:01:31. > :01:33.on the street was, as long as Corbyn is in his current position,

:01:34. > :01:44.It's all well and good to be an idealist, to be a romantic,

:01:45. > :01:47.but unless you're actually in power, you can do absolutely nothing.

:01:48. > :01:51.In Bristol, Jeremy Corbyn joined youngsters at a children's centre.

:01:52. > :02:03.Today, Labour wanted the focus to be on problems in education.

:02:04. > :02:08.So it wasn't easy getting him to talk about his departed councillors.

:02:09. > :02:12.This is a party absolutely determined to take the fight

:02:13. > :02:15.to the Tories about inequality and injustice in this country.

:02:16. > :02:19.That's the message, and that's the unity of our party now.

:02:21. > :02:24.My message to them is - come back, get on the streets, join in.

:03:07. > :03:13.Some teachers have claimed they're expecting pupils to turn up

:03:37. > :03:39.to the statistics, listen to the surveys we've been doing,

:03:40. > :03:41.listen to the charities who are filling those gaps

:03:42. > :03:45.in society which they have allowed to arise.

:03:46. > :03:47.The Government claims it has a number of initiatives underway

:03:48. > :03:53.History will be be made this weekend as Bristol's former

:03:54. > :03:56.High Sheriff Peaches Golding officially takes up the role

:03:57. > :04:01.Peaches Golding will become the first black woman in the country

:04:02. > :04:03.to hold the ceremonial title, which involves representing

:04:04. > :04:13.Talking me through her family history - Peaches Golding

:04:14. > :04:21.I am delighted that the Queen has appointed me to the role.

:04:22. > :04:23.And for me, that's the important thing.

:04:24. > :04:28.Although Bristol didn't get a Lord Lieutenant until 1996,

:04:29. > :04:32.the post was first created elsewhere, way back in the 1540s.

:04:33. > :04:35.And has never been held by a black woman before

:04:36. > :04:41.The role is to effectively be the Queen's local representative.

:04:42. > :04:47.It means being involved in civic matters and social matters,

:04:48. > :04:54.Peaches was Bristol's High Sheriff in 2010.

:04:55. > :04:57.She is the daughter of an American civil rights campaigner who made

:04:58. > :05:08.And at the time, the people on the bus believed that he had

:05:09. > :05:11.to sit at the back of the bus because he was black.

:05:12. > :05:13.And actually it turned very, very ugly.

:05:14. > :05:17.And of course he was correct, and won that suit.

:05:18. > :05:19.Peaches says watching her father question injustice from a young age

:05:20. > :05:26.Lord Lieutenants have to retire on their 75th birthday.

:05:27. > :05:29.It means Peaches will have 12 years in the role,

:05:30. > :05:39.He's 75, is from Bristol and has now become the oldest person

:05:40. > :05:43.in the UK to complete the world's toughest marathon.

:05:44. > :05:47.David Excell ran the 250-kilometre Marathon des Sables,

:05:48. > :05:50.raising more than ?20,000 for the Bristol Area Stroke

:05:51. > :05:55.The six-day challenge involves running in 50 degree heat

:05:56. > :06:06.through sand dunes in the foothills of Morocco's Atlas Mountains.
