:00:45. > :00:47.or heard from in 12 days. Friends of Anna Lewis say
:00:48. > :00:49.the 27-year-old would often go camping alone
:00:50. > :00:52.but never for this long. She was working at Southmead
:00:53. > :00:56.Hospital the day she went missing. The family and friends
:00:57. > :01:01.of Anna Lewis say she loved the outdoors and,
:01:02. > :01:04.on occasions, solitude. But she'd never go away this long
:01:05. > :01:08.without getting in touch. "This is genuinely very out
:01:09. > :01:15.of charcter and her family She likes her own company,
:01:16. > :01:21.she's been on trips away to Scotland Detectives are searching woodland
:01:22. > :01:26.in and around Bristol That will be extended to her known
:01:27. > :01:31.favourite areas in Scotland, Officers have had around
:01:32. > :01:35.ten possible sightings of Anna from the public so far,
:01:36. > :01:39.which have to be followed up. Today, as worries mount,
:01:40. > :01:43.a direct appeal. Anna, I would appeal
:01:44. > :01:46.to you if you are watching this, There's your family and friends,
:01:47. > :01:52.they are all worried about you and so, if you are watching
:01:53. > :01:56.this, please pick up the phone These CCTV pictures show Anna
:01:57. > :02:02.leaving Southmead Hospital just after 12.15pm on Thursday
:02:03. > :02:06.April 13th. She left the hospital
:02:07. > :02:10.grounds nearer 1pm. Anna's a student nurse based
:02:11. > :02:13.at the University of the West of England,
:02:14. > :02:15.who said today they're... "Becoming increasingly worried
:02:16. > :02:19.for Anna's safety and would request "anyone with information
:02:20. > :02:22.call the police." "Also been in touch with Anna's
:02:23. > :02:27.family and friends "during this
:02:28. > :02:29.extremely difficult time." Police say Anna Lewis
:02:30. > :02:33.hasn't got her mobile phone raising more concerns
:02:34. > :02:38.about her safety. Scott Ellis, BBC
:02:39. > :02:42.Points West, Bristol. Last night we broke the news
:02:43. > :02:46.about a second Liberal Democrat A tough start for a party that lost
:02:47. > :02:53.nine seats last time round. Robin Markwell's been finding
:02:54. > :02:56.out how the Lib Dems A week used to be a long
:02:57. > :03:01.time in politics. But at the current feverish pace,
:03:02. > :03:05.it feels much, much longer. Last Tuesday the Lib Dem leader
:03:06. > :03:09.was in the West, We did prepare, we have
:03:10. > :03:14.prepared for the election, we have candidates selected pretty
:03:15. > :03:17.much up and down the country. But two of those candidates
:03:18. > :03:20.in key West Country seats Yesterday, in Yeovil,
:03:21. > :03:26.Daisy Benson ended her campaign, saying she needed time to focus
:03:27. > :03:29.on buying a house. Today, in Bath, it was
:03:30. > :03:32.Jay Risbridger's turn. He wouldn't give an interview
:03:33. > :03:36.but in a statement he said the timing of the snap election
:03:37. > :03:39.was unexpected and that he needed to focus on moving his
:03:40. > :03:42.stationery business. It came as a surprise
:03:43. > :03:46.as he was tweeting about being on the campaign trail
:03:47. > :03:48.only last week. His Conservative rival saw it
:03:49. > :03:51.as an unexpected gift. I do believe it's
:03:52. > :03:54.a shambles locally. We've had three candidates
:03:55. > :03:57.in two years now. I'm not sure whether they're
:03:58. > :04:00.going to be parachuting someone in or whether or not there's been
:04:01. > :04:04.some sort of internal dispute at the heart of the Liberal
:04:05. > :04:07.Democrats in Bath. If they can't provide the strong
:04:08. > :04:10.and stable leadership within their own party at the local
:04:11. > :04:13.level, how can my constituents trust them to get on
:04:14. > :04:16.and deliver the job nationally? Here's some more envelopes
:04:17. > :04:19.that need stuffing. Candidate or no, the mood in
:04:20. > :04:23.Lib Dem HQ today was still upbeat. The campaign codename
:04:24. > :04:26.is all about rising from the ashes and they believe they'll take this
:04:27. > :04:30.latest setback in their stride. I'm personally gutted because Jay
:04:31. > :04:33.is a fantastic campaigner But the party will move forward
:04:34. > :04:39.because it's more about more The Lib Dems hope to
:04:40. > :04:46.have a replacement candidate to sell on the doorstep
:04:47. > :04:47.by next Monday. They know in elections
:04:48. > :04:50.as fast-moving as this, no party can afford to lose any time
:04:51. > :04:54.getting their message across. Robin Markwell, BBC
:04:55. > :04:58.Points West, Bath. The UK should introduce
:04:59. > :05:01.a minister for refugees, according to a parliamentary group
:05:02. > :05:05.headed by a Bristol MP. The eight-month inquiry says
:05:06. > :05:09.refugees are welcomed well in the UK Forward was a journalist in
:05:10. > :05:20.Zimbabwe, then a refugee in the UK. Now he helps others
:05:21. > :05:24.on a similar path. Behind that word refugee,
:05:25. > :05:27.we are talking about people, we are talking about people
:05:28. > :05:30.with skills and a career Providing they get the right
:05:31. > :05:36.support to learn English, all recommendations
:05:37. > :05:41.in today's report. To highlight some of the things
:05:42. > :05:45.that we do within the sector important is that that work
:05:46. > :05:50.is being put together any single report that gives evidence of some
:05:51. > :05:54.of the challenges that We are employing about 38
:05:55. > :06:03.people, on top of family. when his family was
:06:04. > :06:08.expelled from Uganda. Their warm welcome here
:06:09. > :06:11.stayed with them all. The way we felt, that we could
:06:12. > :06:15.give something back we have started our
:06:16. > :06:19.own business. My dad never liked the benefit
:06:20. > :06:22.system, in the sense of, So Bristol has a history
:06:23. > :06:26.of welcoming refugees, from Ugandans to the 70
:06:27. > :06:30.or so Syrians who have been helped by volunteers
:06:31. > :06:33.on the City Council more recently. But is this goodwill out of sync
:06:34. > :06:38.with much of public opinion? If you ask the average Brit,
:06:39. > :06:43.do you think it's fair to help people who have fled persecution
:06:44. > :06:47.and war and who need our help and want to contribute,
:06:48. > :06:49.because that's what refugees come here wanting to do, and very
:06:50. > :06:53.often they want to go home as soon as the war is over in their country,
:06:54. > :06:56.I think most Brits would agree that's the right thing to do
:06:57. > :07:00.and we need to help make the system works so that they can get
:07:01. > :07:02.on with with integrating That system is what the report
:07:03. > :07:07.is aimed at fixing. It may have to wait
:07:08. > :07:10.until after the general election. Well, earlier I spoke to Andrew
:07:11. > :07:16.Wallis from the charity Unseen, which helps victims of human
:07:17. > :07:19.trafficking, some of whom then find themselves
:07:20. > :07:22.in the asylum seeking system. I asked him what he
:07:23. > :07:25.made of the idea. A Refugee Minister could resolve it
:07:26. > :07:33.by working with the Department for Work and Pensions,
:07:34. > :07:52.with the Department for Education, Do you think it will be welcomed by
:07:53. > :07:58.everyone? The committee is cross-party so I hope all parties
:07:59. > :08:02.will sign up to this. That is the point, it is going to have two
:08:03. > :08:08.happen post-election. What is the situation now? The situation is that
:08:09. > :08:13.you have venerable people fleeing for their lives, they have come to
:08:14. > :08:17.this country, they go to the system while their refugee status is worked
:08:18. > :08:21.out. While they are in the asylum system, they can't work. They are
:08:22. > :08:27.putting in substandard housing. And when they get the end of that
:08:28. > :08:33.process, what happens is, they can't get access to a National Insurance
:08:34. > :08:37.number, the biometric register. We need to make sure that these people
:08:38. > :08:42.that want to contribute to the society and give back, and often are
:08:43. > :08:46.net givers to this country, can get on with their lives. Your charity
:08:47. > :08:49.works with people who have been trafficked but then some of them
:08:50. > :08:55.find themselves in the asylum system. Are those the stories you
:08:56. > :08:59.are hearing now? Being in asylum is a horrendous place to be. You are
:09:00. > :09:05.not able to work, you get very little money given, so imagine on
:09:06. > :09:08.top of that you are the victim of horrendous crime, you have been
:09:09. > :09:14.exploited, and you are trying to get your life back together. You have
:09:15. > :09:18.your life on hold. Some people might argue, why do we have to do this
:09:19. > :09:27.anyway? It is called being a part of the human rates. We would hope the
:09:28. > :09:28.country we are fleeing to would help us so there is a moral
:09:29. > :09:33.responsibility to do this. Bristol Zoo have released the first
:09:34. > :09:36.moving pictures of a baby gorilla Keepers don't know
:09:37. > :09:40.if it's a boy or a girl yet Now, just before we leave you,
:09:41. > :09:44.take a look at this. We had snow in parts of the West
:09:45. > :10:03.today, including Weston Super Mare. Some irony, isn't there, that we
:10:04. > :10:07.can't go throughout the whole winter without the West Country seeing a
:10:08. > :10:13.single snowflake and then suddenly in late April, look what happens.
:10:14. > :10:16.Some of it was snow, some of it was Hale, but tomorrow we continue under
:10:17. > :10:20.this cold winter pattern, which is not unusual for this particular time
:10:21. > :10:25.of year. Tomorrow is going to be a broadly similar day. A lot of dry
:10:26. > :10:29.and fine weather in the morning. The risk of showers in the afternoon but
:10:30. > :10:37.not everywhere. The showers will fade away. A dry night will then see
:10:38. > :10:40.temperatures get low enough to risk frost across various districts. It
:10:41. > :10:45.goes without saying a cold start tomorrow. But it should be a
:10:46. > :10:49.generally fine morning. As we head towards the afternoon, the risk of
:10:50. > :10:54.showers will start to increase. Tomorrow it is going to be more
:10:55. > :11:01.towards the east. Heavy in places. Snow less likely. The West will see
:11:02. > :11:02.the lion's share of the drier weather. Temperatures similar to
:11:03. > :11:12.today. Good evening. Another cold night
:11:13. > :11:15.lies ahead after what was a chilly day for swathes of the UK. This is
:11:16. > :11:17.the Highlands of Scotland.
