:01:09. > :01:16.But people have said tonight they are still angry.
:01:17. > :01:22.Pretty upset but I suppose it was inevitable. We didn't think we were
:01:23. > :01:24.ever going to shift the opinion of this council, try as we might.
:01:25. > :01:26.So the decision does still need to go through planning.

:02:08. > :02:13.accusations flying around, can you put a couple of things to bed? Will
:02:14. > :02:18.this reduce congestion? It will around the city of Bath. If you have

:03:09. > :03:13.and have jobs and need to get there and back again and in Bath we're
:03:14. > :03:19.talking about another 11,000 jobs are these people need to get in and
:03:20. > :03:25.out and the city is full up. As soon as anything stops me that capacity
:03:26. > :03:30.in the city comes to a you. This is the start of a very long process and
:03:31. > :03:32.we still have to have a business case and planning applications so
:03:33. > :03:33.plenty more time in the future of people to have their say.
:03:34. > :03:35.A 75-year-old woman has suffered injuries including
:03:36. > :03:37.a fractured eye socket, after an attack in
:03:38. > :03:40.It happened in at lunchtime on Monday.
:03:41. > :03:41.Naomi Roberts is now recovering in hospital.

:03:51. > :03:54.But on Monday she was the victim of an attack that's left her

:04:35. > :04:52.She only saw herself for the first time this morning.
:04:53. > :04:54.She was really shocked and upset at how she looked
:04:55. > :04:57.and also worried about, she is going to look like that
:04:58. > :05:08.People will think I'm a monster when I am walking around!
:05:09. > :05:10.She was walking her dog in Eastville Park on Monday
:05:11. > :05:12.afternoon and it appears she was attacked from behind
:05:13. > :05:15.and her handbag pulled off her shoulder and she fell flat
:05:16. > :05:27.She doesn't remember what happened but she has told her daughter
:05:28. > :05:29.she thinks she remembers seeing a bike circling around before
:05:30. > :05:31.the attack and she saw somebody cycling away
:05:32. > :05:34.Police have called the assault on Naomi despicable
:05:35. > :05:37.and asked for the public's help to trace her attacker.
:05:38. > :05:39.They've appealed for anyone who was in Eastville Park on Monday
:05:40. > :05:49.lunchtime to get in touch with any information they might have.
:05:50. > :05:53.A man from Wiltshire whose son died when he was hit by a car is calling

:05:56. > :05:59.Major Richard Gilbey's son James was knocked over and left for dead
:06:00. > :06:01.by two men who were jailed for eight years.

:06:40. > :06:42.But in July 2015 his 25-year-old son James was mown
:06:43. > :06:52.The two men responsible had been racing through Leeds
:06:53. > :06:58.at speeds of up to 80mph - James didn't stand a chance.
:06:59. > :07:00.Malik and Mahmood were sentenced to eight years in prison -
:07:01. > :07:05.but are likely to be released after just four.
:07:06. > :07:07.Malik, the driver who hit James, had 35 previous convictions
:07:08. > :07:16.They gave James a death sentence and they gave me,
:07:17. > :07:21.my wife and my daughter a life sentence.
:07:22. > :07:25.The maximum sentence a judge can give in these cases is 14 years -
:07:26. > :07:29.but the average time offenders spend in prison is under years.
:07:30. > :07:33.That according to Major Gilbey and others is simply not enough.
:07:34. > :07:35.Under new plans being considered the government could extend
:07:36. > :07:37.the maximum sentence to life imprisonment - that's
:07:38. > :07:43.We know that nothing is enough for taking someone's
:07:44. > :07:50.life and sentences can't really reflect that.
:07:51. > :07:53.It's going to mean that judges who are deciding on these cases,
:07:54. > :07:56.trying to work out what sort of sentences should be imposed,
:07:57. > :07:59.I'm going to have more scope to add greater punishment to those who have
:08:00. > :08:12.been involved in the most serious cases.
:08:13. > :08:19.I'm very confident that the consultation will result in changing
:08:20. > :08:22.the law for the worst sort of death by dangerous driving to be tried on
:08:23. > :08:28.the same tariff of manslaughter which is effectively is. The
:08:29. > :08:32.Ministry of Justice told me today they are determined to make sure
:08:33. > :08:38.those who drive dangerously and kill face the full force of the law. The
:08:39. > :08:40.consultation ends in one week and should report back later this year.
:08:41. > :08:43.Two students from the University of Bristol have decided to make
:08:44. > :08:45.a formal complaint to the police about racial abuse they've
