:00:00. > :00:10.Here, on BBC One, it's time for the news where you are.

:00:11. > :00:18.A warning that people in Bristol could be more at risk because not

:00:19. > :00:20.enough is being done to detect the virus.

:00:21. > :00:29.The trickshot which has gripped millions.

:00:30. > :00:32.It's brought a lot of fun and made a lot of people smile but,

:00:33. > :00:34.believe me, behind the scenes, there was no smiling.

:00:35. > :00:36.It was just a really frustrating experience,

:00:37. > :00:38.and we regretted ever starting the whole thing.

:00:39. > :00:40.And tomorrow will bring an increasingly windy day,

:00:41. > :00:42.still looking comparatively mild but not so on Thursday.

:00:43. > :00:55.There are warnings that people in Bristol are being put

:00:56. > :00:57.at increased risk of contracting HIV because recommended checks for it

:00:58. > :01:02.Rates of infection in the city are so high that some organisations

:01:03. > :01:06.say anyone being admitted to hospital or registering with a GP

:01:07. > :01:12.Our health correspondent, Matthew Hill, reports.

:01:13. > :01:15.There is now a danger that has become a threat to us all.

:01:16. > :01:18.It's 30 years since the nation was shocked by this

:01:19. > :01:23.And its impact was immediate - with people changing

:01:24. > :01:30.If you ignore Aids, it could be the death of you.

:01:31. > :01:34.But in cities like Bristol, the message is now being forgotten.

:01:35. > :01:38.Latest figures show that out of every 1,000 people,

:01:39. > :01:43.there are now more than two living with HIV.

:01:44. > :01:46.Two in every 1,000 is the limit where the Government's regulator

:01:47. > :01:51.Nice say we ought to be offering everyone being admitted

:01:52. > :01:54.to hospital an HIV test, as well as everyone registering

:01:55. > :02:00.But at the moment, this is simply not happening.

:02:01. > :02:04.And that could put people at risk of HIV infection.

:02:05. > :02:07.Becky was diagnosed with HIV four years ago.

:02:08. > :02:10.Her former partner Simon James is now serving a five-year prison

:02:11. > :02:15.sentence for deliberately infecting her and another woman.

:02:16. > :02:17.I got an e-mail from an ex-girlfriend of his about six

:02:18. > :02:20.months into the relationship, saying he was HIV positive but

:02:21. > :02:25.Had he been taking them, you would be fine now?

:02:26. > :02:34.Really sad, because it was so unnecessary.

:02:35. > :02:40.I know that people's lives change, but there

:02:41. > :02:44.And he chose not to say anything and took my choice away from me.

:02:45. > :02:49.Becky is living a very healthy life because she's on medication.

:02:50. > :02:52.That's why it's so crucial that patients with HIV are diagnosed.

:02:53. > :02:56.The City Council's about to run a pilot offering HIV tests

:02:57. > :03:00.to everyone joining six GP surgeries in Bristol, but they won't pay

:03:01. > :03:04.for hospital testing - they say that's down to the NHS.

:03:05. > :03:09.There genuinely needs to be a robust assessment of the costs,

:03:10. > :03:11.and that's what we're doing at the moment - we're

:03:12. > :03:14.negotiating with GPs around the cost and with our NHS

:03:15. > :03:21.As the arguments continue over who should pay for testing,

:03:22. > :03:24.it's feared more and more patients are being infected.

:03:25. > :03:28.Matthew Hill, BBC Points West, Bristol.

:03:29. > :03:31.So are people still aware of the dangers of HIV?

:03:32. > :03:34.In a recent study the Terence Higgins trust found that: One

:03:35. > :03:37.in seven young people did not receive any sex or relationship

:03:38. > :03:43.Three in five say they were not taught about HIV in school.

:03:44. > :03:48.Half of young people rated the Sex and Relationship Education

:03:49. > :03:51.they received in school as either poor or terrible.

:03:52. > :03:54.I asked Alex Sparrowhawk from the charity if he

:03:55. > :04:01.It is a shocking statistic, but unfortunately we're not surprised.

:04:02. > :04:03.We know ourselves at Terrence Higgins Trust that not

:04:04. > :04:05.enough young people are receiving adequate sex and

:04:06. > :04:10.What do you think is the answer, then?

:04:11. > :04:14.We believe that sex and relationships education should

:04:15. > :04:17.be statutory in all schools and should be taught well and that

:04:18. > :04:22.teachers should be trained well to provide it to young people

:04:23. > :04:26.so they can grow up and they can know and be informed how to look

:04:27. > :04:31.Because in the past, there were adverts, there

:04:32. > :04:38.I think definitely HIV and sexual health have

:04:39. > :04:41.fallen off the agenda - especially today, when people

:04:42. > :04:44.with HIV can live healthy lives, thanks to the medication that's

:04:45. > :04:49.But that doesn't mean that it's not a serious condition.

:04:50. > :04:52.It's something that people live with long term and it's something

:04:53. > :04:56.that young people deserve to know about and they should be able

:04:57. > :04:58.to know how they can protect themselves from it, as well.

:04:59. > :05:02.So, I guess if the current trend of education carries on, the next

:05:03. > :05:07.We are calling for them to end the silence with regards to sex

:05:08. > :05:10.and relationships education and for the government to take

:05:11. > :05:14.What are you guys finding on the street here, as well,

:05:15. > :05:18.as to the level of education amongst adults, as well?

:05:19. > :05:19.Education amongst adults is also poor.

:05:20. > :05:23.A survey we ran just before Christmas, we found that one in five

:05:24. > :05:27.people in the UK still believe that you can get HIV from kissing,

:05:28. > :05:29.and that's not true - that's a myth that we thought

:05:30. > :05:31.was debunked a long time ago and unfortunately

:05:32. > :05:37.Do you think people have become just lax about learning about Aids,

:05:38. > :05:41.when in the past it was seen as such a virulent outcome to have?

:05:42. > :05:46.We are 30 years away since the tombstone adverts

:05:47. > :05:51.and there's been no national campaign since then to inform people

:05:52. > :05:54.about HIV and to update them on their knowledge of HIV.

:05:55. > :05:57.It's a very different condition to what it was then,

:05:58. > :05:59.but it's still a very serious condition and it's still something

:06:00. > :06:03.that a lot of people in the UK have to deal with on a day-to-day basis.

:06:04. > :06:11.A retired accountant from Cheltenham who retrained as a masseur has been

:06:12. > :06:16.sent to prison for sexually assaulting some of his clients.

:06:17. > :06:18.Malcolm Baker was found guilty of sexually assaulting six women.

:06:19. > :06:21.Jailing him for 15 months, a judge said it was

:06:22. > :06:30.A Wiltshire MP has called for proceeds from the new Sugar Tax

:06:31. > :06:33.to be spent encouraging inactive children to take up sport.

:06:34. > :06:35.Justin Tomlinson has highlighted the approach used by this Swindon

:06:36. > :06:39.He called a special commons debate this afternoon,

:06:40. > :06:43.saying such clubs could help cut childhood obesity.

:06:44. > :06:46.I would also like to see all school facilities made available for free

:06:47. > :06:49.between the hours of four and six o'clock to any organisation

:06:50. > :06:55.that is doing it as a voluntary activity, so if some parents get

:06:56. > :06:57.together and say, we wish to put on netball club,

:06:58. > :07:01.football club, basketball club, I don't mind, as long

:07:02. > :07:03.as it's a constructive activity for young people.

:07:04. > :07:06.The new tax is being introduced after figures showed

:07:07. > :07:12.the problem was costing the NHS ?6 billion a year.

:07:13. > :07:17.It's all been set up and filmed at a sports bar in Bristol.

:07:18. > :07:20.The pair behind it spent all night getting it right.

:07:21. > :07:22.Now they've got millions of hits online.

:07:23. > :07:30.A golf putt combined with some pool and snooker tricks

:07:31. > :07:37.It takes you on a 500-feet journey that lasts two minutes,

:07:38. > :07:44.Although it didn't feel that way to the two men behind it.

:07:45. > :07:46.They spent all night setting up the trick,

:07:47. > :07:50.and didn't get it right until long after dawn.

:07:51. > :07:53.Honestly, I thought an hour tops, knock the ball down the stairs

:07:54. > :07:57.a couple of times, I'll get home to bed and be back in work tomorrow.

:07:58. > :07:59.But, no, it turned out to be a whole-night stint.

:08:00. > :08:04.We'd said eight o'clock was our cut-off point completely,

:08:05. > :08:09.Shane O'Hara was the creator of the trick.

:08:10. > :08:12.He's pretty handy with a pool cue, and recalls this latest trick

:08:13. > :08:19.We didn't really speak to each other, myself and Tom,

:08:20. > :08:23.for the last two hours, we were so frustrated.

:08:24. > :08:25.We didn't want to talk to each other.

:08:26. > :08:29.It's brought a lot of fun and made a lot of people smile but,

:08:30. > :08:31.believe me, behind the scenes, there was no smiling.

:08:32. > :08:33.It was just a really frustrating experience,

:08:34. > :08:34.and we regretted ever starting the whole thing.

:08:35. > :08:36.But the two minutes make it worthwhile.

:08:37. > :08:43.The trick's had a million hits around the world already,

:08:44. > :08:47.and Shane's promising there's more to come.

:08:48. > :08:50.I would like to do a 1,000-foot version of it, which is definitely

:08:51. > :08:53.And, yeah, you'll have to watch this space.

:08:54. > :08:57.Just have to take some hypnosis to become a little bit

:08:58. > :08:59.more patient and do it, I think.

:09:00. > :09:02.Doing a trick twice as long as this will be the ultimate test.

:09:03. > :09:05.But judging by the popularity of this trick, the world will,

:09:06. > :09:13.Scott Ellis, BBC Points West, Bristol.

:09:14. > :09:19.And you can watch that amazing footage again at bbc.co.uk/bristol.

:09:37. > :09:38.and in the National League, Forest Green drew 1-1

:09:39. > :09:49.That's it from us tonight. We're back with you in breakfast tomorrow

:09:50. > :09:52.from 6:30am. For now, I'll say good night and leave you with tonight's

:09:53. > :09:54.forecast. Hello and a very

:09:55. > :09:56.good evening to you. It's a fairly straightforward story

:09:57. > :09:59.as we head on into tomorrow in terms of it becoming

:10:00. > :10:01.an increasingly windy day. Those winds changing

:10:02. > :10:02.to a north-westerly quarter. It will be a fairly mild day

:10:03. > :10:06.for a good part of it, but ultimately colder air will start

:10:07. > :10:08.to spread in from the north. Now, through the rest of tonight,

:10:09. > :10:11.we'll see temperatures barely dropping away from where they sit

:10:12. > :10:14.now, so about five to seven Celsius. There will be thicker cloud

:10:15. > :10:17.the second half of the night, some patchy light rain

:10:18. > :10:18.sinking its way south-eastwards. Some of you still seeing that

:10:19. > :10:23.first light tomorrow. And then we're in for a day

:10:24. > :10:26.where the general complexion of it will be the winds increasing,

:10:27. > :10:28.some bright spells, Mostly dry, just one or two light

:10:29. > :10:32.passing showers but, as I mentioned, it will be turning colder

:10:33. > :10:34.towards the end of it. Now, prior to then,

:10:35. > :10:36.temperatures actually will have been above average,

:10:37. > :10:39.so we're likely to get up as high Not so as we head

:10:40. > :10:43.through into Thursday. Lot of uncertainty

:10:44. > :10:44.still for Thursday. If nothing else, it's looking

:10:45. > :10:47.we are at threat of seeing a wet day developing,

:10:48. > :10:50.but there is a low risk that some A Met Office warning for that

:10:51. > :10:56.applies at the moment. We will update you

:10:57. > :10:57.of course tomorrow. Here's a look now at

:10:58. > :11:06.your national forecast. of the week, and to start the

:11:07. > :11:07.weekend as well. For more on that snow situation, over to Jay Wynne

:11:08. > :11:18.now. Quite a lot going on over the next

:11:19. > :11:20.few
