a determined group of volunteers and enthusiasts aren't

:13:26. > :13:31.prepared to let this canal a lost canal forever.

:13:32. > :13:32.The navigable section of the Lancaster Canal,

:13:33. > :13:34.from Preston to Carnforth, attracts canal boats

:13:35. > :13:39.This is the stretch at Galgate near Lancaster.

:13:40. > :13:42.But once these boats reach Tewitfield, just north of Carnforth,

:13:43. > :13:50.As you'll see, there's an embankment been built up here to enable

:13:51. > :13:53.the A-road over the motorway, and that's causing a big blockage.

:13:54. > :13:57.They are significant challenges, but our engineers have been working

:13:58. > :14:00.on solutions over the past number of years, and we do believe we've

:14:01. > :14:04.got solutions to each of the blockages that we encounter.

:14:05. > :14:05.Hello, David. Hello.

:14:06. > :14:11.At Crooklands, I made up with the crew of the only boat that

:14:12. > :14:15.still gets the chance regularly to sail the Northern Reaches.

:14:16. > :14:18.The 28-foot Water Witch is operated by the Lancaster Canal trust

:14:19. > :14:24.to promote its long campaign to reopen the Northern Reaches.

:14:25. > :14:28.What will it mean to you to be able to ride a canal boat again down

:14:29. > :14:39.But, no, it would mean so much, just to be able to do it.

:14:40. > :14:41.The Lancaster Canal Regeneration Partnership has just secured

:14:42. > :14:46.?184,000 to reinstate the tow path along this filled in section

:14:47. > :14:51.from Kendal to Natland - one small step on the way

:14:52. > :14:58.There are lots of other canals in the south of England where,

:14:59. > :15:03.bit by bit, bridge by bridge, culverts and blockages

:15:04. > :15:07.are being moved and the navigable length gradually gets longer.

:15:08. > :15:10.Today's restoration estimate is around ?100 million,

:15:11. > :15:15.and enthusiasts say it's a price worth paying.

:15:16. > :15:25.Peter Marshall, BBC North West Tonight.

:15:26. > :15:29.It is fascinating and fantastic pictures. It is apparently called

:15:30. > :15:31.the Black and White canal because they took Cole up to Kendall and

:15:32. > :15:32.brought down limestone. And you can see more on that

:15:33. > :15:35.on tonight's Inside Out programme Richard joins us now for the sport

:15:36. > :15:39.Have you got your breath back after yesterday's

:15:40. > :15:45.Manchester City-Liverpool match? It was certainly breathless and from

:15:46. > :15:49.the first minute to the last. Even the post-match manager

:15:50. > :15:50.interviews were entertaining, Gael Clichy's clumsy challenge

:15:51. > :15:56.on Roberto Firmino led to the James Milner penalty that

:15:57. > :15:59.gave Liverpool the lead six minutes Kevin De Bruyne's fabulous

:16:00. > :16:04.cross and a tidy finish from Aguero levelled it up,

:16:05. > :16:08.but Adam Lallana missed a golden chance to win it for the visitors

:16:09. > :16:11.and somehow missed his kick. A 1-1 draw and delight

:16:12. > :16:17.for both bosses. It is one of the most special days

:16:18. > :16:20.of my life, because, after the defeat on Tuesday,

:16:21. > :16:22.Wednesday was so tough for us, and to recover how we recovered

:16:23. > :16:25.today, with this mentality to play Of course, it's a success

:16:26. > :16:29.to get a point at City It happens not every day,

:16:30. > :16:50.so that means, yeah, One postscript from this match, City

:16:51. > :16:51.have been charged by the FA for failing to control their players

:16:52. > :16:52.when the penalty was awarded. So, City stay third and Liverpool

:16:53. > :16:54.fourth, but Manchester United have closed the gap on their great rivals

:16:55. > :16:58.after a 3-1 win at Middlesbrough. United are four points

:16:59. > :17:01.behind Liverpool in fifth Onto Saturday's action now,

:17:02. > :17:07.and Burnley earned only their third away point of the season

:17:08. > :17:10.with a goalless draw at Sunderland. Everton's wantaway striker

:17:11. > :17:13.Romelu Lukaku put his contract issues aside to score his 20th

:17:14. > :17:16.and 21st goals of the season, as Ronald Koeman's side moved level

:17:17. > :17:24.on points with Arsenal in sixth. In the Championship,

:17:25. > :17:26.Blackburn Rovers led twice in the Lancashire derby

:17:27. > :17:28.with Preston North End, Elliott Bennett's piledriver

:17:29. > :17:29.opening the scoring. But North End earned

:17:30. > :17:31.a point in injury time when Aiden McGeady's goal

:17:32. > :17:39.made it 2-2. Into League One now,

:17:40. > :17:41.where a draw for Fleetwood and victory for Bolton saw them

:17:42. > :17:44.leapfrog the Cod Army into second. Filipe Marais scored Wanderers

:17:45. > :17:47.winner as they came from behind to beat Northampton 2-1

:17:48. > :17:51.at the Macron Stadium. And Rochdale ended their winless run

:17:52. > :17:54.at ten, Nathaniel Mendez Laing's goal helping them thrash

:17:55. > :18:01.Gillingham 4-1. In League Two, Crewe made it three

:18:02. > :18:04.wins from four by beating Colchester at home but how about this

:18:05. > :18:06.for a goal from Blackpool's It's the kind of goal more often

:18:07. > :18:11.seen on a rugby field, but his chip-and-chase effort

:18:12. > :18:14.secured his side a 3-1 win at Newport, and keeps

:18:15. > :18:16.alive the Seasiders hopes Over the last few years,

:18:17. > :18:22.whenever we've reported on Macclesfield Town,

:18:23. > :18:25.it's been a bad news story - relegation from the Football League,

:18:26. > :18:28.serious financial woes, concerns Tonight, though, the Silkmen

:18:29. > :18:33.are on their way to Wembley. They beat Tranmere on Saturday

:18:34. > :18:37.to make the final of the FA Trophy. Rovers will now focus on their push

:18:38. > :18:40.for promotion, while Macc are planning

:18:41. > :18:44.for their big day out. For both clubs,

:18:45. > :18:51.this was about one thing - What would it mean to

:18:52. > :18:56.all of the fans if you do It doesn't matter whether you are

:18:57. > :19:02.Man United or whether you are Macclesfield Town,

:19:03. > :19:05.you always want your team to get The priority for these two sides

:19:06. > :19:09.is to try to get back into the Football League, but,

:19:10. > :19:12.after disappointments in recent seasons, a Wembley cup final

:19:13. > :19:19.would be just the ticket. There was little between the two

:19:20. > :19:22.sides and, with home advantage, the Tranmere certainly

:19:23. > :19:25.had their moments, but it was Macclesfield Town

:19:26. > :19:29.who found the crucial way through. Ollie Norman with a terrific finish,

:19:30. > :19:36.scoring the only goal in the game. Rovers tried to respond, but

:19:37. > :19:42.Macclesfield's defence held firm. So, it's Macclesfield Town who win

:19:43. > :19:46.the day, and Tranmere Rovers can now concentrate on their push

:19:47. > :19:48.for promotion, but, for these Macclesfield fans,

:19:49. > :19:53.and of course the team, they can look forward to that

:19:54. > :19:57.big day out at Wembley. I can't believe we are

:19:58. > :20:00.going to Wembley now. How much are you looking

:20:01. > :20:02.forward to that? I've shaved my head for them

:20:03. > :20:09.to make money for charity. I've written a book and they've sold

:20:10. > :20:12.the proceeds of that, so... To get to Wembley, you know,

:20:13. > :20:21.it's just the icing Obviously we are devastated,

:20:22. > :20:27.because we set out to try to take We haven't achieved that,

:20:28. > :20:32.so we are gutted for When you have been at somewhere

:20:33. > :20:37.for so long, and you know everybody at the club and what it means

:20:38. > :20:40.to people, then it This team will take on York City

:20:41. > :20:47.in the final, with a chance for Macclesfield to win the FA

:20:48. > :20:50.Trophy for a third time - an opportunity they will be

:20:51. > :21:01.determined to make the most of. In Rugby League, amateur side

:21:02. > :21:05.Haydock put up a brave fight in their Challenge Cup tie

:21:06. > :21:07.at Championship Oldham. The club we featured

:21:08. > :21:09.on Friday scored three tries In Super League, Salford ended

:21:10. > :21:12.Castleford's unbeaten start to the season,

:21:13. > :21:14.Gareth O'Brien's late drop goal See all the action from that

:21:15. > :21:19.and all the weekend's games on The Super League Show,

:21:20. > :21:22.right here on BBC One Finally from me, a World Record

:21:23. > :21:28.was broken this weekend Shantelle Gaston-Hird knocked

:21:29. > :21:34.an amazing 15 minutes off the record for the fastest half marathon

:21:35. > :21:38.by a woman running backwards! She finished in just under

:21:39. > :21:42.two hours 32 minutes. Shantelle ran to raise awareness

:21:43. > :21:43.for the anti-bullying The idea behind running

:21:44. > :21:59.backwards is to not be afraid I presume the two guys either side

:22:00. > :22:07.are helping to make sure she knows she is all right. So that she does

:22:08. > :22:11.not trip over. I wondered where it went too. I think that is a terrific

:22:12. > :22:18.achievement, really. It is brilliant and she is in it for a good cause.

:22:19. > :22:24.Thank you very much. Nice to get a bit of backwards half marathon

:22:25. > :22:25.running. Thank you, Richard. And well done to the runner.

:22:26. > :22:27.When people see that Maria Belton has two young children

:22:28. > :22:30.with Down's syndrome, they'll often offer sympathetic words of comfort,

:22:31. > :22:33.But Maria says there's nothing to be sorry about.

:22:34. > :22:36.She wants the world to know how proud she is of them.

:22:37. > :22:42.She writes a blog about family life in Wirral and hopes international

:22:43. > :22:44.Down's Awareness Day tomorrow will help change attitudes.

:22:45. > :22:48.Our chief reporter Dave Guest has been to meet Maria and her family.

:22:49. > :22:50.# You'll never know, dear, how much I love you...#

:22:51. > :22:55.mum Maria, dad Neil, Ellie, who is 14, Joseph, two and a half,

:22:56. > :23:05.It just so happens that the two youngest members

:23:06. > :23:08.There's differences, of course there's differences,

:23:09. > :23:13.but there are more similarities, far more similarities

:23:14. > :23:14.between our children and a typical child

:23:15. > :23:24.You have decided to go public with your family's story to mark

:23:25. > :23:25.International Down's Syndrome Awareness Day tomorrow.

:23:26. > :23:29.We've had enough of, sort of, people feeling sorry for us,

:23:30. > :23:34.because there's nothing to feel sorry for us about.

:23:35. > :23:38.In fact, Maria calls Joey and Nancy her miracle babies.

:23:39. > :23:40.After Ellie's birth, Maria was told a medical condition

:23:41. > :23:44.would prevent her from having any further children.

:23:45. > :23:49.When she fell pregnant again, Maria was told the chances of a second

:23:50. > :23:54.She refused offers of tests to make sure.

:23:55. > :24:05.If this baby has Down's syndrome, then she'll have Down's syndrome.

:24:06. > :24:08.What do you think of your brother and sister?

:24:09. > :24:10.Well, I think they are absolutely gorgeous,

:24:11. > :24:12.and they are just so funny, and, to be quite honest,

:24:13. > :24:15.I don't really think about the whole diagnosis a whole lot.

:24:16. > :24:17.You know, just, like, in general, I just think,

:24:18. > :24:22.What do you hope for the future with Joseph and Nancy?

:24:23. > :24:24.I hope they are treated as equals as everybody else.

:24:25. > :24:27.I think we just want to make sure the kids can do

:24:28. > :24:30.whatever they want to do, and achieve whatever

:24:31. > :24:32.they're aiming to achieve, and not be held back

:24:33. > :24:37.because of other people's attitudes towards them.

:24:38. > :24:47.Dave Guest, BBC North West Tonight, Wirral.

:24:48. > :24:50.And it is a Downs syndrome awareness Day tomorrow and they are doing a

:24:51. > :24:52.fantastic job to raise awareness. Now let's take a look

:24:53. > :25:02.at the weather. Astronomically, it's the change of

:25:03. > :25:06.the season is today. It is as is bringing. Astronomically

:25:07. > :25:09.called this afternoon, with a massive drop in temperatures. We

:25:10. > :25:13.will return to the frost and a lot like winter through the next few

:25:14. > :25:18.days. As the front they would do, fantastic spells of sunshine, but a

:25:19. > :25:22.horrible start to the day, with this front causing problems. Watch the

:25:23. > :25:27.arrows with the error originating from here as we had to the next few

:25:28. > :25:32.days, so no doubt about being stuck in the cold are perhaps until around

:25:33. > :25:36.Friday. Into the weekend, less cold and the weather settles down. An

:25:37. > :25:39.area of low pressure tracking as, on the pressure charts moving across

:25:40. > :25:43.and bringing the weather fronts bumping into the cold air, and there

:25:44. > :25:48.could be sleet and snow in the forecast. Could be sleet and snow

:25:49. > :25:51.through the night tonight. You saw that swathes of rain clear and

:25:52. > :25:53.scattered showers left Right now. Through the evening and overnight,

:25:54. > :26:16.that is the story. The wind is brisk and warm, coming from

:26:17. > :26:18.a cold direction. You will be let out and about. Closed or 30 mph in

:26:19. > :26:21.coastal areas. Into the cold air when it bulbs you will see sleet and

:26:22. > :26:23.snow on higher-level routes, never where else the potential for a

:26:24. > :26:26.frost, really, but towns and cities with strong wind stays up above

:26:27. > :26:29.zero. In places around to Celsius and a four Celsius around the cost,

:26:30. > :26:32.but warm if you are out and about -- called and raw. If the ground is

:26:33. > :26:34.slippery where you live, that should not last for too long, nor should

:26:35. > :26:36.any frost, because the sun is up earlier. Again, you will see

:26:37. > :26:40.scattered showers on higher-level routes, sleet and snow and hail a

:26:41. > :26:44.possibility. Some showers lively and southern parts don't see as many,

:26:45. > :26:48.wanted as past lunchtime some showers die away. At wind is strong

:26:49. > :26:53.all the way through, and cold and brawl the way through. The numbers,

:26:54. > :26:57.six or eight Celsius, then waiting to see what happens tomorrow night.

:26:58. > :27:00.Another area of rain works through and there could be a light dusting

:27:01. > :27:06.on the ground of highest level routes. Heading into spring, winter

:27:07. > :27:10.is not yet done with us. It is awful. But not everywhere get

:27:11. > :27:14.it because it is the deal that will be cold.

:27:15. > :27:17.Possibly not a good thing to do, running in flip-flops, but Kate

:27:18. > :27:20.Thompson said she watched the woman running backwards yesterday and a

:27:21. > :27:23.man running in flip-flops. As if it is not harsh enough

:27:24. > :27:25.already. We are not doing that. Thank you for

:27:26. > :27:59.watching. Good night. The 24-year-old man

:28:00. > :28:02.has been charged with murder. You made sure an innocent man

:28:03. > :28:05.is charged! What gives you the right

:28:06. > :28:08.to say that he's innocent?
