:00:17. > :00:17.surrounding organ donation - after her daughter had

:00:18. > :00:21.Kerry Smith says it made her realise there was a shortage of donors.

:00:22. > :00:27.She wants England to adopt the Welsh system,

:00:28. > :00:30.where it's assumed everyone has given consent, unless they opt out.

:00:31. > :00:37.15-year-old Megan Carson from Cheltenham fell ill last year

:00:38. > :00:40.Luckily, she had a liver transplant within two months.

:00:41. > :00:42.But that anxious wait made her family aware

:00:43. > :00:45.of a shortage of donors, one they think would be improved

:00:46. > :00:51.if England adopted the Welsh system of presumed consent.

:00:52. > :00:53.Well, one person can donate several organs,

:00:54. > :00:56.and I think that presumed consent can help so much more

:00:57. > :01:01.than just opting in, because not enough people opt in.

:01:02. > :01:03.Presumed consent would enable everybody

:01:04. > :01:08.I still believe they should have the choice and they can

:01:09. > :01:11.opt out if they need to, but it would ease the decisions

:01:12. > :01:15.that their upset relatives need to make at that time.

:01:16. > :01:18.Kerry Smith is canvassing politicians for a change

:01:28. > :01:31.If we did, like, adapt to it, then it should be more advertised

:01:32. > :01:33.on the fact that you can opt out if you want to.

:01:34. > :01:37.I wouldn't mind my organs going, but I just don't have a donor card.

:01:38. > :01:39.There are those, though, who worry about presumed consent -

:01:40. > :01:44.the thought the state in some way owns your organs, and might death be

:01:45. > :01:48.hastened if an organ was needed by someone else?

:01:49. > :01:53.But a leading medical philosopher in the West says it is worth

:01:54. > :01:58.remembering that you are more likely to need an organ than be a donor.

:01:59. > :02:02.We emphasise the donor's perspective, another equally

:02:03. > :02:07.important question is, would you want to have an organ

:02:08. > :02:10.available to you if you were in a situation where you needed one,

:02:11. > :02:14.The Department of Health in England says it has no plans

:02:15. > :02:16.to introduce an opt-out system, but it is watching developments

:02:17. > :02:19.in Wales, where the UK as a whole has one of the lowest rates

:02:20. > :02:28.A device, believed to be from World War Two, has been found

:02:29. > :02:32.It's thought it may have been a Spigot Mortar.

:02:33. > :02:40.Because of its size, a 1,500m exclusion zone was put

:02:41. > :02:45.in place and residents were advised to stay in doors.

:02:46. > :02:48.The final beams were put into place today for

:02:49. > :02:51.a new bridge for MetroBus - going over the Portbury freight

:02:52. > :02:53.line near Winterstoke Road in South Bristol.

:02:54. > :02:55.Completion of the bridge has been called a milestone.

:02:56. > :02:57.It'll mean the MetroBus can avoid congestion on the Winterstoke Road

:02:58. > :03:03.The scheme, which has been criticised for the intensive

:03:04. > :03:10.roadworks needed and the amount it's cost, is due to open in the Autumn.

:03:11. > :03:12.Staff caring for an injured swan that was shot with a crossbow have

:03:13. > :03:14.told us they're pleased with his progress this weekend.

:03:15. > :03:17.George was found on Cheltenham's Pittville Lake with a bolt

:03:33. > :03:38.The challenge was to learn a concert-full of music,

:03:39. > :03:43.Then this morning they all met for the first time to rehearse

:03:44. > :03:46.and there was a full performance at the end of the day.

:04:20. > :04:20.Hello, we're continuing with unsettled but also some milder

:04:21. > :04:23.weather through the week ahead but tonight, still some

:04:24. > :04:25.patchy light rain and drizzle for a time.

:04:26. > :04:27.Also a lot of cloud, mist and fog forming

:04:28. > :04:32.Temperatures tonight no lower than between 6-9.

:04:33. > :04:35.So a mild start tomorrow but also quite misty

:05:31. > :05:33.The rain is clearing. I wouldn't say necessarily particularly drying out

:05:34. > :05:38.after this rain band boost towards the east, it'll stay damp but cloudy

:05:39. > :05:43.and murky in the north. Maybe freezing fog in places. It will be

:05:44. > :05:48.cold in the glands of Scotland. It could be down to -10 degrees, it's

:05:49. > :05:54.already about -5 or 6 degrees right now. Monday we've got another band

:05:55. > :05:59.of rain heading our way. Most of the West Country, Wales, spots into
