:07:55. > :07:58.on impact, acting as an icepack to reduce swelling to the brain after
:07:58. > :08:08.a crash. Ellie Price has been finding out more about his latest
:08:08. > :08:09.
:08:09. > :08:13.invention. Last year, there were more than
:08:14. > :08:18.5600 crashes on the roads of Kent and East Sussex. Nearly 900 people
:08:18. > :08:20.were killed or seriously injured. Even wearing a seatbelt, they are
:08:20. > :08:26.chilling as figures for any driver, especially those with young

:08:29. > :08:34.a long time, but has not afforded children any form of protection
:08:34. > :08:38.whatsoever. Even if a young child is strapped into a forward-facing
:08:38. > :08:43.car crash -- car seat, it is still at risk of serious injuries come as

:08:51. > :08:54.anything in the car moves at the same speed as the car when it is
:08:54. > :08:58.impacted. So an umbrella or bottle of water can come forward and kill
:08:58. > :09:04.a child. We have created a device which completely in sconces the

:09:33. > :09:40.location of where it happens. But at 500, it is not cheap. You will
:09:40. > :09:47.already spend around 200 on a basic seat. 150 for the first
:09:47. > :09:51.stage seat. Hello! No, I would definitely pay that money. Quite

:10:05. > :10:12.They will have to wait. The seat will not be on the market until
:10:12. > :10:16.next year. The invention was inspired by the
:10:16. > :10:20.local community there in Brighton? That's right, the inventor Julian
:10:20. > :10:24.Preston Powers told me the idea came from a Sussex fire fighter who
:10:24. > :10:27.approached him and asked him to develop a car seat that could be
:10:28. > :10:32.released quickly from a car in the event of a crash. The idea grew
