:00:14. > :00:18.for hours this afternoon, after a gas tanker caught

:00:19. > :00:22.The road had to be closed in both directions,

:00:23. > :00:25.meaning long delays for those trying to get away for the Easter Weekend.

:00:26. > :00:28.The last thing anyone wanted on one of the busiest days

:00:29. > :00:37.Miles of tailbacks and motorists going nowhere fast.

:00:38. > :00:40.A tanker carrying compressed gas caught fire at around 12:30pm,

:00:41. > :00:44.completely shutting the M4 between Chippenham and Bath.

:00:45. > :00:48.Dozens of people got out of their car because it was

:00:49. > :00:50.a particular spectacular sight, as you can imagine.

:00:51. > :00:53.This was before any of the emergency vehicles got there, any

:00:54. > :01:01.People were having a good look until the police came past

:01:02. > :01:05.on the hard shoulder screaming out of the window, get back in your

:01:06. > :01:09.Another driver told the BBC she had been stuck in traffic for two hours,

:01:10. > :01:11.just a quarter of a mile away from the tanker.

:01:12. > :01:18.I took a wander down and realised it was a fuel tanker.

:01:19. > :01:21.Naturally, I just straightaway walked back to my car.

:01:22. > :01:22.Literally stationary for two and a half hours.

:01:23. > :01:24.Not one single inch of movement at all.

:01:25. > :01:29.One lane is still shut this evening but traffic is now moving.

:01:30. > :01:33.A family being sought by Australian detectives investigating the murder

:01:34. > :01:36.of a Bristol toddler, say they're making contact with local police.

:01:37. > :01:40.It comes after officers in New South Wales charged

:01:41. > :01:42.a man with the murder of Cheryl Grimmer in 1970.

:01:43. > :01:45.They wanted to speak again to the Goodyear family,

:01:46. > :01:48.who now live in Nottinghamshire, but at the time lived

:01:49. > :01:54.The RSPCA is warning people not to use glue traps to catch pests

:01:55. > :02:02.The birds are being cared for at West Hatch Wildlife Centre.

:02:03. > :02:05.This one was unable to move its wings when it was found,

:02:06. > :02:08.and was exhausted from trying to get free.

:02:09. > :02:15.His primary wing feathers were stuck into his own flanks here.

:02:16. > :02:18.He'd got quite a few feathers missing on his legs here as well.

:02:19. > :02:20.Without us intervening and actually washing the glue off,

:02:21. > :02:23.there's no way he would have ever flown again.

:02:24. > :02:25.He would have basically just slowly starved to death

:02:26. > :02:33.Young homeless people in Bristol can now renovate derelict council houses

:02:34. > :02:36.which they can then rent for next to nothing.

:02:37. > :02:39.The city council is doing up its old properties,

:02:40. > :02:41.while giving young apprentices the skills they need to find work.

:02:42. > :02:50.18-year-old Sophie has been through tough times.

:02:51. > :02:53.She found herself homeless after troubles with her family.

:02:54. > :02:55.Now a pilot scheme has given her somewhere to live

:02:56. > :03:00.Yeah, painting and decorating, that's what I want to do.

:03:01. > :03:08.The council provides once-derelict homes for free.

:03:09. > :03:10.A charity supplies the funding to do them up.

:03:11. > :03:13.A local college does the training, and young people end up

:03:14. > :03:17.with new skills and a place to live for a peppercorn rent.

:03:18. > :03:21.What happened here is that the ceiling came down

:03:22. > :03:24.completely and there was damp everywhere on the walls.

:03:25. > :03:27.For those behind the project, it's one way of tackling the rising

:03:28. > :03:32.numbers of young people caught up in the housing crisis.

:03:33. > :03:35.So, Bristol predicts there is going to be over 700 young

:03:36. > :03:38.people homeless this year, but that really hides the people

:03:39. > :03:41.who are sofa-surfing or living in other difficult circumstances

:03:42. > :03:44.where they don't come to the forefront.

:03:45. > :03:47.So the predictions are that it's getting worse

:03:48. > :03:49.and actually it's getting worse cos people can't afford anywhere to live

:03:50. > :03:53.We need newer, cheaper housing options.

:03:54. > :03:56.So far, this approach is small scale.

:03:57. > :03:58.They are currently renovating two homes in Bristol.

:03:59. > :04:02.But, having proved it can work, they are now looking for many more.

:04:03. > :04:05.I think if there are properties that need to be brought back into use,

:04:06. > :04:09.then we are more than happy to get behind them and provide funding

:04:10. > :04:11.for projects like this that help to get young homeless people

:04:12. > :04:14.back into employment, but also bring old empty housing

:04:15. > :04:20.It's an idea, then, that could spread and

:04:21. > :04:27.generation rent needs every help to carry on living in Bristol.

:04:28. > :04:31.After 90 years performing at shows and events,

:04:32. > :04:34.the Royal Signals White Helmets team is being disbanded.

:04:35. > :04:37.They're famous for their death-defying stunts,

:04:38. > :04:39.feats of balance, and acrobatics on motorbikes.

:04:40. > :04:41.The army is keen to move with the times,

:04:42. > :04:44.and so the display team, based at Blandford Forum in Dorset,

:04:45. > :04:48.Chippenham Town have been crowned league champions,

:04:49. > :04:54.They won the Southern Premier title because second place

:04:55. > :04:57.Leamington didn't beat Biggleswade this afternoon.

:04:58. > :05:01.The Bluebirds will now play at their highest ever level.
