:03:06. > :03:08.Both began at recycling plants owned by Barry Kilroe.

:03:09. > :03:11.Today Mr Kilroe, from Alderley Edge, was jailed for 15 months

:03:12. > :03:13.after admitting failing to store waste properly.

:03:14. > :03:23.Tonne upon tonne of abandoned rotting waste.

:03:24. > :03:30.It has been here so long, trees are sprouting out of it.

:03:31. > :03:32.The company, Asset and Land, only had a licence to

:03:33. > :03:38.There is seven times that much is here.

:03:39. > :03:41.Today the owner, Barry Kilroe, was jailed for 15 months

:03:42. > :03:43.after admitting ten charges relating to waste handling at

:03:44. > :03:53.In August 2013, a huge fire forced parts of the M60 to close.

:03:54. > :03:56.It had broken out at J25, a recycling plant in Bredbury.

:03:57. > :04:02.This time at Recovered Fuels in Salford.

:04:03. > :04:09.The smoke was so thick, Network Rail suspended its services to Liverpool.

:04:10. > :04:11.Both companies were owned by Barry Kilroe.

:04:12. > :04:15.This was a significant environmental damage

:04:16. > :04:18.as well as damage to infrastructure and the communities around the sites

:04:19. > :04:23.where Mr Kilroe chose to undertake a criminal activity.

:04:24. > :04:25.In the space of a year, Environment Agency officers visited

:04:26. > :04:27.all three sites several times and on each occasion

:04:28. > :04:30.Waste should be stored securely indoors.

:04:31. > :04:33.At every site the amount of waste exceeded the limit

:04:34. > :04:35.allowed and was stored for longer than permitted.

:04:36. > :04:40.People would say it is an inefficient system.

:04:41. > :04:44.The Court Service has to be fair to all and everybody is innocent

:04:45. > :04:48.So the onus is on the Environment Agency to provide the evidence

:04:49. > :04:51.and in this case it has taken a while because of Mr

:04:52. > :04:57.Kilroe's own defence, but we got there in the end.

:04:58. > :05:00.It cost ?3 million to clean up the Salford and Stockport sites.

:05:01. > :05:01.Insurance companies picked up the bill.

:05:02. > :05:11.The site here in Warrington will cost the owner much more.
