:01:04. > :01:05.better consultation, access to other pots

:01:06. > :01:07.of money and other funds, so that the housing

:01:08. > :01:09.developments that we bring forward can become much

:01:12. > :01:13.The plan is to build new distinct communities,

:01:14. > :01:14.with 8,000 new homes - alongside, crucially,

:01:15. > :01:16.good transport, green spaces and local facilities.

:01:29. > :01:31.employment sites we're trying to develop.

:01:32. > :01:34.It's not just about the housing you see, it's about the town

:01:35. > :01:38.We're pretty proud of our county town and we want

:01:39. > :01:41.The residents we spoke to agreed - it can't just be

:01:42. > :01:44.You know, the hospitals, the schools, etc, the roads.

:01:45. > :01:47.So you need that as well as the houses?

:01:48. > :01:51.My family have just had a struggle getting a girl into a

:01:52. > :01:53.school down the road from us, but they're building

:01:54. > :01:56.So what do you need to see there - schools?

:01:57. > :01:58.It's got too many developments. Really?

:01:59. > :02:01.Put them somewhere else. Not in my backyard.

:02:02. > :02:03.But if everybody said that, we never have any houses!

:02:04. > :02:07.This award will help unlock more funding for Taunton,

:02:08. > :02:10.and attention will soon pass to the town centre -

:02:37. > :02:41.Empty properties in Bristol are being transformed by a group

:02:42. > :02:45.It's hoped the scheme could save the city council money,

:02:46. > :02:49.help people find homes and rehabilitate former prisoners.

:02:50. > :02:54.This two-bed terrace stood empty for a year,

:02:55. > :03:02.That's until a social enterprise group approached the council,

:03:03. > :03:09.offering them affordable building solutions.

:03:10. > :03:11.They gave as a house and said, here you go,

:03:12. > :03:15.We turned it around in about seven working days.

:03:16. > :03:20.We can do it for this price, you know, that is what we are

:03:21. > :03:24.We will not add on crazy extras and hide costs and things.

:03:25. > :03:27.It is a shame to have so many buildings in Bristol that are empty

:03:28. > :03:29.and when we have got an issue with homelessness...

:03:30. > :03:32.Like many others, this place was due to be sold off.

:03:33. > :03:34.But since the scheme, the council is realising the

:03:35. > :03:37.financial benefits of holding onto its homes.

:03:38. > :03:39.We're taken them off the for sale list.

:03:40. > :03:41.We have got the resources to repair them.

:03:42. > :03:44.It's saving us a lot of money in terms of having to put

:03:45. > :03:48.people into B or hotels or private, temporary accommodation.

:03:49. > :03:53.So although we are spending money, we are actually investing money to

:03:54. > :04:02.Each refurbished home could save the council ?400 a week.

:04:03. > :04:06.There are plans to renovate 50 empty properties.

:04:07. > :04:10.That adds up to around ?1 million a year.

:04:11. > :04:13.And, as all those employed are former prisoners,

:04:14. > :04:17.they benefit too from career opportunities,

:04:18. > :04:23.giving some the chance to stay on the right

:04:24. > :04:25.track, and others the chance to get the

:04:26. > :04:30.Onto sport, and it's not been a great start to 2017

:04:31. > :04:34.Bristol City lost in extra time to Reading in the Championship,

:04:37. > :04:39.Bristol Rovers lost 4-1 away to Charlton.

:04:40. > :04:42.Meanwhile, Swindon managed a goalless draw against Southend

:04:43. > :04:45.In League Two, both Yeovil and Cheltenham

:04:46. > :04:53.Now, for our weather forecast, here's Ian.

:04:54. > :04:57.We're in for a cold night - there will be widespread frost around.

:04:58. > :04:59.That's how things will start tomorrow morning.

:05:00. > :05:01.Generally a lot of sunshine around through the morning

:05:02. > :05:03.but then more in the way of cloud developing

:05:04. > :05:06.through the afternoon and certainly so by tomorrow evening.

:05:07. > :05:08.We have a Met Office warning out for later tonight

:05:09. > :05:10.into tomorrow morning - icy stretches on untreated

:05:11. > :05:13.roads and pavements, and it's unsurprising

:05:14. > :05:17.with temperatures dropping as low as perhaps -4, -5 in some spots

:05:18. > :05:21.So a frost - fairly picturesque, I imagine - by

:05:22. > :05:24.tomorrow morning, unless you're on the roads, that is.

:05:25. > :05:26.And there should be a good deal of sunshine around,

:05:27. > :05:28.barring the odd patch of fog or freezing fog.

:05:29. > :05:31.The general trend, then, into the afternoon is for more in

:05:32. > :05:33.the way of cloud around, still some brighter spells,

:05:34. > :05:36.mind you, but by the end of the afternoon, into the

:05:37. > :05:38.evening, thicker cloud sinking in from the north,

:05:39. > :05:41.maybe the odds spot of light rain in those districts as well.

:05:42. > :05:46.Temperatures tomorrow eventually up to about 5 to 7 Celsius.

:05:47. > :05:49.We will find another drop in temperatures at the tail end of

:05:50. > :05:51.Wednesday overnight into Thursday, and then a mild theme

:05:52. > :05:53.through the latter stage of the week.

:05:54. > :06:04.That's it from us, we're back with you tomorrow in Breakfast.

:06:05. > :06:11.Good evening. It's been a dry and bright day across most parts of the

:06:12. > :06:16.country today. Despite the chilly feel to the weather, there has been

:06:17. > :06:25.some sunshine. Clear skies as the sun set in east Essex. With those

:06:26. > :06:27.clear skies around, temperatures are plummeting, particularly across

:06:28. > :06:31.southern parts. Here we see the coldest temperatures. We could see

:06:32. > :06:35.icy stretches on untreated surfaces, pavements and roads first thing

:06:36. > :06:39.Tuesday morning. Not quite as cold towards the North West. Cloud moving

:06:40. > :06:44.in here through the overnight period. Lows to minus six or minus

:06:45. > :06:48.seven degrees in one or two spots. A cold start to Tuesday. If you have

:06:49. > :06:51.the commute back to work, it is looking milder towards the North

:06:52. > :06:52.West. We have rain for northern
