:00:18. > :00:22.Yesterday, the service was told it has to improve

:00:23. > :00:26.But the whistle-blowers say the true scale of the problem

:00:27. > :00:32.Abbie Jones has this exclusive report.

:00:33. > :00:36.It's got to the point where I think people's lives are in danger.

:00:37. > :00:44.the stress that everyone is under at the moment.

:00:45. > :00:47.You might go to a bad job which might affect you,

:00:48. > :00:50.but you aren't allowed to let that affect you because you've got

:00:51. > :00:54.They work on the front line and say they and their

:00:55. > :00:57.These ambulance staff have put their jobs

:00:58. > :01:00.We've disguised their faces and their voices

:01:01. > :01:05.The public needs to know how understaffed we are.

:01:06. > :01:08.Yesterday's Care Quality Commission report found

:01:09. > :01:10.one in six paramedic posts were unfilled when inspectors

:01:11. > :01:13.visited, meaning extra workload for staff.

:01:14. > :01:17.But, these whistle-blowers say, also putting lives in danger.

:01:18. > :01:22.You've got paramedics and you've got emergency medical technicians,

:01:23. > :01:24.EMTs, who aren't trained to do exactly

:01:25. > :01:31.If they're sent out, a paramedic is promised

:01:32. > :01:33.but nine times out of ten, there's not staff

:01:34. > :01:41.And EMTs are left with the families screaming at them to do things.

:01:42. > :01:46.Because you've got a patient who can't have treatment then.

:01:47. > :01:50.Because they can't give the treatments that's required.

:01:51. > :01:55.The CQC found that between December 2015 and made 2016, there

:01:56. > :01:58.were over 2500 incidents where front-line staff waited over

:01:59. > :02:07.Staff go home wondering what they could have done,

:02:08. > :02:11.Patients are in a life-threatening situation and they're

:02:12. > :02:17.The whole system needs looking at because it just isn't working.

:02:18. > :02:19.These whistle-blowers say its equipment as well

:02:20. > :02:22.as staffing that is woefully lacking.

:02:23. > :02:26.You do, like, a makeshift or you're stealing things from other

:02:27. > :02:30.Some doors don't even open from the outside,

:02:31. > :02:33.so if there's an accident, you wouldn't be able to get out.

:02:34. > :02:37.These men say they've complained to managers that change hasn't

:02:38. > :02:41.happened, that they and the public desperately need protection, that

:02:42. > :02:49.speaking out is their last resort to make that happen.

:02:50. > :02:52.The North West Ambulance Service has admitted in a statement tonight

:02:53. > :02:55.that there have been delays in back up ambulances arriving.

:02:56. > :02:57.It blames more call outs and pressure on the NHS.

:02:58. > :03:00.It says staff taking breaks depends on the number of incidents

:03:01. > :03:05.And that it's addressed issues with equipment and has worked hard

:03:06. > :03:11.to put right the issues the CQC and the whistle-blowers raised.

:03:12. > :03:15.The Manchester family devastated by a road crash in Saudi Arabia

:03:16. > :03:18.have been remembered during Friday prayers in Manchester.

:03:19. > :03:20.A baby boy and his grandparents were among those killed

:03:21. > :03:24.The child's mother, brother and sister

:03:25. > :03:28.were injured in the accident which claimed six lives in all.

:03:46. > :03:48.minibus crashed in Saudi Arabia.

:03:49. > :03:50.They'd been on a pilgrimage to Mecca.

:03:51. > :03:53.And we pray specifically for this family who lost their lives

:03:54. > :03:59.Among the dead, Adam Anis, just two months old.

:04:00. > :04:02.Adam is pictured here with his grandfather, Mohammed Kurshid,

:04:03. > :04:10.He was a very, very jolly, friendly and such a beautiful human being.

:04:11. > :04:15.Mr Kurshid's wife Nosheena, and her sister Rabia also died,

:04:16. > :04:18.along with two relatives from Glasgow.

:04:19. > :04:21.Baby Adam's mum, Atika, was also injured along

:04:22. > :04:24.with her other children aged two and three.

:04:25. > :04:26.So too were three other members of their group

:04:27. > :04:29.who had been aboard the minibus when it crashed on a motorway while

:04:30. > :04:36.18 members of the family flew out to Saudi last night to comfort those

:04:37. > :04:40.who survived and to attend the funerals of those who didn't.

:04:41. > :04:42.Those funerals were due to happen today in

:04:43. > :04:45.the holy city of Medina, the place where they had been

:04:46. > :04:50.It is a time of sadness, but I think the family

:04:51. > :04:55.should take some kind of solace in the fact that they will be

:04:56. > :05:04.The mother of a man, who was shot by police,

:05:05. > :05:07.has told the inquiry into his death she believes it was murder.

:05:08. > :05:09.Father of two Anthony Grainger was shot

:05:10. > :05:12.by a firearms officer from Greater Manchester Police in 2012.

:05:13. > :05:14.The force believed Mr Grainger was part of a group

:05:15. > :05:19.A man who used a blow torch to dry roof timbers

:05:20. > :05:24.at a hotel on the Isle of Man, causing ?17 million of damage,

:05:25. > :05:27.was told by a judge today that he'd come "within a whisker"

:05:28. > :05:30.64-year-old Roy Cross had been carrying out repairs

:05:31. > :05:34.at the Mount Murray in November 2013.

:05:35. > :05:37.He was found guilty of three health and safety breaches

:05:38. > :05:44.Steven Gerrard is returning to Liverpool as a coach.
