:00:26. > :00:28.of pounds was raised by local people to pay for it.

:00:29. > :00:36.It's always been a popular spot - especially in weather like this.

:00:37. > :00:39.Burnham got its first lifeboat in 1836, and today the latest

:00:40. > :00:44.And here she is, the brand-new Burnham Reach.

:00:45. > :00:49.A huge community effort went into raising money for her,

:00:50. > :00:52.through bake sales, fun runs and charity balls, they made

:00:53. > :01:04.The government does not give to these people

:01:05. > :01:07.and donations are required, and it just shows what can be done.

:01:08. > :01:09.Safety is a top priority, especially what has happened

:01:10. > :01:11.in the past with people walking out into the sinking mud,

:01:12. > :01:15.It's also down to volunteers to run the service.

:01:16. > :01:17.Today, they christened their new member.

:01:18. > :01:24.She replaces one that was too old and too large.

:01:25. > :01:27.The tide in Burnham-on-Sea goes out a long way,

:01:28. > :01:30.so it is vital for us to have a smaller boat that

:01:31. > :01:37.can respond quickly, we can launch and get it away

:01:38. > :01:40.at low water when the tide is not suitably

:01:41. > :01:42.in far enough to launch the bigger boat.

:01:43. > :01:45.So we cover 24 hours a day, 364 days a year, and this new small

:01:46. > :01:48.D-class is going to be vital in as providing that cover, really.

:01:49. > :01:50.Today they took her out on a test run.

:01:51. > :01:53.But with treacherous tides on this coastline, the crews are ready

:01:54. > :02:00.Work began today to modernise Bath Spa station, ready

:02:01. > :02:02.for new longer Intercity Express trains coming into

:02:03. > :02:06.Over the next couple of weeks, platforms will be widened,

:02:07. > :02:09.the tracks will be altered, and there'll be further work

:02:10. > :02:12.going on in the surrounding area, including Keynsham station.

:02:13. > :02:15.There'll be a reduced service from, to and through Bath Spa

:02:16. > :02:23.A rail replacement bus service will run at weekends and bank holidays.

:03:59. > :04:00.seafront in the 1920s, and the council, when they built

:04:01. > :04:04.a small grassy airfield here, moved it here in 1935.

:04:05. > :04:08.We recently got a grant from the Coastal Communities Fund

:04:09. > :04:11.which went towards it, but there is a huge amount of work

:04:12. > :04:13.been done by volunteers to completely rebuild it
