:02:40. > :02:41.while giving young apprentices the skills they need to find work.
:02:42. > :02:50.18-year-old Sophie has been through tough times.
:02:51. > :02:53.She found herself homeless after troubles with her family.
:02:54. > :02:55.Now a pilot scheme has given her somewhere to live
:02:56. > :03:00.Yeah, painting and decorating, that's what I want to do.
:03:01. > :03:08.The council provides once-derelict homes for free.
:03:09. > :03:10.A charity supplies the funding to do them up.
:03:11. > :03:13.A local college does the training, and young people end up
:03:14. > :03:17.with new skills and a place to live for a peppercorn rent.
:03:18. > :03:21.What happened here is that the ceiling came down
:03:22. > :03:24.completely and there was damp everywhere on the walls.
:03:25. > :03:27.For those behind the project, it's one way of tackling the rising
:03:28. > :03:32.numbers of young people caught up in the housing crisis.
:03:33. > :03:35.So, Bristol predicts there is going to be over 700 young
:03:36. > :03:38.people homeless this year, but that really hides the people
:03:39. > :03:41.who are sofa-surfing or living in other difficult circumstances
:03:42. > :03:44.where they don't come to the forefront.
:03:45. > :03:47.So the predictions are that it's getting worse
:03:48. > :03:49.and actually it's getting worse cos people can't afford anywhere to live
:03:50. > :03:53.We need newer, cheaper housing options.
:03:54. > :03:56.So far, this approach is small scale.
:03:57. > :03:58.They are currently renovating two homes in Bristol.
:03:59. > :04:02.But, having proved it can work, they are now looking for many more.
:04:03. > :04:05.I think if there are properties that need to be brought back into use,
:04:06. > :04:09.then we are more than happy to get behind them and provide funding
:04:10. > :04:11.for projects like this that help to get young homeless people
:04:12. > :04:14.back into employment, but also bring old empty housing
:04:15. > :04:20.It's an idea, then, that could spread and
:04:21. > :04:27.generation rent needs every help to carry on living in Bristol.
:04:28. > :04:31.After 90 years performing at shows and events,
:04:32. > :04:34.the Royal Signals White Helmets team is being disbanded.
:04:35. > :04:37.They're famous for their death-defying stunts,
:04:38. > :04:39.feats of balance, and acrobatics on motorbikes.
:04:40. > :04:41.The army is keen to move with the times,
:04:42. > :04:44.and so the display team, based at Blandford Forum in Dorset,
