0:02:12 > 0:02:14He's very, very boisterous, and mischievous, and full of life.

0:02:14 > 0:02:17But two years ago it was a very different story after he was

0:02:17 > 0:02:20diagnosed with a brain tumour.

0:02:20 > 0:02:23It feels like the floor's gone from under you, really.

0:02:23 > 0:02:25You just feel like your whole world's collapsed.

0:02:25 > 0:02:28You know, you get that awful feeling in the pit of your stomach

0:02:28 > 0:02:31and it doesn't feel real.

0:02:31 > 0:02:33But his life was saved by Alder Hey Children's Hospital.

0:02:33 > 0:02:34That's our inspiration, really, to try and help give

0:02:36 > 0:02:38back in some small way.

0:02:38 > 0:02:42To thank them for what they've done for Daniel.

0:02:42 > 0:02:45So how do you thank the people who saved your child's life?

0:02:45 > 0:02:48Well, raising lots of money for them is always a great start.

0:02:48 > 0:02:51Over the last two years, the family has raised almost ?10,000

0:02:51 > 0:02:53by collecting old Christmas trees, like these, in return

0:02:53 > 0:02:54for a donation to Alder Hey.

0:02:54 > 0:02:57And this year they've collected over 300 trees.

0:02:57 > 0:03:04We are collecting trees to make lots of money for Alder Hey,

0:03:04 > 0:03:11because they did make me better.

0:03:11 > 0:03:14They hope to raise enough money to pay for a projector to distract

0:03:14 > 0:03:19young patients before a general anaesthetic.

0:03:19 > 0:03:21It's a great opportunity for people in the local area

0:03:21 > 0:03:24to support a local cause.

0:03:24 > 0:03:27And this is where they're brought - to Formby Beach, where they're used

0:03:27 > 0:03:30by the National Trust to prop up the sand dunes.

0:03:30 > 0:03:33The family say they'll never be able to thank hospital staff enough,

0:03:33 > 0:03:43but say thanks to Alder Hey the force is strong with this one!

0:04:30 > 0:04:32Temperatures falling to an overnight low of 6-8 Celsius.
