:05:54. > :05:55.expecting individuals and their carers to run
:05:56. > :06:00.round the system telling their story again and again and again.
:06:01. > :06:03.Our view - it's much better, to put professionals in a voluntary
:06:04. > :06:06.sector in one room with access to the same information and having
:06:07. > :06:10.the same conversation with those individuals,
:06:11. > :06:12.and having one approach to their care planning.
:06:13. > :06:15.And a few of us have expressed our concerns about her...
:06:16. > :06:17.In Salford, both health and social care are now run
:06:18. > :06:20.by an integrated care organisation, which means experts from all sides
:06:21. > :06:27.When we've dealt with her health problems, there's lots
:06:28. > :06:30.of other issues going on as well, so I know I have
:06:31. > :06:32.very easy access into social services, district nursing,
:06:33. > :06:35.The Salford pilot - the first of three
:06:36. > :06:37.Greater Manchester - is getting a lot of
:06:38. > :06:42.Across the country now, there's a big push to get health
:06:43. > :06:45.and social care working more closely together.
:06:46. > :06:48.But what that can't do is solve the immediate problem individual
:06:49. > :06:52.councils are facing to pay for that social care.
:06:53. > :06:54.Across Greater Manchester, the councils estimate that,
:06:55. > :07:01.by 2020, their funding gap will be ?214 million.
:07:02. > :07:03.The Salford pilot is getting some national attention.
:07:04. > :07:09.We think the only way for it to be closed is some form of deal
:07:10. > :07:11.between national government and a local area like
:07:12. > :07:14.In two weeks' time, the Government unveils its budget.
:07:15. > :07:16.The hope here, as everywhere, is that social care

:07:25. > :07:27.Now, Sarah Beattie and her husband Nelson went through five years
:07:28. > :07:29.of fertility treatment, as they tried to start a family.
:07:30. > :07:31.Sarah had seven cycles of IVF without success.
:07:32. > :07:34.Then, at the end of last year, Nelson passed away.
:07:35. > :07:37.But their dream of starting a family isn't over,
:07:38. > :07:43.Sarah's need for a child became all-consuming.
:07:44. > :07:46.I ended up having to give up working with children,
:07:47. > :07:53.Emotionally, it was just too much to stay working with them,
:07:54. > :07:56.because it was like a kick in the face every day that
:07:57. > :08:00.that's is what you wanted and you might not ever get.
:08:01. > :08:09.I didn't want to let myself believe it.
:08:10. > :08:11.To get that positive test was just
:08:12. > :08:17.But the news came too late for her husband Nelson,
:08:18. > :08:19.who died not knowing their eighth round of treatment
:08:20. > :08:24.The first thing I had to do was take the pregnancy test
:08:25. > :08:35.Um, and I just said to him that, "Look, we've finally managed it."
:08:36. > :08:37.I knew exactly what he would've said if he alive.
:08:38. > :08:40.I knew exactly what he would've said if he was alive.
:08:41. > :08:45.He'd have just been going absolutely mental with excitement.
:08:46. > :08:48.Do you find that it's hard to get excited about the baby?
:08:49. > :08:51.Because it's such a special baby, I'm very scared, very nervous,
:08:52. > :08:57.Some days, I just want to shout and tell the world that I'm
:08:58. > :08:59.finally pregnant and then, I'm like, "No, something
:09:00. > :09:03.could still go wrong! It's still very early days!"
:09:04. > :09:06.How you feel, knowing that you've got a little piece
:09:07. > :09:12.That is just the most amazing feeling in the world,
:09:13. > :09:14.because it means that, even though he's gone -
:09:15. > :09:19.which I still, as you can imagine, find very, very difficult -
:09:20. > :09:25.and, to that there's going to be a little bit of him running around
:09:26. > :09:28.the place and a little bit of him to torment me is just amazing.
