:00:52. > :00:56.to just under ?4200, among the lowest in the country.

:00:57. > :00:58.While other parts of the North West would gain.

:00:59. > :01:03.In Knowsley, for example, it would go up to just over ?5,000.

:01:04. > :01:06.There's a basic amount that every single school needs to be able

:01:07. > :01:10.to provide the range of provision that schools are

:01:11. > :01:15.And we've talked to them about what that amount is,

:01:16. > :01:20.and what they're proposing is way below that amount.

:01:21. > :01:23.The Department for Education says school funding

:01:24. > :01:27.is at its highest level on record, and that the consultation that ends

:01:28. > :01:31.next week is aimed at making sure they get it right.

:01:32. > :01:34.But in areas like this, the plans face strong opposition.

:01:35. > :01:36.I think for extracurricular activities especially,

:01:37. > :01:40.they may get the basic education, but it's the extracurricular stuff

:01:41. > :01:42.that adds real value for the children.

:01:43. > :01:46.The overall level of funding isn't high enough.

:01:47. > :01:49.There's less teachers, so that can't be a good thing, can it?

:01:50. > :01:52.So, you know, that's going to have an impact on class

:01:53. > :01:56.The Government hopes its plans will make school funding more

:01:57. > :01:59.consistent across the country, but many here believe more

:02:00. > :02:07.funding is needed overall, so no-one should lose out.

:02:08. > :02:09.Police in Oldham have released photos of two women

:02:10. > :02:12.they want to speak to in connection with a spate of so-called

:02:13. > :02:15.distraction thefts over the past five months.

:02:16. > :02:18.More than ten thefts have been reported where the thieves have
