:00:53. > :00:56.Local suppliers say they want their money after the lead

:00:57. > :00:58.contractor that built this power station goes bust with

:00:59. > :01:15.which was opened by the energy Mr just asked month. The power station

:01:16. > :01:17.is still operating as it is managed by a separate company.

:01:18. > :01:20.It's the country's newest power station, built at a cost of more

:01:21. > :01:23.than ?700 million and opened exactly a month ago by the Energy Minister.

:01:24. > :01:25.The power station is still operating as normal.

:01:26. > :01:29.It's owned by an entirely separate company and is providing energy

:01:30. > :01:35.But the contractor that was in charge of building it has

:01:36. > :01:40.It was a huge project, involving 35,000 cubic metres of concrete,

:01:41. > :01:48.850 construction workers and over 40 other companies from

:01:49. > :01:53.But now many of those subcontractors are owed money.

:01:54. > :02:02.The debts in this region alone total over ?1 million.

:02:03. > :02:07.This business based in alternate made some of the doors for the

:02:08. > :02:12.station. We are currently owed

:02:13. > :02:14.?90,000, including VAT. And what impact is that

:02:15. > :02:16.going to have on your company? Basically, we were going to expand

:02:17. > :02:19.this year, buy new machinery But we have basically had to put

:02:20. > :02:23.that back now six months. Totally disgusted

:02:24. > :02:26.with it, to be honest. Some businesses in the north west

:02:27. > :02:33.are owed hundreds of thousands We are an international benchmark in

:02:34. > :02:38.the construction of power stations with many stations constructed in

:02:39. > :02:40.Europe, Latin America and Africa. Duro Felguera UK Limited's parent

:02:41. > :02:43.company is based in Spain and has The liquidators say an investigation

:02:44. > :02:48.is now under way to see what, if any assets, the company

:02:49. > :03:09.still has, and whether firms For months now, hens have been kept

:03:10. > :03:14.inside for their own safety, but now after tens of thousands of birds

:03:15. > :03:18.were called, restrictions have been relaxed, they have been allowed back

:03:19. > :03:22.outdoors. The new assessment from the Government's chiefs that has put

:03:23. > :03:29.the risk at a lower level. Our environment correspondent is at a

:03:30. > :03:33.paltry farm near Knutsford. Yes, there are 2000 birds here, and today

:03:34. > :03:38.they were let out into the fresh air for the first time. You can see them

:03:39. > :03:42.happily pecking at the grass. There was no outbreak of bird flu here,

:03:43. > :03:48.but the same can't be said for other parts. In Lancashire, tens of

:03:49. > :03:50.thousands of birds had to be killed. Fortunately, from today,

:03:51. > :03:57.restrictions have been lifted right across the region. A taste of

:03:58. > :04:01.freedom for the first time this year. These hens are free range, but

:04:02. > :04:06.they have not been outside since December. The restrictions brought

:04:07. > :04:10.him where to stop the risk of avian flu spreading across the country. It

:04:11. > :04:15.is not too difficult to start with, you just have to make sure they have

:04:16. > :04:22.got more straw. We have given them more area to scratch around in. We

:04:23. > :04:28.give them green material as if they were outside, which is quite hard to

:04:29. > :04:33.do. Cabbages and broccoli and cauliflower is and all sorts of

:04:34. > :04:39.things. In some parts of the country, restrictions were listed

:04:40. > :04:43.six weeks ago. We are in Cheshire where wild birds gather, so it is

:04:44. > :04:48.classed as a high-risk area. Migrating birds have now left the

:04:49. > :04:55.country rap reading, so the level of risk has fallen. But it is not

:04:56. > :04:59.business as usual, all paltry are at risk, so there are restrictions in

:05:00. > :05:04.place. We are encouraging high security, we want all the hens

:05:05. > :05:09.outside to be said inside, not outside where wild birds could be.

:05:10. > :05:16.Keep people off your site, only essential people. It has been a

:05:17. > :05:21.difficult few months for the poultry industry, despite extra measures to

:05:22. > :05:28.keep farms clean, some had to kill thousands of birds. As migrating

:05:29. > :05:34.birds return later in the year, the chances of another outbreak will

:05:35. > :05:39.increase again. The risk has not gone away completely. Across Europe,

:05:40. > :05:44.we still are seeing cases of the disease with kept birds and we asked

:05:45. > :05:48.binding the disease in wild birds. Although the risk remains, this

:05:49. > :05:53.farmer is just pleased that his hens can now roam free again. Very

:05:54. > :06:01.relieved. Especially in spring, you can tell the birds were trying to

:06:02. > :06:04.get out. Desperate to get out. Many farmers and the NFC will save the

:06:05. > :06:08.public have really supported them because they have had to put

:06:09. > :06:16.stickers on to the egg boxes, saying that the hens had to be kept

:06:17. > :06:21.indoors. Sales have not fallen and they hope the virus does not return

:06:22. > :06:24.again by the end of the year. Thank you for updating us.

:06:25. > :06:27.A Catholic priest has been sentenced to 17 years for sexually abusing

:06:28. > :06:29.a teenage boy at a boarding school in Lancashire more

:06:30. > :06:32.74-year-old Father Michael Higginbottom was found guilty

:06:33. > :06:34.of eight sex offences at St Joseph's Roman Catholic

:06:35. > :06:36.Seminary in Upholland, which closed in the early 1990s.

:06:37. > :06:46.He abused the teenager in his personal living quarters.

:06:47. > :06:49.Two men have been arrested in connection with the death

:06:50. > :06:56.of a 20-year-old in Manchester City centre.

:06:57. > :06:58.Dylan Crawford was found unconscious on Spear Street

:06:59. > :07:02.A postmortem examination was inconclusive, and an investigation

:07:03. > :07:05.is under way to establish the cause of death.

:07:06. > :07:07.The men have been arrested on suspicion of theft

:07:08. > :07:13.A man who knowingly sold sick and dying puppies has been

:07:14. > :07:16.Jamie Parvizi, from Scholar Green in Cheshire, pleaded guilty

:07:17. > :07:20.to welfare and fraud offences relating to the selling of dogs.

:07:21. > :07:24.The RSPCA investigated after reports from people who had

:07:25. > :07:30.Parvizi has been disqualified from keeping animals for life.

:07:31. > :07:33.Workers on Arriva Rail North are staging a fresh 24-hour strike

:07:34. > :07:38.Members of the RMT union will walk out on Friday April 28th after talks

:07:39. > :07:42.They also went on strike last Saturday during the Grand National

:07:43. > :07:53.at Aintree as part of a campaign against new driver-controlled trains

:07:54. > :07:57.It's the final day for people in Merseyside and Greater Manchester

:07:58. > :08:06.to register to vote in the Mayoral elections.

:08:07. > :08:08.Voters will decide who will take control of public transport

:08:09. > :08:11.and issues around new housing and job creation on the 4th of May.

:08:12. > :08:13.The Manchester Gorton by-election is also taking

:08:14. > :08:17.It follows the the death of Labour MP Sir Gerald Kaufman who served

:08:18. > :08:22.Our political editor Nina Warhurst has been to meet some

:08:23. > :08:30.of the candidates as things hot up on the campaign trail.

:08:31. > :08:37.Walking through Gorton with big shoes to fill, this part of central

:08:38. > :08:43.Manchester has looked to labour to help solve social problems. Labour

:08:44. > :08:48.for 47 years. They have been going through ethical times year after

:08:49. > :08:52.year, they are facing this terrible cuts of the Tory led Government.

:08:53. > :08:59.People say life has not got better despite a Labour seat, so why should

:09:00. > :09:04.they vote for you again? They need someone with a strong Labour voice.

:09:05. > :09:08.I am made in Manchester, the Labour Party here are doing their best to

:09:09. > :09:16.deal with this terrible cuts. We are on their side. One thing is for

:09:17. > :09:22.sure,... This man thinks that got's long-standing loyalty was to Gerald

:09:23. > :09:26.Kaufman and he believes he is the best replacement. You are angry

:09:27. > :09:30.about Tony Blair, the situation in Kashmir and Palestine. That will not

:09:31. > :09:38.resonate with a lot of people here. When they do appeal, but the thing I

:09:39. > :09:41.am angry most about is the left behind. There will be people

:09:42. > :09:45.watching this you do not know Greater Manchester, you do not know

:09:46. > :09:49.Gorton, this is about George, not the people that live here. I know it

:09:50. > :09:58.better than Alex Ferguson than when he arrived. I do not think I will

:09:59. > :10:01.have as much as an impact as Alex Ferguson. This candidate did live in

:10:02. > :10:09.gardens are more than 15 years and her party came second in the last

:10:10. > :10:13.election. I moved one road out of Gorton, and suddenly I had all of

:10:14. > :10:17.the funding and an adequate house, so I understand how things need to

:10:18. > :10:23.change. People will say you are about green issues solely and people

:10:24. > :10:28.are more interested in their family getting by. We are labelled as being

:10:29. > :10:32.the big hippies, but what we understand is we need a strong

:10:33. > :10:38.economy important, because having that will help local people. You

:10:39. > :10:44.might hear about the Labour majority at the last general election which

:10:45. > :10:48.was significant, but going back to 2010 when the Liberal Democrats were

:10:49. > :10:54.doing well, the Labour majority was less. This year, there are other

:10:55. > :11:00.forces at play. Do not forget that Labour are doing terribly in the

:11:01. > :11:03.national polls. The Liberal Democrats believe they are in a

:11:04. > :11:08.strong position to sweep up some Labour support. It is a vote for

:11:09. > :11:12.change. Labour have had their way here for far too long. There have

:11:13. > :11:20.been a lot of votes of labour over the years and nothing has... If you

:11:21. > :11:27.are pushing, people do not want to go there. No one voted for a hard

:11:28. > :11:31.Brexit. That was described as project fear in the referendum last

:11:32. > :11:35.year. Leaving the single market was not on the agenda. Getting out of

:11:36. > :11:42.the EU as soon as possible is the main fang on this man's agenda. Ukip

:11:43. > :11:50.are the guardians of Brexit. What if God did not want to leave the EU.

:11:51. > :11:55.The Conservative candidate was not available today, that the party told

:11:56. > :12:00.me that Gorton is gettable. Expect more twists before the fall of May.

:12:01. > :12:02.There are 11 There are 11 candidates in all. Go

:12:03. > :12:13.to the polls on May the 4th. Still to come on

:12:14. > :12:17.North West Tonight. From a virtual pub team to this

:12:18. > :12:20.super stadium in a decade. We follow AFC Fylde's

:12:21. > :12:21.extraordinary journey. And the landmark, famous

:12:22. > :12:23.for its television mast, makes it on to the stage

:12:24. > :12:36.with Winter Hill, the play. Well drawn different characters,

:12:37. > :12:42.different age groups. You do not get that often. Eight women on stage.

:12:43. > :12:47.Now, if your sofa is your best mate, this one might be for you.

:12:48. > :12:49.18 months after a public health drive started in Stockport,

:12:50. > :12:52.those behind it say it's working and getting people on their

:12:53. > :13:00.It's reckoned illnesses stemming from unhealthy lifestyles

:13:01. > :13:04.are costing the NHS around ?11 billion a year.

:13:05. > :13:06.Now in the town, they're recruiting hundreds more volunteers

:13:07. > :13:13.Here's our Health Correspondent Gill Dummigan

:13:14. > :13:15.These days, Laura's fizzing with energy.

:13:16. > :13:18.18 months ago, she was a size 20 and struggling to get

:13:19. > :13:23.I wouldn't have worked any further than I needed to.

:13:24. > :13:25.I wouldn't have run anywhere and certainly will have

:13:26. > :13:30.Then Laura learned about a new fitness programme

:13:31. > :13:38.It has changed my outlook, my health and my life.

:13:39. > :13:44.Meanwhile, staff at Stepping Hill are among the 500 newbies now

:13:45. > :13:46.stepping up in the next wave of recruits.

:13:47. > :13:48.For some, it's a bit of a departure from the usual.

:13:49. > :13:50.Sitting down on my PlayStation playing video games,

:13:51. > :13:53.eating junk food and not doing much exercise or being active.

:13:54. > :13:57.I want to keep going and working up a bit of a sweat

:13:58. > :14:00.It makes me feel better about everything.

:14:01. > :14:03.The people behind the scheme say it is not about being a gym bunny,

:14:04. > :14:08.but about incorporating exercise into your daily life.

:14:09. > :14:11.The theory is that the more you do something like this, the less chance

:14:12. > :14:15.you are of ending up in somewhere like there.

:14:16. > :14:25.Lots of people are coming in with strokes and heart

:14:26. > :14:30.More than 20 of the town's firms have signed up

:14:31. > :14:33.to the programme, devised by a local not-for-profit group.

:14:34. > :14:37.They do run gyms but mainly they use phone apps and online coaching

:14:38. > :14:43.to support people who don't generally do fitness.

:14:44. > :14:46.If you're taking your first steps you need someone to take

:14:47. > :14:57.More importantly, it is about changing your behaviour. This is

:14:58. > :15:00.about long-term behaviour change. The hope is that hundreds more

:15:01. > :15:03.in this town will make Stuart Pollitt joins

:15:04. > :15:09.us now with the sport, and it was an emotional rather

:15:10. > :15:23.than the usual jovial Jurgen Klopp Not surprising when you think that

:15:24. > :15:25.he's a former Borussia Dortmund manager and there was the attack on

:15:26. > :15:31.the bus this week. He He was speaking at the press

:15:32. > :15:33.conference to preview Sunday's trip to West Brom,

:15:34. > :15:36.but his reaction to Tuesday's attack I was I don't know how often

:15:37. > :15:41.in the hotel, in the team hotel I know exactly the road, I know

:15:42. > :15:45.exactly the place where it is. I was scared for them,

:15:46. > :15:58.and then how it was for everybody. Security is tight in Brussels

:15:59. > :16:00.tonight, where Manchester United play Anderlecht in the first leg

:16:01. > :16:03.of their Europa League As well as their European

:16:04. > :16:06.commitments, United are also chasing a top-four finish

:16:07. > :16:09.in the Premier League, but midfielder Paul Pogba says

:16:10. > :16:11.there's no reason they can't excel For sure I think we can do

:16:12. > :16:17.both, we can do both. We have the quality,

:16:18. > :16:21.we have everything to do it, We are our own enemy,

:16:22. > :16:27.so I think we can do it, we have to just be focused and work

:16:28. > :16:32.hard, like we do. BBC Radio Manchester will keep

:16:33. > :16:35.you across events in Belgium tonight and they'll also bring

:16:36. > :16:37.you commentary from a crucial League One derby at Gigg Lane

:16:38. > :16:41.where Bury host Rochdale. A win for Dale will move

:16:42. > :16:43.them to within three points of the play-offs,

:16:44. > :16:46.while the the home side need a victory in their fight

:16:47. > :16:47.against relegation. Bury haven't won in a month

:16:48. > :16:50.and are just a point Other promotion and relegation

:16:51. > :16:56.issues continue over Easter, including Blackburn's fight

:16:57. > :16:58.against the drop from the Championship and Bolton's

:16:59. > :17:00.efforts to move the opposite way But if you're looking

:17:01. > :17:04.for the best story this season, Top of National League North, two

:17:05. > :17:08.levels below the Football League, in a season where they moved

:17:09. > :17:12.into a multi-million pound new home. Not bad for a club once described

:17:13. > :17:16.as a "virtual pub team". they could clinch promotion of the

:17:17. > :17:27.bank holiday weekend. They've scored 100 league

:17:28. > :17:29.goals this season. Now AFC Fylde are just two

:17:30. > :17:44.wins away from their If we get it right as a group on the

:17:45. > :17:50.pitch, we can achieve something very special. To score as many goals that

:17:51. > :17:54.we have is testament to that. The home town hero has hit

:17:55. > :18:03.46 goals this season. Are you eyeing up the half-century,

:18:04. > :18:08.a few weeks back I would have said yes. We have had some difficult

:18:09. > :18:13.games, if we don't get in the league now, we have thrown it away.

:18:14. > :18:17.A decade ago a man called Dai and a man called David met over

:18:18. > :18:19.a pint to talk about improving an amateur side called

:18:20. > :18:30.Ten years later, more than just the name has changed.

:18:31. > :18:43.to move here has been a seismic shift.

:18:44. > :18:44.Attendances have quadrupled at the new ?12-million stadium.

:18:45. > :18:47.David, who made his fortune in the animal feed business,

:18:48. > :18:57.What is it that has made you want to do this? I try to play Blackpool

:18:58. > :19:01.twice. I was ridiculed a bit like the current owners. They said I was

:19:02. > :19:05.not capable, I did not have the money, I did not know what I was

:19:06. > :19:11.doing. I thought, you know what, what can I do? You are not far off

:19:12. > :19:18.playing them now. I hope we surpassed them! It is very sad to

:19:19. > :19:22.see what has happened there. My focus is AFC Fylde and getting them

:19:23. > :19:24.as far as we can go. This is about making it a seven day operation.

:19:25. > :19:26.Part of that ambition is improving things off the field.

:19:27. > :19:30.The main stand has a restaurant, bar and conference room.

:19:31. > :19:36.I think standing here, you could not see the pitch, you would not know

:19:37. > :19:43.you RNA football club. What we are trying to do, we've done it, is to

:19:44. > :19:49.everything. 5-star, I have put a lot of my own money in, my wife is not

:19:50. > :19:54.particularly happy about that. We want to make it sales of vision. We

:19:55. > :19:56.famously had a 15 year plan to get us in the football league.

:19:57. > :20:01.And that ambition is getting closer all the time.

:20:02. > :20:04.Really is quite a setup that at AFC Fylde.

:20:05. > :20:07.Super League's derby weekend kicks off tonight with one of the most

:20:08. > :20:10.It's Widnes Vikings versus Warrington Wolves

:20:11. > :20:13.at the Select Security Stadium, a battle of the bottom two with both

:20:14. > :20:15.teams having won just one of their opening eight games.

:20:16. > :20:21.There's full match commentary from eight on BBC Radio Merseyside.

:20:22. > :20:28.And finally, me, etched this boxer has

:20:29. > :20:35.sorry to finish the sport on this disappointing note. The

:20:36. > :20:38.transformation at Fylde is unbelievable. When you stop in

:20:39. > :20:42.there, it does not look like a club. It is up there with anything that I

:20:43. > :20:46.have seen. A massive match for Blackburn Rovers. And two big games

:20:47. > :21:01.for Rovers. It's a place responsible

:21:02. > :21:03.for beaming TV into millions But now - Winter Hill -

:21:04. > :21:07.just north of Bolton - But now - Winter Hill -

:21:08. > :21:18.just north of Bolton - When a developer red paint on a

:21:19. > :21:23.promise to build a new school and social housing as part of plans to

:21:24. > :21:28.build a plush new hotel, a group of eight women bands together to do

:21:29. > :21:35.something about it. Changing its consideration. Possibly saving it.

:21:36. > :21:40.But I will come to that. Letters get some wine at first. A new play

:21:41. > :21:47.called Winter Hill is based around the Bolton landmine, and shows how

:21:48. > :21:50.far these which men will go. It has an all-female cast including some

:21:51. > :22:00.familiar faces. There are several themes to the play, but a main theme

:22:01. > :22:06.is how and can women protest. And now we are sitting in a lobby. Every

:22:07. > :22:12.single part is worth having for an actress. It is written by a woman,

:22:13. > :22:18.incredibly well drawn characters, such different age groups, and you

:22:19. > :22:26.do not get that often. What, eight women on a stage, written by a

:22:27. > :22:32.woman's Winter Hill is many feet high and is a popular place for

:22:33. > :22:38.walkers. It is here where the writer first got her inspiration for the

:22:39. > :22:48.play. We walked across and it was beautiful, beautiful cold day like

:22:49. > :22:52.today and I remember looking down onto Bolton and unto the most and

:22:53. > :22:57.thinking it was a fantastic setting. I did not immediately think I had

:22:58. > :23:02.the play, but it just stayed in my mind and eventually it was the

:23:03. > :23:04.setting of the play. Winter Hill is on at the octagon Theatre in Bolton

:23:05. > :23:14.from May 11. You do not have to go up to Winter

:23:15. > :23:23.Hill to see the play. That is quite a walk! Very near Winter Hill is a

:23:24. > :23:36.pack. As we head to the next couple of

:23:37. > :23:42.days, it is quite a mixed bag. I need to stress there is a lot of dry

:23:43. > :23:45.weather in the forecast, but it is really quite cool. The

:23:46. > :23:50.north-westerly wind has been quite brisk. This is how it pans out. I

:23:51. > :23:55.will ignore tomorrow, but that is Saturday, varies Easter Sunday and

:23:56. > :23:58.Monday. The temperatures are low, but do not think it will pour down

:23:59. > :24:03.all the way through Sunday. There will be a weather front, but there

:24:04. > :24:04.will be some dry weather, and day I say you

:24:05. > :24:10.will be some dry weather, and day I say you will enjoy it. A nice bit of

:24:11. > :24:14.pink in the sky in Fleetwood. It is all about whether friends coming

:24:15. > :24:18.towards us. We keep the north-westerly airflow, it turns

:24:19. > :24:22.westerly eventually. It allows the fronts to come from the Atlantic.

:24:23. > :24:27.There is high pressure to the south, so there will not be too much rain,

:24:28. > :24:31.but they are still too close for comfort. Many places are seeing some

:24:32. > :24:36.sunshine to end the day, but the story as we go through the night is

:24:37. > :24:41.we are picking up a few showers. The airflow, the showers are coming

:24:42. > :24:47.through the high ground. Many other places will dodge the rain.

:24:48. > :24:51.Overnight, because of the cloud cover, the temperatures are not too

:24:52. > :24:57.low at all. Seven, eight Celsius in the early hours. Tomorrow, this is

:24:58. > :25:02.how you start the day. Door, damp, drizzly. There will be dry spells

:25:03. > :25:07.from time to time. It may become drier for a short time, but as we go

:25:08. > :25:12.into the afternoon, more rain will come in from the Irish Sea. It is a

:25:13. > :25:17.cloudy day with outbreaks of rain from time to time. The breeze, about

:25:18. > :25:20.15 miles an hour. It will not feel quite as chilly, but the

:25:21. > :25:26.temperatures will be 11, 12 Celsius. It could end up being fairly cool

:25:27. > :25:34.for a while, so we could talk about a four Celsius Rowley. I think sadly

:25:35. > :25:43.will be the best day of the week. Double bash Saturday. Sandeman could

:25:44. > :25:46.be OK, but the next cloudy, patchy drizzly area, so a bit of something

:25:47. > :26:01.for everyone. You are welcome! The BBC Terrific Scientific is an

:26:02. > :26:07.ambitious campaign to get primary school students to get into science.

:26:08. > :26:17.Would the use of friction, wood to books keep up a blue Peter presenter

:26:18. > :26:23.on a zip wire? Here the presenter proves it can. You could do that on

:26:24. > :26:33.the way in. I would scream the whole way! Very brave. We will be back at

:26:34. > :27:03.10:25pm. Goodbye. the most that have ever voted for
