:00:41. > :00:44.To stand in solidarity with people across the world who do not feel

:00:45. > :00:47.that Donald Trump is fit to be President of the United States.

:00:48. > :00:49.The demonstration was organised by a local fitness instructor

:00:50. > :00:52.when she realised there was not a march already

:00:53. > :00:57.I put it online to see if anyone would join me and within three days

:00:58. > :00:59.we had over 1,000 sign-ups, I had to close registration

:01:00. > :01:02.because there have been so many people, so much interest.

:01:03. > :01:04.For some, it was their first-ever demonstration.

:01:05. > :01:07.For others, the continuation of an ongoing struggle

:01:08. > :01:12.We are here today because we are half-American and we really

:01:13. > :01:18.We want to stand up for equality and women's rights.

:01:19. > :01:21.I think his campaign was based on hate and stirring

:01:22. > :01:26.up hatred in America, which is already incredibly unequal.

:01:27. > :01:28.So, today, a show of unity, but what happens next very much

:01:29. > :01:31.depends on how this presidency plays out and whether the hopes and fears

:01:32. > :01:34.of millions of people around the world will or won't be realised.

:01:47. > :01:51.In May, voters will go to the polls in South Gloucestershire, Bath

:01:52. > :01:55.The main parties have been choosing their candidates and today

:01:56. > :01:58.it was the turn of the Tories, who are considered frontrunners

:01:59. > :02:06.South Gloucestershire Conservative councillor Tim Bowles won today

:02:07. > :02:11.They are optimistic he will do so again in May's election.

:02:12. > :02:14.Genuinely absolutely thrilled, but more importantly, humbled.

:02:15. > :02:19.It was an amazing turnout, terrific to see so many people.

:02:20. > :02:22.I know the other two candidates, I have got to know them well,

:02:23. > :02:25.There were two other brilliant candidates,

:02:26. > :02:31.I was really surprised to learn from everybody else how

:02:32. > :02:33.many other good quality candidates we had.

:02:34. > :02:36.Based on the votes cast across the three council areas

:02:37. > :02:38.in the last general election, the Conservatives, who came well

:02:39. > :02:40.ahead, reckon they are favourites for the Metro Mayor contest.

:02:41. > :02:44.But go back to 2010, it was the Lib Dems who came first

:02:45. > :02:48.And Labour know the area can be good for them.

:02:49. > :02:52.They got the most votes in the three previous general elections.

:02:53. > :02:56.Labour went first, recently choosing Lesley Mansell as their candidate.

:02:57. > :03:01.The Liberal Democrats must decide between former council leader

:03:02. > :03:03.Simon Cook and the ex-Bristol West MP Stephen Williams,

:03:04. > :03:09.Ask me a year ago, "Could the Liberal Democrats aspire to win

:03:10. > :03:11.an election across the West Country?"

:03:12. > :03:17.but the referendum votes, the Brexit outcome has transformed

:03:18. > :03:21.May's vote may not be so dramatic but 900,000 people of the West

:03:22. > :03:23.will get a brand-new type of political leader.

:04:19. > :04:23.Well, we have had some sunshine today, we have seen a bit of cloud

:04:24. > :04:26.push in over the last few hours and it think it will be

:04:27. > :04:28.slightly thicker as we head through the night.

:04:29. > :04:30.It could even turn a bit wintry over higher ground,

:04:31. > :04:33.There will be some breaks in the cloud so most

:04:34. > :04:35.towns and cities will be hovering above freezing.

:04:36. > :04:38.If you do get some breaks rurally, you could dip below,

:04:39. > :04:41.so we could get a touch of frost first thing tomorrow.

:04:42. > :04:43.And the risk of some ice on the untreated surfaces.

:04:44. > :04:46.I think it will start off grey and cloudy with some mist

:04:47. > :04:49.but we should see more sunshine developing as the day goes on.
