:00:11. > :00:15.Our headlines tonight: The election expenses scandal.

:00:16. > :00:20.Five Tory MPs are questioned by police after the party battlebus

:00:21. > :00:28.The Swindon woman whose bus was hijacked in Brazil.

:00:29. > :00:43.The national scandal over election expenses has led to five

:00:44. > :00:47.Conservatives in the West being interviewed by the police.

:00:48. > :00:49.It's connected to a visit by the Tory battlebus

:00:50. > :00:54.Here's our political editor, Paul Barltrop.

:00:55. > :00:57.They're all Conservatives who were fighting key seats

:00:58. > :01:02.Marcus Fysh of Yeovil, James Heappey of Wells,

:01:03. > :01:06.Stroud MP Neil Carmichael, Luke Hall who won Thornbury and Yate

:01:07. > :01:11.and Alex Chalk of Cheltenham have all been questioned by the police.

:01:12. > :01:13.The Avon and Somerset and Gloucestershire forces had been

:01:14. > :01:15.asked to investigate what happened in their constituencies

:01:16. > :01:18.by the Electoral Commission, which has fined the Conservatives

:01:19. > :01:22.for breaking election spending rules.

:01:23. > :01:25.In terms of what we looked at was money that was

:01:26. > :01:27.spent on campaigning - was it spent on the big

:01:28. > :01:30.national campaigns that were about getting that party

:01:31. > :01:34.elected or were they about supporting an individual candidate

:01:35. > :01:39.in a specific constituency to get elected?

:01:40. > :01:43.And I think that's the best way of summarising that difference.

:01:44. > :01:46.Now, can you tell the difference between these two?

:01:47. > :01:49.Well, one carried David Cameron, so was regarded as national

:01:50. > :01:57.The other brought dozens of activists to campaign in key

:01:58. > :02:01.Because they helped a specific candidate, it should have been

:02:02. > :02:04.included in local campaign spending, but wasn't.

:02:05. > :02:06.Did they make much impact on the election?

:02:07. > :02:08.In Wells, activists stayed for just two and a half hours,

:02:09. > :02:15.There were people who didn't know who my successors...

:02:16. > :02:18.What my successor's name was, they couldn't pronounce his name

:02:19. > :02:20.properly, but they were knocking on doors, giving out local leaflets

:02:21. > :02:29.I think, clearly, what's happened is that we've got local campaigning,

:02:30. > :02:32.which has been masked as national campaigning, and it's

:02:33. > :02:38.The MPs didn't want to be interviewed today,

:02:39. > :02:40.but it's clear that, privately, there's anger that

:02:41. > :02:44.Conservative headquarters got them into this mess.

:02:45. > :02:46.The party's been fined but it doesn't end there.

:02:47. > :02:48.Their cases have now been referred by police

:02:49. > :02:58.A woman from Swindon has been robbed at gunpoint in Brazil.

:02:59. > :03:05.Sofia Janicka was on a bus which was hijacked by four armed men.

:03:06. > :03:09.They came onto the bus and they were saying, in Portuguese,

:03:10. > :03:13.that they were going to kill us and leave us naked in the field

:03:14. > :03:21.I don't know, there was some confusion.

:03:22. > :03:24.That's when he pulled the gun to my head, at the top of my head.

:03:25. > :03:30.And Sofia has said she is continuing with her trip around Brazil

:03:31. > :03:41.Fans of Swindon Town Football Club have made

:03:42. > :03:45.A group has announced it wants to buy the club's stadium.

:03:46. > :03:47.The news came at the Swindon Town supporters club AGM.

:03:48. > :03:51.Well, it was standing room only in this pub in town tonight

:03:52. > :03:55.as the Swindon Supporters Trust announced to the wider fan base

:03:56. > :03:58.that it had made a ?1.1 million offer to the council to buy

:03:59. > :04:04.the club's stadium, the County Ground.

:04:05. > :04:08.Eventually, the fans want to try and run as much

:04:09. > :04:13.Stephen is from the Supporters Trust.

:04:14. > :04:17.Last year, I think, at our AGM we had one person turned

:04:18. > :04:22.We went to the usual sort of routine.

:04:23. > :04:25.This night tonight, I think we probably had a couple of hundred

:04:26. > :04:32.crammed into a very small room underneath there.

:04:33. > :04:37.The headline act in all of it, really, is that we want to get

:04:38. > :04:39.the County Ground as a fan-owned stadium and we want to

:04:40. > :04:41.redevelop that area, we want to regenerate that area.

:04:42. > :04:45.It falls in between the club and the council at the moment.

:04:46. > :04:50.I think, in 20 years' time, it will look exactly

:04:51. > :04:56.We've got to try and make an impact on that area as fans.

:04:57. > :05:02.Well, there are a lot of fans down there tonight, I tell you,

:05:03. > :05:05.and community shares are a brilliant way of trying to do this

:05:06. > :05:08.and lots of clubs up and down the country have done it.

:05:09. > :05:11.James Matthew has talked the fans through how exactly that would work.

:05:12. > :05:13.Just tonight, we've had an offer come through on one

:05:14. > :05:15.of our social media channels for ?100,000 straightaway.

:05:16. > :05:20.We've got the capability, to be honest, to get high net worth

:05:21. > :05:23.individuals to pay for this on their own, but we want

:05:24. > :05:26.the fans to get behind it, we want the political will,

:05:27. > :05:27.we want the people to get behind this.

:05:28. > :05:31.It's not about individuals any more, it's about the community.

:05:32. > :05:34.And finally, how would this work in terms of the ownership

:05:35. > :05:36.of the club because you guys would obviously own the stadium

:05:37. > :05:38.but then the owner would own the football club?

:05:39. > :05:41.And that's a good thing because we care about this thing

:05:42. > :05:45.and it would be the first one in the country, but what we want to

:05:46. > :05:48.do is we want to take this stadium, we want to improve it

:05:49. > :05:50.and we want to make this football club great again.

:05:51. > :05:53.Ways we could do that - we can own the stadium,

:05:54. > :05:56.we could maybe reduce the rent, help on the playing side.

:05:57. > :06:00.We definitely want the club onside with this.

:06:01. > :06:03.It would be a fantastic thing for the area.

:06:04. > :06:06.Well, on the pitch, it may be a tale of disappointment at the moment

:06:07. > :06:09.for Swindon Town but, off of it, the Supporters Trust

:06:10. > :06:12.think they've put the first plan in place to move the club forward.

:06:13. > :06:17.Andy Howard, BBC Points West in Swindon.

:06:18. > :06:19.Over to Cheltenham now for the latest from the races

:06:20. > :06:25.with our sports editor, Alistair Durden.

:06:26. > :06:28.In particular, trainer Willie Mullins

:06:29. > :06:30.and jockey Ruby Walshe, who teamed up to win

:06:31. > :06:37.But tomorrow, it is the Gold Cup, the highlight of the festival,

:06:38. > :06:39.and most of the chatter is about Colin Tizzard,

:06:40. > :06:42.the farmer turned trainer, who has two of the favourites

:06:43. > :06:45.for the big race - Cue Card and Native River.

:06:46. > :06:54.We've been to the Somerset-Dorset border to find out.

:06:55. > :06:58.Work starts before sunrise at the stables in Milborne Port.

:06:59. > :07:06.Colin Tizzard leads a thriving yard that's earned ?1.5 million in prize

:07:07. > :07:12.There aren't that many Tizzards around.

:07:13. > :07:14.There is still an air of modesty about the former dairy

:07:15. > :07:19.farmer who's become one of Britain's's leading trainers.

:07:20. > :07:22.A short drive from his stables are the picturesque gallops

:07:23. > :07:32.He's come a long way since getting his licence back in 1998.

:07:33. > :07:36.It's not an easy profession, I tell you that.

:07:37. > :07:39.It is every morning, seven days a week, every day

:07:40. > :07:44.So it's not easy but I've got to try and make sure

:07:45. > :07:50.In the last ten years, it's got out of control.

:07:51. > :07:53.You've got to deal with a lot of staff, you've got to delegate,

:07:54. > :07:55.you are talking to owners all the time.

:07:56. > :07:58.If a good horse comes up and someone half makes a remark

:07:59. > :08:03.they wouldn't mind another one, you've got to do it.

:08:04. > :08:10.If you don't take on straightaway, someone else will buy that horse.

:08:11. > :08:15.Colin admits he still getting used to the spotlight his successors

:08:16. > :08:22.created that his story is one racing has fallen in love with. It has been

:08:23. > :08:28.a tremendous rise from relative obscurity and the fact that this

:08:29. > :08:32.story is here in the grassroots of the British countryside. It is

:08:33. > :08:36.fantastic for the sport. Those hours of milking cows are now a thing of

:08:37. > :08:47.the past and he is right at the top of the tree. 12 months ago, this

:08:48. > :08:53.fall. But the hugely popular 11 New Rd has picked himself up to have

:08:54. > :08:58.another go this year. And then there is native river, who has taken

:08:59. > :09:03.everyone by surprise. We thought if we had a horse good enough to run in

:09:04. > :09:09.the Gold Cup, it would be an achievement, and we suddenly find it

:09:10. > :09:13.is favourite, it is real. As for Colin Tizzard, he is refusing to

:09:14. > :09:16.pick his favourite. Whatever the result, he will be back in the yard

:09:17. > :09:19.on first light on Saturday to start all over again.

:09:20. > :09:22.It's been confirmed that Ed Sheeran will headline the Pyramid Stage

:09:23. > :09:32.He'll close the event on the Sunday in what'll be his only festival

:09:33. > :09:38.Radiohead and Foo Fighters have already been confirmed but the full

:09:39. > :09:43.line-up will be announced at a later date.

:09:44. > :09:45.And that's the news from across the West tonight.

:09:46. > :09:48.We're back tomorrow on Gold Cup Day, but for now I will say goodnight

:09:49. > :10:07.The forecast for tomorrow will be a day that will turn breezy. It will

:10:08. > :10:12.equally after a chilly and bright star turn cloudy as well. We should

:10:13. > :10:22.hang on dry conditions until fairly late. For the rest of the night, we

:10:23. > :10:25.have a weak cold front moving across us from west to east, bringing a

:10:26. > :10:30.sprinkling of like rain. Once that clears through, the skies were clear

:10:31. > :10:34.and it will turn into a chilly night, temperatures getting as low

:10:35. > :10:38.as two or three Celsius. The hint of frost about by first light. It

:10:39. > :10:44.should be a fairly funny start tomorrow. You will notice the winds

:10:45. > :10:49.breeds. A windy story compared to recent days. Through the afternoon,

:10:50. > :10:53.the clouds thicken up. It will start to introduce patchy rain from the

:10:54. > :10:58.West. It will take into the tail end of the afternoon and evening before

:10:59. > :11:03.that pushes out towards areas in the east. But many areas will be dry.

:11:04. > :11:03.Temperatures roughly 10 there will be rain around, most

:11:04. > :11:12.occurring overnight. Good evening, quite a range of

:11:13. > :11:16.whether an offer earlier today in the north and north-west of the UK

:11:17. > :11:19.quite a lot of showers around, lively ones, little bit of sunshine

:11:20. > :11:21.in between. The best of the sunshine to be found at the other end of the

:11:22. > :11:22.country towards
