:00:37. > :00:39.stopped a Peugeot van in what Lancashire Police h`ve

:00:40. > :00:43.but as the driver emerged from the van, the officer was attacked

:00:44. > :00:47.suffering a knife injury to his torso and facial injuries.

:00:48. > :00:50.We understand the windscreen of the police car was also smashed

:00:51. > :00:54.There was a huge police response witnessed by many

:00:55. > :01:04.Walked into my bedroom round about ten o'clock this morning

:01:05. > :01:06.and looked out my window and I just saw an officer

:01:07. > :01:11.on the road there and wondered what was going on.

:01:12. > :01:13.Feel very sad that a police officer doing his duty got stabbed.

:01:14. > :01:16.You know, you don't expect that on a street like this.

:01:17. > :01:18.The air ambulance landed nearby and took the officer

:01:19. > :01:21.to the Royal Preston Hospital but I'm pleased to say that

:01:22. > :01:23.Lancashire Police to say he has been released from hospital

:01:24. > :01:29.The attacker made off in thd van but was stopped nearby in the car

:01:30. > :01:34.Police say tonight they're questioning a 39-year-old m`n

:01:35. > :01:42.from Blackpool on suspicion of attempted murder.

:01:43. > :01:45.A new report has revealed that more than 40,000 people

:01:46. > :01:48.in the North West have had `dult social care withdrawn since 2009.

:01:49. > :01:53.The Leonard Cheshire organisation, which carried out the study,

:01:54. > :01:57.says pressure on council budgets has left many people helpless

:03:06. > :03:08.6,900, that's a drop of arotnd 0% and it's a pattern being repeated

:03:09. > :03:22.The figures show a drop of 9% in Liverpool

:03:23. > :03:25.24% in Lancashire and 35% in Cumbria.

:03:26. > :03:28.In the North West as a whole, it was 18%.

:03:29. > :03:33.That's 42,000 fewer adults receiving social care.

:03:34. > :03:37.This is a great country, we are a prosperous

:03:38. > :03:41.It's about how we treat people in some of the most

:03:42. > :03:44.vulnerable situations in our country and I think this is about how we

:03:45. > :03:48.We are saying that we are prepared to let

:03:49. > :03:50.somebody soiled themselves automobile stuck in a hoist of the

:03:51. > :03:59.The Government says it's putting more money into social care

:04:00. > :04:03.from next year - potentiallx ?3.5 billion by 2020.

:04:13. > :04:14.If that is not there, the NHS will struggle.
