:00:44. > :00:48.he collapsed in the family bathroom banging his head as he fell.
:00:49. > :00:53.When it hadn't arrived in approximately 15 minutes,
:00:54. > :00:58.She immediately began to assess her uncle's condition
:00:59. > :01:02.while his family rang the Ambulance Service again.
:01:03. > :01:09.I just kept talking to him, reassuring him
:01:10. > :01:18.By now, Jo said it was coming up to 50 minutes since the first call.
:01:19. > :01:21.At the very most, it should've been there within 20.
:01:22. > :01:24.Finally you could see that the colour was changing.
:01:25. > :01:26.He was becoming more and more deteriorated, sorry,
:01:27. > :01:35.Five minutes later, the ambulance crew arrived.
:01:36. > :01:38.She said the family will never know whether he might have lived
:01:39. > :01:48.Whenever somebody has a trauma, for example, they talk
:01:49. > :01:51.about the golden hour and uncle Jack's golden hour was waiting
:01:52. > :01:55.I think it's an absolute disgrace and they should be held
:01:56. > :02:08.We don't think this should ever happen again to anybody.
:02:09. > :02:13.Tell us a bit more about the second case?
:02:14. > :02:18.This case concerns 65-year-old Richard Hansbury.
:02:19. > :02:21.He lived alone in a sheltered accommodation flat in Wigan.
:02:22. > :02:23.He'd collapsed in October and was bleeding heavily
:02:24. > :02:27.The alarm was raised and the call was flagged as red -
:02:28. > :02:30.Paramedics should have been there within eight minutes.
:02:31. > :02:35.His family claim it was more than hour before crews arrived.
:02:36. > :02:37.Mr Hansbury weighed 19 stone and ambulance staff needed another
:02:38. > :02:46.None were available meaning it was over two and a half hours
:02:47. > :02:49.after the first 999 call before he got to hospital
:02:50. > :02:57.And Steve, so what have the North West Ambulance said
:02:58. > :02:59.about the two deaths, and the problems they're facing?
:03:00. > :03:02.As with Mr Skelly we featured in Gill Dummigans report
:03:03. > :03:04.and in Mr Hansbury's case, the Ambulance Service apologise
:03:05. > :03:10.They say there was high demand and a number
:03:11. > :03:11.of resources were waiting with patients at hospitals.
:03:12. > :03:17.They say the operating environment over recent weeks has been amongst
:03:18. > :03:35.Demand for general 999 calls is up 7% year to date.
:03:36. > :03:40.Unions say their members are feeling the pressure,
:03:41. > :03:43.and that they should be freed up once they get to hospital.
:03:44. > :03:46.We think once the ambulance reaches the hospital, the patient is then
:03:47. > :03:54.The patient in the community are the ones at risk because they can't
:03:55. > :04:04.They say that long waits for urgent cases are unacceptable
:04:05. > :04:08.and are extremely frustrating for our staff.
:04:09. > :04:10.They say they're working with NHS colleagues
:04:11. > :04:15.A man has been arrested after a 63-year-old was killed
