:01:50. > :01:56.A project at Southmead Hospital is offering a new treatment
:01:57. > :02:00.And the best thing about it is that it's not particularly invasive
:02:01. > :02:04.It's a bit like pulling apart a pair of curtains.
:02:05. > :02:07.Permanent implants are put in place to hold the excess tissue away,
:02:08. > :02:10.That's the tube that carries urine from the bladder.
:02:11. > :02:18.There's no need for a general anaesthetic or an overnight stay.
:02:19. > :02:24.It will reduce those symptoms of difficulty being, slow flow,
:02:25. > :02:30.It will reduce those symptoms of difficulty peeing, slow flow,
:02:31. > :02:33.having to pee frequently to empty the bladder
:02:34. > :02:37.Until recently this operation has only been available privately,
:02:38. > :02:40.but recently twelve patients have received it at Southmead Hospital
:02:41. > :02:42.as part of an evaluation trial and it very much depends
:02:43. > :02:48.on where you live as to whether you may get it.
:02:49. > :02:50.In Gloucestershire and South Gloucestershire, a 10-patient
:02:51. > :02:56.In Somerset there are early discussions to start a trial at
:02:57. > :03:02.There are no plans for the procedure at Bath's Royal United
:03:03. > :03:05.a 10-patient trial was completed at Salisbury Hospital on 24th March
:03:06. > :03:11.and it should be routinely available from April.
