:00:04. > :00:07.Welcome to South East Today. I'm Rob Smith.

:00:07. > :00:09.And I'm Natalie Graham. Tonight's top stories: Facing prosecution -

:00:09. > :00:19.the Sussex hospitals where patients still aren't receiving basic

:00:19. > :00:20.

:00:20. > :00:23.standards of care. I would have thought eating and drinking is

:00:24. > :00:30.something that we should look at a thing, if we can't give this to our

:00:30. > :00:33.patients, where are we going wrong? Homes across the South East are

:00:33. > :00:40.struck by lightning as intense thunderstorms and batter a Kent and

:00:40. > :00:42.Sussex. Also in tonight's programme: Why wasn't he properly

:00:43. > :00:46.supervised? An inquest jury questions how a prisoner due to

:00:46. > :00:48.stand trial for the murder of his daughter came to commit suicide.

:00:48. > :00:56.The Canterbury artist who is creating crazy concrete reefs in

:00:56. > :01:02.Mexico. My bike has a service where you send them a text message, and

:01:02. > :01:04.this in due back a balance. I think the LOL on the end was a bit harsh.

:01:04. > :01:14.And we meet Angela Marsh, the Sussex comic tipped for great

:01:14. > :01:17.

:01:17. > :01:20.Good evening. A Sussex hospital trust is being warned to improve

:01:20. > :01:22.patient care or face prosecution. The Care Quality Commission has

:01:22. > :01:25.ruled that, despite previous warnings, the East Sussex Hospitals

:01:25. > :01:30.NHS Trust is still failing to meet essential standards of quality and

:01:30. > :01:33.safety. Even so, the bosses of Eastbourne District General

:01:33. > :01:39.Hospital and the Conquest Hospital in Hastings say they are confident

:01:39. > :01:47.of making significant progress by the September deadline. Sara Smith

:01:47. > :01:52.reports. Two hospitals, one Trust and a

:01:52. > :01:58.deadline of 2nd September. They have to make urgent improvements in

:01:58. > :02:03.patient care. When we first went in February, we advise the trust of

:02:03. > :02:07.what we had found, and when we went back in April, things had improved.

:02:07. > :02:11.But it still doesn't make the progress that it needs to, so they

:02:11. > :02:16.are on their last warning. Incomplete patient records and

:02:16. > :02:21.assessments are leaving patients at risk, says the commission. If the

:02:21. > :02:25.trust do not sort this within the timetable, services could be

:02:25. > :02:32.reduced. I want it sorted. The residents of Eastbourne deserve for

:02:32. > :02:37.it to be sorted. The trust was warned to make improvement after

:02:37. > :02:40.inspections in February, but just last month Neil Adams's brother was

:02:41. > :02:45.discharged without any recognition of his vulnerability. Robert Adams,

:02:45. > :02:51.who has learning difficulties, had been taken to hospital by ambulance

:02:51. > :02:58.after a collapse. He was extremely vulnerable. He was left to walk

:02:58. > :03:03.home from Eastbourne to Seaford, 15 miles, in a pair of pyjamas. He had

:03:03. > :03:06.no mobile phone. By chance he was found by his nephew. It was also

:03:06. > :03:11.observed that patients did not always receive the help they needed

:03:11. > :03:14.to eat and drink. I would have thought that eating and drinking is

:03:15. > :03:20.something they really ought to look at, and think if they can't do that

:03:20. > :03:23.the patience, we really must be doing something wrong. But the

:03:23. > :03:28.Trust insists it has made improvements, and will continue to

:03:28. > :03:34.do so. We have moved on substantially in the areas they

:03:34. > :03:38.identified, and they have lifted to of the warning notices. They have

:03:38. > :03:44.identified that we have got further to do, but we have already shown

:03:44. > :03:48.that we can do this. And they have until 2nd September to prove that.

:03:48. > :03:51.Sara Smith joins us live from Hastings. What sort of sanctions

:03:52. > :03:55.could the trust be facing? commission says the trust has to

:03:55. > :04:01.make these urgent improvements by the deadline, or they could be

:04:01. > :04:04.fined or even prosecuted. They say the trust is failing to ensure the

:04:04. > :04:10.care and welfare of service users, failing to protect them against the

:04:10. > :04:13.risks of receiving unsafe or inappropriate care or treatment.

:04:13. > :04:18.The chief executive who we just heard from, he has been in place

:04:18. > :04:23.for a year, and he has another two months to turn things around. He

:04:23. > :04:26.has a very angry local MP who will be looking for heads to roll if

:04:26. > :04:29.those improvements are not made. Sara, thank you.

:04:29. > :04:32.Lightning strikes have started fires and caused damage at a number

:04:32. > :04:35.of homes across the South East. A man and woman had to be rescued

:04:35. > :04:38.from a property in Ashford after it caught fire just before two o'clock.

:04:38. > :04:43.Fire crews also tackled blazes in Crawley, Medway and Tunbridge Wells,

:04:43. > :04:44.from where our news correspondent Mark Norman joins us. Mark - some

:04:44. > :04:54.spectacular thunderstorms this afternoon, causing widespread

:04:54. > :04:59.problems. Indeed, Natalie. This looks like a

:04:59. > :05:02.quiet residential street now, but lightning struck at the bottom of

:05:02. > :05:07.the Road this afternoon, travelled along the road and hit this

:05:07. > :05:12.telegraph pole. It then hit this chimney breast and Loch -- knocked

:05:12. > :05:17.off some tiles. But then travelled down the living room wall and burst

:05:17. > :05:21.out of the wall. Something similar happened in Ashford. We have spoken

:05:21. > :05:26.to the occupants of both homes. struck the corner of the chimney

:05:26. > :05:32.stack, broke the tiles, the tiles fell down on the lovely sports car

:05:32. > :05:36.of the man next door, which is so sad. But it seems to have come down

:05:36. > :05:41.the chimney stack and through the wall. I could smell smoke and

:05:41. > :05:45.burning, and my friend went upstairs to my computer room which

:05:45. > :05:51.was set alight, and it had come from the aerial. It had gone right

:05:51. > :05:56.down to the system. It was terrifying. Mark, what about

:05:56. > :05:59.elsewhere in the region? Were heard earlier at a house fire

:05:59. > :06:06.started by lightning. There was another strike at Gatwick which

:06:06. > :06:11.knocked out flights. Then we were sent this stunning picture of the

:06:11. > :06:18.lightning strike in minster. Wafted makes dramatic pictures, it was a

:06:18. > :06:24.terrifying incident. You can see more dramatic pictures

:06:25. > :06:34.In a moment: Down to the final dozen - fighting for a coveted

:06:35. > :06:40.

:06:40. > :06:43.place in next month's Open at An inquest jury looking into the

:06:43. > :06:45.suicide of a man in Lewes Prison have raised serious questions into

:06:45. > :06:49.how potentially vulnerable inmates are supervised. Tony Couchman died

:06:49. > :06:51.just two days before he was due to stand trial for the murder of his

:06:51. > :06:54.daughter, Victoria. The jury returned a narrative verdict,

:06:54. > :06:57.particularly concerned that no full mental health review was carried

:06:57. > :07:07.out on Couchman, despite having been deemed at risk of suicide or

:07:07. > :07:07.

:07:07. > :07:17.self-harm some months before. John The suicide of Tony Couchman may

:07:17. > :07:18.

:07:18. > :07:22.have left his daughter's death shrouded in mystery,. The. That the

:07:22. > :07:28.jour -- the jury chose to flag up in court was that he had been given

:07:28. > :07:33.inadequate mental health support. Also prisoners can be locked up

:07:33. > :07:40.unobserved for too long overnight, especially at weekends. And razor

:07:40. > :07:42.blades are available in cells even to those on suicide watch.

:07:43. > :07:48.The deputy governor of Lewes prison said that to deprive men of shaving

:07:48. > :07:51.kit could lead to anger. They have to strike a balance between

:07:51. > :07:56.prisoners' rights as grown men and a slight risk. This is only the

:07:56. > :08:00.second case of suicide with a razor blade that he had come across.

:08:00. > :08:03.The jury today heard that improvements were already in place

:08:03. > :08:13.both in the criminal justice system and the health service. Some

:08:13. > :08:24.

:08:24. > :08:27.comfort, perhaps, to those still Ministers have asked Network Rail

:08:27. > :08:28.to explain how train passengers came to be left stranded in very

:08:28. > :08:31.uncomfortable conditions in yesterday's extremely high

:08:31. > :08:34.temperatures. Thousands of train passengers were caught up in long

:08:34. > :08:37.delays getting out of London after a train broke down at Dartford.

:08:37. > :08:40.Passengers on another train forced the doors open to escape the heat,

:08:40. > :08:42.and walked along the tracks. An 11-year-old girl with a rare

:08:42. > :08:45.condition of the immune system, thought to affect only five people

:08:45. > :08:48.in the UK, has died. Melanie Cottle from Folkestone suffered from

:08:48. > :08:51.Chediak Higashi Syndrome, a condition so rare her doctor has

:08:51. > :08:55.not seen it for 20 years. Her family had appealed for people with

:08:55. > :08:58.the blood type B positive to come forward as she was in need of blood

:08:58. > :09:01.donations so she could have a bone marrow operation. But she died from

:09:01. > :09:04.heart failure over the weekend. The head of a Kent primary school says

:09:04. > :09:07.she believes it's morally wrong for teachers to go on strike. Angela

:09:07. > :09:10.Konarzewski says none of her staff at Fleetdown Primary School in

:09:10. > :09:13.Dartford will take part in the day of action planned for Thursday. But

:09:13. > :09:15.union activists say that it's vital that teachers have the right to

:09:16. > :09:17.protest over significant issues like pension cuts. Katherine Downes

:09:17. > :09:20.reports. Thousands of families across the

:09:20. > :09:23.South East are preparing for a day of disruption on Thursday. But not

:09:23. > :09:28.those with children at Fleetdown Primary, though teachers there will

:09:28. > :09:32.be making a stand in another way. think we have a great

:09:32. > :09:37.responsibility towards our children, which is why I feel uncomfortable

:09:37. > :09:41.about striking, and I have done throughout my career. There is a

:09:41. > :09:46.moral issue about whether we should go out on strike, even if we have a

:09:46. > :09:50.very strong point, and leave our children without school that day.

:09:51. > :09:57.But teachers will be making a stand. We wanted a different way of

:09:57. > :10:01.approaching the issue. We are thoroughly concerned and heard by

:10:01. > :10:06.the proposed changes, but at the same time, we feel and understand

:10:06. > :10:09.that there is an obligation that we have towards the children.

:10:09. > :10:14.decided we wanted to make a protest in a different way, and we decided

:10:14. > :10:17.we would put together a letter to send to Michael Gove. We are going

:10:18. > :10:21.to ask our parents if they would be good enough to sign a petition

:10:21. > :10:28.which they will send in as well. It's an approach that's supported

:10:28. > :10:33.by pupils' parents. I am proud of the school that they are not

:10:33. > :10:38.striking, because it would be inconvenient, but I do agree with

:10:38. > :10:41.their pensions and their rights, too. They are not striking, but

:10:41. > :10:44.making their views known in a way that puts the children first.

:10:44. > :10:48.schools, though, are being forced to close as a result of the strike.

:10:48. > :10:51.141 Schools in Kent will be closed or partially closed out of 600 in

:10:51. > :10:54.the authority. In Medway, 32 will be closed or partially closed, in

:10:54. > :10:57.East sussex 75 will be affected, Brighton and Hove will see 43 shut

:10:57. > :11:07.or partially shut and finally a picture is gradually emerging in

:11:07. > :11:11.

:11:12. > :11:17.Surrey, where 120 schools are I am prepared to put up with a

:11:17. > :11:22.lifetime of lowish pay, but I want to have reasonable salary --

:11:22. > :11:32.pension to look forward to, but I'm not prepared to put up with lowish

:11:32. > :11:33.

:11:33. > :11:36.pay and no pension. Trish has been excused her duties in parliament to

:11:36. > :11:40.help out at her local school on Thursday. Until then, one last

:11:40. > :11:44.ditch attempt and David Cameron. These strikes are wrong. For you,

:11:44. > :11:51.for the children, for the good of the country. These changes we

:11:51. > :11:55.Northumbrian police are trying to trace a suspected sex offender who

:11:55. > :11:59.may be in Kent or Sussex. Spencer Philip Clark is wanted on suspicion

:11:59. > :12:01.of sexually assaulting a 14-year- old he met through a dating website.

:12:02. > :12:11.Officers believe he may be in the South East because he has

:12:12. > :12:13.

:12:13. > :12:16.The government is being condemned for planned cuts to the probation

:12:16. > :12:23.service in Kent. The shadow justice minister Helen Goodman told the

:12:23. > :12:26.Commons that the county was facing a cut of 1 in every seven. The

:12:26. > :12:36.justice secretary, Ken Clarke, blamed overspending by the previous

:12:36. > :12:46.

:12:46. > :12:49.It's been reported that the police dog handler at the centre of an

:12:49. > :12:51.inquiry after two dogs were found dead in a locked car as

:12:51. > :12:53.temperatures reached 30 Celsius has received hospital treatment for an

:12:53. > :12:56.apparently self-inflicted injury. Today Britain's most senior police

:12:56. > :12:59.officer has said he's very saddened by the deaths at a police dog

:12:59. > :13:01.training centre in Kent. Sir Paul Stephenson said Scotland Yard is

:13:01. > :13:03.taking the matter "very seriously". Simon Jones reports.

:13:03. > :13:06.Colleagues in shock. Two dog's dead after it appears they were

:13:06. > :13:08.forgotten about in a locked car. It prompted Britain's most senior

:13:08. > :13:16.police officer so Paul Stephenson to state that he was very saddened

:13:16. > :13:25.by what had happened. The officer believed to be involved is Sergeant

:13:25. > :13:29.Ian Craven, filmed dog handling here. You don't want an adult talk

:13:29. > :13:34.constantly looking for attention, and we want the dog that will sit

:13:34. > :13:39.there and ignore them. On Sunday, the two dogs were found collapsed

:13:39. > :13:44.and couldn't be saved. It is believed the officer threw himself

:13:44. > :13:47.on a colleague's car when he had the dog had died. In a statement,

:13:47. > :13:53.the Metropolitan Police confirmed that an officer went missing from

:13:53. > :13:57.duty. A search was launched because of concern over his well-being. He

:13:57. > :14:01.was eventually recovered with an injury to his hand. I was shocked

:14:01. > :14:07.when I heard it was a police handler dock, because we tend to

:14:07. > :14:11.hold that these people know better. The RSPCA and the police themselves

:14:11. > :14:15.are now investigating. It should never have happened, and I can

:14:15. > :14:19.fully understand the anger, the sadness, the disappointment of dog

:14:19. > :14:23.lovers everywhere, and that includes every other member of our

:14:24. > :14:28.dog section and the police. But we need to take the emotion out, look

:14:28. > :14:38.at the facts and work out how the tragedy happened. The officer is

:14:38. > :14:39.

:14:39. > :14:41.It is 16 minutes to seven. This is our top story tonight. A Sussex

:14:41. > :14:44.hospital trust has been warned it faces prosecution if it doesn't

:14:44. > :14:46.improve patient care. The Care Quality Commission says despite

:14:46. > :14:48.previous warnings, staff at Eastbourne District General and

:14:48. > :14:53.Hastings Conquest hospitals are still failing to provide the

:14:53. > :14:56.essential standards of quality and safety. The Trust has until

:14:56. > :15:04.September to make significant progress.

:15:04. > :15:10.Also in tonight's programme: I went to visit my friend and her new baby.

:15:10. > :15:15.That's tedious, isn't it? We need Angela Barnes, R comic tipped for

:15:15. > :15:21.success. And what a difference a day can make. After the dramatic

:15:21. > :15:31.weather, things are coming down. If you have a story you think we

:15:31. > :15:42.

:15:42. > :15:45.should be covering on South East Most artists opt for a gallery to

:15:45. > :15:48.display their work, but a sculptor from Kent has chosen a very

:15:48. > :15:54.different location. Jason deCaires Taylor from Canterbury has crafted

:15:54. > :15:56.an underwater world of concrete creations near Cancun in Mexico.

:15:56. > :16:06.His latest installation, a VW Beetle, has just been lowered onto

:16:06. > :16:08.

:16:08. > :16:11.the sea bed. Juliette Parkin has Not an accident, not an abandoned

:16:11. > :16:19.piece of scrap - but a cement sculpture destined for life under

:16:19. > :16:21.the ocean. What started as a small- scale project has grown into a

:16:21. > :16:31.watery underworld of 400 sculptures, all planned with the marine

:16:31. > :16:36.

:16:36. > :16:42.The Volkswagen was particularly designed for crustaceans and

:16:42. > :16:45.lobsters, and they like particular spaces with particular sizes at the

:16:45. > :16:51.particular height. I am looking at making a bigger piece which

:16:51. > :16:55.actually has normal urban architecture, but designed for

:16:55. > :17:05.marine life, so each house would be designed for a different type of

:17:05. > :17:08.

:17:08. > :17:11.The artist, who had experience in traditional stone-carving

:17:11. > :17:18.techniques in Canterbury Cathedral, has left his mark on his home city

:17:18. > :17:20.with an installation fixed to the bed of the river Stour. Alluvia is

:17:21. > :17:30.cast in cement, the sculptor using the special materials needed to

:17:31. > :17:33.

:17:33. > :17:38.encourage marine life to flourish I was living on an island that had

:17:38. > :17:42.a lot of problems of hurricane, and some of the can hurricane -- coral

:17:42. > :17:46.reefs had been particularly wiped out. I was looking for ways to

:17:46. > :17:49.express myself artistically, but also do something practical for the

:17:49. > :17:52.environment. The long-term aim - to create

:17:52. > :18:02.artificial reefs and protect the natural ones by giving tourists

:18:02. > :18:09.

:18:09. > :18:12.There are just a couple of weeks to go until the Open Golf Championship

:18:12. > :18:15.starts at Sandwich, where the likes of Rory McIlroy and Lee Westwood

:18:16. > :18:19.will battle it out for the most prestigious prize in the sport. But

:18:19. > :18:22.alongside them will be a number of people you are unlikely to have

:18:22. > :18:24.ever heard of - amateurs and club pros who have battled through

:18:25. > :18:28.qualifying tournaments for the right to have a crack alongside the

:18:28. > :18:37.best in the game. Neil Bell reports on those competing for the final 12

:18:37. > :18:41.spots. For these golfers, the chance to

:18:41. > :18:44.play in the Open is one of the highlights of their career.

:18:44. > :18:50.Thousands of players around the world were hoping to make it to

:18:50. > :18:53.sandwich. This was their final chance. Michael Campbell, based in

:18:53. > :18:58.Brighton, was one of the biggest names involved today, and well

:18:58. > :19:06.placed at the halfway stage. used to the pressure of a golf

:19:06. > :19:09.tournament. Are just going low, it is a strong field once again, with

:19:09. > :19:15.a bunch of amateurs out there playing. So it is a true test of

:19:15. > :19:19.golf. The Windies up for the second round, which is great. Tom Sharratt

:19:19. > :19:22.successfully qualified for the Open as an amateur three years ago, and

:19:22. > :19:29.eventually finished 19th. He knows how nerve-racking the process can

:19:29. > :19:35.be. There is no point. If you finish 4th, you wait -- may has

:19:35. > :19:40.well finished 44th. If it is your day, it comes off, and if it

:19:40. > :19:43.doesn't, you can always come back next year. But that almost didn't

:19:43. > :19:48.happen for Benn after he was diagnosed with cancer just months

:19:48. > :19:52.ago. Despite weeks of treatment, he would love to make it to the open.

:19:52. > :20:00.I will be disappointed if we don't. I am lucky to be here, lucky to be

:20:00. > :20:03.playing golf again. But I can't seem to put a score together.

:20:03. > :20:07.Weather interruptions this afternoon halted play, and

:20:07. > :20:11.increased the tension. The scoring on all four courses was impressive.

:20:11. > :20:21.It may well be later this evening or even tomorrow before the

:20:21. > :20:22.

:20:22. > :20:26.identity of the 12 golfers will be It will be exciting if one of them

:20:26. > :20:29.do as well. Now, if you're worried you might be getting too old to

:20:29. > :20:32.play your favourite sport, you might want to think again. The

:20:33. > :20:35.Sussex over-70s cricket team have never been beaten. Yesterday they

:20:35. > :20:43.defeated Worcestershire at Malvern by 54 runs in the Over-70s League,

:20:43. > :20:49.which was set up last year. We have a player with two new knees and two

:21:00. > :21:03.I tell you, they are quick between the wickets! She turned

:21:06. > :21:09.who thought she had the gift for making people laugh - and Angela

:21:09. > :21:12.Barnes from Brighton is already getting noticed on the comedy

:21:12. > :21:15.circuit. She's just won the much coveted BBC Radio Two New Comedy

:21:15. > :21:18.Award, which in the past has recognised the talents of Lee Mack,

:21:18. > :21:21.Rhod Gilbert and Alan Carr. Robin Gibson has been to meet her, and

:21:21. > :21:24.joins us now from Brighton. Robin, she's a Kent and Sussex girl

:21:24. > :21:31.through and through, isn't she? I think we will claim her as one of

:21:31. > :21:38.ours. She was a student here in Brighton. She still works here, so

:21:38. > :21:41.no stranger to venues like this one here. She still has a day job here,

:21:41. > :21:51.although after these awards, she may find herself in a lot of demand

:21:51. > :21:51.

:21:51. > :22:00.A giddy moment she still finds hard to accept. She only gave the

:22:00. > :22:05.competition a go at the last moment, with little or no expectations.

:22:05. > :22:08.have still not quite got my head around it. Suddenly around getting

:22:08. > :22:12.offered gigs that two weeks ago I would never have been offered,

:22:12. > :22:17.which is brilliant, and they get to play these clubs are no wanted to

:22:17. > :22:23.play for ages. I am 34, which I was absolutely

:22:23. > :22:26.fine about until I realised I had outlived five Blue Peter dog.

:22:26. > :22:34.worked hard for it, chasing standup dates in front of many... And not

:22:34. > :22:39.so many. She's still a very funny woman. Wherever I go and the

:22:39. > :22:47.country, they love Brighton. It is because we are so optimistic here.

:22:47. > :22:55.We sell buckets and spades. It is a She lives in Brighton and grew up

:22:55. > :23:01.in Maidstone, home turf. I love playing in Kent, because I am from

:23:01. > :23:06.Kent and have jokes about Kent. My dad used to come to all the comedy

:23:07. > :23:11.nights, and he would say, have a go, you do it. I would say no, I am too

:23:11. > :23:17.shy. Then I lost my dad very suddenly a few years ago, and it

:23:17. > :23:21.made me think, I should have just done it. So I signed up to a course

:23:21. > :23:24.in 2009, and six months later I started doing gigs.

:23:24. > :23:29.Some critics said in the male- dominated world of comedy she was a

:23:29. > :23:35.token gesture in the comedy awards final, but she showed them. This is

:23:35. > :23:39.really awesome. Thank you. A really popular winner here tonight. Well,

:23:39. > :23:43.a great talent and a very nice person. We put two in front of a

:23:43. > :23:48.microphone with just as in the room, and I have to say, she did have us

:23:48. > :23:52.in stitches. So, where can you catch up with the homecoming queen?

:23:52. > :23:55.She is in Hastings later this week, and next week back here behind me.

:23:55. > :23:59.So you could come and make your minds up.

:23:59. > :24:03.Thank you very much. Very mean to put her to the test! But she did

:24:03. > :24:06.make them laugh. Staff and pupils at a Kent school are spending the

:24:06. > :24:09.entire day in complete silence. The challenge of teaching 1,000 pupils

:24:09. > :24:12.without speaking at Maidstone Grammar School for Girls was staged

:24:12. > :24:22.to raise money for a new building and to highlight the importance of

:24:22. > :24:25.

:24:25. > :24:35.We could never do that, could we? It wouldn't work here. Now, the

:24:35. > :24:35.

:24:35. > :24:39.weather has been doing dramatic What a difference a day makes.

:24:39. > :24:43.Yesterday, are standing temperatures. Today, a different

:24:43. > :24:49.picture. I have received so many tweeds about the what the weather

:24:49. > :24:54.has been like way you are. It has been a case of short, sharp showers,

:24:54. > :25:04.some of the money 30 seconds but pretty dramatic, and a lot of

:25:04. > :25:08.thunder and lightning. Tonight,, and cooler. We should be seeing all

:25:08. > :25:12.of the thunder and lightning dying out. All of this heavy cloud has

:25:12. > :25:16.now cleared away, but we are still seeing a small amount around. That

:25:16. > :25:20.is going to mean still a few more showers to come, particularly

:25:20. > :25:25.towards Folkestone, but overnight it should be a pretty dry picture,

:25:25. > :25:31.becoming clear for many of us. Temperatures down to about 12

:25:31. > :25:36.Celsius, so quite a bit cooler. Tomorrow we will start to see a

:25:36. > :25:44.little bit of sunshine. Around the middle of the day, the clearest

:25:44. > :25:49.skies will occur, and then it will cloud over again. Those

:25:49. > :25:55.temperatures, only up to 21 Celsius, so quite a lot cooler then

:25:55. > :26:01.yesterday and today. Tomorrow night, cooler once again, a low of about

:26:02. > :26:07.ten Celsius. Clear Sky for most of us, and that will be how things

:26:07. > :26:12.will be over the next few days. High pressure in charge by Thursday,

:26:12. > :26:16.sitting across the south-west of England, but for us and the South

:26:16. > :26:20.East, there will be quite a bit of sunshine, although those

:26:20. > :26:24.temperatures really just not that impressive for this time of year.

:26:24. > :26:30.Yesterday was very hot, but it is a different -- different story for

:26:30. > :26:35.the next few days. There will be a little sunshine around, the odd

:26:35. > :26:38.shower creeping in by the evening. Come Thursday and Friday, a mixture

:26:38. > :26:41.of cloud and sunshine, but the weekend should bring us some

:26:41. > :26:50.writers sunshine, even though temperatures are really not up to

:26:50. > :26:54.much. And that is the weather for Not too bad, but it doesn't seem to

:26:54. > :26:57.know what it is doing. Well, let's recap tonight's top stories. David

:26:57. > :27:00.Cameron has urged thousands of public sector workers not to go on

:27:00. > :27:03.strike on Thursday. In a speech in Birmingham this afternoon, he said

:27:03. > :27:07.the proposed changes to their pensions were fair and essential. A

:27:07. > :27:12.hospital trust in Sussex has been given a warning to urgently improve

:27:12. > :27:15.patient care, or it could face prosecution. The Care Quality

:27:15. > :27:19.Commission has ruled that despite previous warnings Eastbourne

:27:19. > :27:22.District General and the Conquest Hospital in Hastings are still

:27:22. > :27:26.failing inessential standards of safety.

:27:26. > :27:31.And an artist from Canterbury has created an underwater world of

:27:31. > :27:33.concrete sculptures of the coast of Mexico. They include a VW Beetle
