:00:06. > :00:08.Welcome to South East Today, I'm Juliette Parkin.

:00:08. > :00:13.And I'm Rob Smith. Tonight's top stories:

:00:13. > :00:18.A serial sex attacker has assaulted three women in Ashford. Police are

:00:18. > :00:27.warning women to take extra care. One victim says she's been left

:00:27. > :00:33.traumatised. I wouldn't walk anywhere from the house. They only

:00:33. > :00:35.go in the car and I don't ride my bike on my own either.

:00:35. > :00:38.Back home after emergency surgery. A nine-year-old's hospital stay

:00:38. > :00:45.raises new questions over health reforms.

:00:45. > :00:47.Also in tonight's programme: Resident of a Sussex village where

:00:47. > :00:50.demonstrators are campaigning against drilling for oil are

:00:50. > :00:55.invited to meet with a national protest group.

:00:55. > :00:58.We are live with the latest. The mum from Maidstone who lost

:00:58. > :01:02.half of her body weighs so she can hold her son's.

:01:02. > :01:11.And the European beach tennis championships come to Brighton and

:01:11. > :01:14.the UK for the first time. But, what is it?

:01:14. > :01:18.Good evening. A serial sex attacker is believed

:01:18. > :01:21.to have assaulted three women in Ashford. One of the victims, a 47-

:01:21. > :01:25.year-old woman says she is now afraid to walk anywhere on her own.

:01:25. > :01:28.Another victim was a 17-year-old girl on her way to school. Police

:01:28. > :01:33.have launched a major investigation and are warning women in the area

:01:33. > :01:39.to stick to well lit areas when travelling alone. Simon Jones

:01:39. > :01:45.reports. Three assaults. Police today at the

:01:45. > :01:49.scene of the latest. They are now being linked to one man. This is a

:01:49. > :01:55.computer-generated image of him. One of his victims recently spoke

:01:55. > :02:05.of the effect of the ordeal. would not walk anywhere from the

:02:05. > :02:07.

:02:07. > :02:13.house. I only go in the car and I don't ride my bike, her own either.

:02:13. > :02:22.Yes, it has affected my life. Quite massively. -- I don't ride my bike

:02:22. > :02:26.on my own either. A first assault was in 2012 when a 17-year-old girl

:02:26. > :02:32.was assaulted on her way to school. In September a woman was assaulted

:02:32. > :02:36.when walking her dog and last Friday a 23-year-old woman was also

:02:36. > :02:42.assaulted when walking her dog. The police believe these three cases

:02:42. > :02:47.are linked. This is the area of the latest assault. In all three the

:02:47. > :02:52.women who have been victims have given a similar description of the

:02:52. > :02:57.attacker and also police have managed to gather forensic evidence.

:02:57. > :03:01.I would say that in a particular geographical area, for people to

:03:01. > :03:07.take commonsense precautions. Do not going to unload or none busy

:03:07. > :03:12.areas and do not take short cuts in isolated areas. For people who live

:03:12. > :03:15.and walk their dogs in the area, it is a worrying time. He it is quite

:03:15. > :03:21.fat because this is where I live and I should feel safe walking my

:03:21. > :03:27.dog so it is quite scary. It is awful. It is awful, isn't it? They

:03:27. > :03:29.should not happen. Of course it is worrying.

:03:29. > :03:35.The police say they have a substantial number of officers

:03:35. > :03:37.working on the case and they are convinced the attacker is local.

:03:37. > :03:40.Changes to hospital services in East Sussex are under fresh

:03:40. > :03:43.scrutiny tonight after a nine-year- old boy was left waiting in a busy

:03:43. > :03:47.recovery unit for eight hours through the night because the

:03:47. > :03:50.children's ward at Eastbourne is currently closed overnight.

:03:50. > :03:56.In another incident, two children knocked down outside the town's

:03:56. > :03:58.hospital were sent to Hastings for treatment. The trust in charge are

:03:58. > :04:06.insisting the reforms improve patient safety, but as John Young

:04:06. > :04:11.reports the local MP says enough is enough.

:04:11. > :04:17.If this row is about and nine-year- old boy who had a successful

:04:17. > :04:22.emergency operation in Eastbourne but then had to wait in a recovery

:04:22. > :04:27.ward for eight hours, through the night, before he could be taken by

:04:27. > :04:30.ambulance to a children's award in Hastings because there is not an

:04:30. > :04:34.overnight children's ward in Eastbourne any more. I could not

:04:34. > :04:41.sleep because they were doing the cleaning and emptying the dustbins

:04:41. > :04:46.and they had the Radio 1 and it was beeping because of all of the

:04:46. > :04:52.noises. He had to travel 20 miles in a bumpy ambulance after an

:04:52. > :04:56.operation. We were over at Hastings at 4am and we do not think he had

:04:56. > :05:01.better care. He it is the latest in a lengthening list of controversy

:05:01. > :05:04.is over hospital care that brings people onto the streets of East

:05:04. > :05:09.Sussex. Six years ago plans were announced to focus maternity

:05:09. > :05:12.services in Hastings but it did not happen. Three years later

:05:12. > :05:16.inspectors found patients were sometimes at risk in both hospitals

:05:16. > :05:21.and demanded changes. Two years later that the reforms began on a

:05:21. > :05:25.trial basis, leading to today's news. It is not just the maternity

:05:25. > :05:30.and children's units that are scaled back but accident and

:05:30. > :05:34.emergency has affected as well. Today it is reported that to 13

:05:34. > :05:38.year olds that were knocked down outside Eastbourne's coat hook --

:05:38. > :05:45.Hospital were taken to Hastings because that is when non-

:05:45. > :05:49.threatening -- non-life threatening accidents now go. We are the

:05:49. > :05:56.fastest-growing town in East Sussex but what do these people have

:05:56. > :06:01.against our town? You are smaller than other towns that do not have

:06:01. > :06:06.hospital facilities. Here you are right. The transport facilities are

:06:06. > :06:09.absolutely shocking between the hospitals. It was a tense meeting

:06:09. > :06:12.five months ago when managers made the decision to try out these new

:06:12. > :06:16.arrangements. They were not giving interviews today but insists that

:06:16. > :06:20.things are safer this way. They also know that cases like this do

:06:20. > :06:23.not help them to win the argument. John Young reporting and he's live

:06:23. > :06:28.now in Hastings, so, John, was anyone standing up for these

:06:28. > :06:31.reforms today? There are organisations that do defend these

:06:31. > :06:37.reforms. They point out it is logical to centralise expertise in

:06:37. > :06:41.a town like Hastings for a County the size of East Sussex. No one was

:06:41. > :06:46.prepared to come on camera. Many dealers would be wondering what the

:06:46. > :06:50.buses or about. In Maidstone, crawler, door -- Dover, Canterbury,

:06:50. > :06:57.those towns have all lost services in the way that he's borne it now

:06:57. > :07:01.appears to be doing. That said, some paediatric doctors in Hastings

:07:01. > :07:06.say they are not sure that this is the safest way forward. It is a

:07:06. > :07:10.confusing picture for patients but what is clear is that the hospital

:07:10. > :07:14.trust are stressing that this is temporary for now and there is an

:07:14. > :07:16.online survey which we have details of on our website and they want to

:07:16. > :07:19.hear what the public think and there will be full consultation

:07:19. > :07:21.before any of this is made permanent.

:07:21. > :07:24.In a moment: A major recruitment campaign to

:07:24. > :07:32.take on scores of on-call firefighters, so why are the unions

:07:32. > :07:35.unhappy? Residents in the Sussex village of

:07:35. > :07:39.Balcombe have been invited to a special meeting at the village hall

:07:39. > :07:46.this evening. It's been arranged by a national protest group who plan a

:07:46. > :07:49.five-day action camp from next Friday outside Balcombe. It is of

:07:49. > :07:52.course over the plans to drill for shale oil and gas there - the

:07:52. > :07:54.campaigners say the meeting is designed to explain exactly what to

:07:55. > :08:04.expect next week. Our environment correspondent Yvette Austin is

:08:05. > :08:05.

:08:05. > :08:09.outside the village hall now. Well, we are expecting this tiny

:08:09. > :08:14.village room to be packed later on this evening, with local residents

:08:14. > :08:18.and campaigners alike. People have come from further afield to camp

:08:18. > :08:21.outside the Cuadrilla test drilling site to protest at their Rolly --

:08:21. > :08:27.as the lorries with the drilling equipment have come and gone. Who

:08:27. > :08:33.are these national campaigners? They are keen on direct action, the

:08:33. > :08:35.sort of thing we saw earlier in the week with protesters chained to a

:08:35. > :08:40.fire engine block in the side. Last year they campaigned and occupied a

:08:40. > :08:42.power station and now they are planning mass, audacious and

:08:42. > :08:46.creative act of disobedience, they say.

:08:46. > :08:51.And how is this going down in Balcombe?

:08:51. > :08:54.Well, of course the protesters will be telling the residence tonight a

:08:54. > :08:57.little bit more about what they plan but I think the residents are

:08:58. > :09:00.becoming increasingly concerned about what is going on with

:09:00. > :09:04.Cuadrilla and increasingly frustrated that they cannot do

:09:04. > :09:08.anything so they welcome the protesters with open arms and this

:09:08. > :09:13.is what a residents said earlier. am hoping to here and share some of

:09:13. > :09:18.the experiences of people who have been through this situation before.

:09:18. > :09:23.It is a wealth of experience and we are quite green at this so we are

:09:23. > :09:28.quite excited to see what other groups have to say. Of course,

:09:28. > :09:31.there is some concern in this small Sussex town about what the new

:09:31. > :09:35.campaigners are going to do but I think that they are more concerned

:09:35. > :09:38.about what Cuadrilla is doing and what the protesters are planning.

:09:38. > :09:41.Thank you very much. Two people have been arrested on

:09:41. > :09:44.suspicion of murder over the discovery of a body on the Isle of

:09:44. > :09:47.Sheppey. A 44 year-old man and 43- year-old woman, both from London,

:09:47. > :09:49.are currently in police custody. The body, which is still

:09:49. > :09:52.unidentified, was found on the beach between Little Groves Caravan

:09:52. > :09:58.Site and the Isle of Sheppey Holiday Village. Police are

:09:58. > :10:01.continuing to carry out door to door inquiries.

:10:01. > :10:05.Five the MP for Hove and Portslade has called in police after

:10:05. > :10:10.receiving a death threat on Twitter for calling on David Cameron to

:10:10. > :10:13.speak out against Russia's anti-gay legislation. He said that we to

:10:13. > :10:16.trolls should not be allowed to make threats while lurking behind

:10:16. > :10:18.their computers. A man's been arrested after two

:10:18. > :10:23.cash machines were stolen from a Tesco supermarket in Pembury near

:10:23. > :10:28.Tunbridge Wells yesterday morning. Kent Police found the machines in

:10:28. > :10:31.Marden on Thursday evening. The 28- year-old man from Maidstone has

:10:31. > :10:35.been arrested on suspicion of theft. Part of the North Terminal at

:10:35. > :10:37.Gatwick airport had to be evacuated this afternoon because of a fire. A

:10:37. > :10:40.coach caught fire outside the terminal building around lunchtime.

:10:40. > :10:50.No one was hurt, and flight departures and arrivals were not

:10:50. > :10:50.

:10:50. > :10:52.affected. The fire service across Kent is

:10:52. > :10:55.holding recruitment drives for on- call firefighters - those who do

:10:55. > :10:58.other work but are available at certain times in case of emergency.

:10:58. > :11:00.They say they want to boost rural response times.

:11:00. > :11:04.However the fire brigades union says nationally response times are

:11:04. > :11:07.worse than they were ten years ago, and that a shortage of on-call fire

:11:07. > :11:09.crews has led to an increased risk of injury and death among full time

:11:09. > :11:16.firefighters, something the fire service here vigorously disputes.

:11:16. > :11:21.Charlie Rose reports. There have been some major fires in

:11:21. > :11:28.the South East recently. This recycling depot in Sittingbourne

:11:28. > :11:31.and risk their own in said Leonards are two examples from last month.

:11:32. > :11:36.Kent Fire and Rescue services looking to recruit more part-time

:11:36. > :11:40.or on call firefighters to help to deal with any incident. We want to

:11:40. > :11:44.recruit local people to their local fire stations. It is the best way.

:11:44. > :11:48.They are in the local community and they know the local area. We are

:11:48. > :11:52.looking at how we can get applicants from the local community

:11:52. > :11:56.to come forward and be part of a valuable team, a team that is

:11:57. > :12:00.highly regarded by the public, and come and join us. Two years ago the

:12:00. > :12:04.rules changed for on-call firefighters from an ad hoc system

:12:04. > :12:08.to one where they are paid to be available during pre-agreed hours.

:12:09. > :12:13.This year and national government study called for streamlining in

:12:13. > :12:19.the fire service and a shift to more part-time firefighters. The

:12:19. > :12:22.report received criticism from some as it excuse to cut spending.

:12:22. > :12:27.think it is a retrograde step because it puts people at risk

:12:27. > :12:32.because inevitably the response times if you increase part-time

:12:32. > :12:37.firefighters, the response times will increase. Fire quadruples in

:12:37. > :12:41.size through time. It is absolutely vital that the quicker we get there

:12:41. > :12:46.the quicker we put the fires out. We can save lives and reduce

:12:46. > :12:50.injuries and reduce Safiya loss. It also has a big impact on fire

:12:50. > :12:54.fighters as well. If they are waiting for additional resources to

:12:54. > :12:59.get there and trying to deal with fires without sufficient resources

:12:59. > :13:04.then it put their lives at risk. Kent Fire and Rescue Service

:13:04. > :13:07.insists their recruitment drive is for additional firefighters and not

:13:07. > :13:09.took replace full-time staff. Well, our reporter Charlie Rose is

:13:10. > :13:12.outside Tunbridge Wells fire station now. Charlie, is this

:13:12. > :13:17.because Kent Fire & Rescue service are losing staff?

:13:18. > :13:23.Well, it seems that way. The fire service here in the county said

:13:23. > :13:28.that it loses between 70 and 80 firefighters every year through

:13:28. > :13:32.natural wastage. They need to be replaced. It has already recruited

:13:32. > :13:36.78 firefighters in the past year. It says that on-call firefighters

:13:36. > :13:39.are trained to the same standard as full-time staff and they all

:13:39. > :13:44.operate on the front line. The Government says that fire related

:13:44. > :13:50.incidents are down 46% compared to 10 years ago and on-call

:13:50. > :13:54.firefighters provide much-needed flexibility to the service.

:13:54. > :13:58.This is our top story tonight: A serial sex attacker is believed

:13:58. > :14:01.to have assaulted three women in Ashford. Police have launched a

:14:01. > :14:03.major investigation, and are warning women in the area to stick

:14:03. > :14:13.to well lit areas when travelling alone.

:14:13. > :14:15.

:14:15. > :14:20.Also in tonight's programme: Not beach volleyball or cricket, we are

:14:20. > :14:24.on the beach in Brighton as beach tennis comes to town.

:14:24. > :14:27.We have some cosmic fireworks coming up as well as the weather. I

:14:27. > :14:37.will have all the details. If you have a story you think we

:14:37. > :14:48.

:14:48. > :14:51.should be cabbing and I will have It's been a truly dramatic

:14:51. > :14:54.transformation for mother of two Maxine Freeman who says she was

:14:54. > :14:58.inspired to lose half of her body weight so that her two young sons

:14:58. > :15:00.could fit their arms around her and give her a proper cuddle. The 42-

:15:01. > :15:03.year-old from Maidstone shed 11 stone in just 18 months after

:15:03. > :15:09.having weight loss surgery. As Rebecca Williams now reports, she

:15:09. > :15:13.says her new figure has given her a new lease of life.

:15:13. > :15:19.She tried every diet going but nothing worked. Maxine Freeman

:15:19. > :15:23.decided to have weight-loss surgery. In just 18 months she has lost half

:15:23. > :15:27.of her body weight. I was very self-conscious of my thighs and I

:15:27. > :15:33.thought that people stared at me all of the time. I went to

:15:33. > :15:36.Chessington a couple of months ago and I could go on every single ride

:15:36. > :15:39.and before I struggled. Sometimes I could not get barriers under my

:15:39. > :15:43.stomach and I could not go on roller coasters because I was

:15:43. > :15:47.worried about not fitting. Maxine started to been geed when her

:15:47. > :15:54.brother died in a motorbike accident as a teenager but she says

:15:54. > :15:59.her inspiration to finally shed the way it was her husband and her two

:15:59. > :16:05.sons. -- binge eat. We can put our arms around her and she can play

:16:05. > :16:10.football with us. I am really proud of her. She has kept a photo diary

:16:10. > :16:14.to track her weight loss. Medics had to re-read her digest of system

:16:14. > :16:18.pass most of her stomach so now she feels for the for longer. Some

:16:18. > :16:23.people would question you having this kind of surgery on the NHS so

:16:23. > :16:29.what would you say to them? Well, I have tried everything and struggled

:16:29. > :16:32.for 18 years. It is not the quick fix. You really do have to work at

:16:32. > :16:37.it still. It is a very big risk having the surgery but I had to

:16:37. > :16:42.take the risk to be there for my boys when I get older. She says she

:16:42. > :16:52.can now be an inspiration to her sons and she enjoyed taking part in

:16:52. > :16:54.

:16:54. > :16:58.every aspect of their lives. In June, a band of gorillas were

:16:58. > :17:04.flown out from Kent to be resettled in West Africa in a bold scheme to

:17:04. > :17:09.try and re-populate the critically endangered primates in the wild.

:17:09. > :17:18.But they had to leave one of the family at home. Kibi couldn't fly

:17:18. > :17:21.as she was pregnant at the time. Now she's given birth and her

:17:21. > :17:23.keepers say she is lonely and pining for the others. As Peter

:17:23. > :17:27.Whittlesea reports, they're now desperate to find someone to fly

:17:27. > :17:33.her out to join them. You can see it in her eyes, Kibi is

:17:33. > :17:41.an tapis -- unhappy despite giving birth five weeks ago to her baby, a

:17:41. > :17:46.goal back. That is because she is missing her silver back. -- Lelie.

:17:46. > :17:50.The Aspinall Foundation is determined to reunite the pair.

:17:50. > :17:54.is a love story. We are looking for the owner of a private jet to loan

:17:54. > :18:02.us that Jenn Suhr we can reunite her with her family in the Forest

:18:02. > :18:07.of her eye selectors -- ancestors. It has to be a big enough jet to

:18:07. > :18:12.take a crate with a gorilla inside but that is the only requirement.

:18:12. > :18:16.Although she gets on with her current room-mates, they are all

:18:16. > :18:26.females but she wants to be with the father of her new baby and as a

:18:26. > :18:26.

:18:26. > :18:30.result she is restless. Karen les Kibi's family has been taken to the

:18:30. > :18:37.Gabon and unfortunately at the time and Kibi could not go with them

:18:37. > :18:42.because she was pregnant. Gorillas are quite social animals and the

:18:42. > :18:48.only animals we could socialise with her whilst she was pregnant

:18:48. > :18:54.were these old ladies here. No Kibi is far from stupid. She wants a

:18:54. > :18:59.better life for her and her baby and if a private jet can be found

:18:59. > :19:09.she will swap this cage for a massive reserve in Africa and she

:19:09. > :19:10.

:19:10. > :19:13.will be reunited with the love of her life. You have probably heard

:19:13. > :19:15.of beach volleyball and each football but have you heard of

:19:15. > :19:18.beach tennis? For the first time, the European

:19:18. > :19:20.Beach Tennis Championships are being held in the UK. They are

:19:20. > :19:23.taking place all weekend in Brighton. Entrants from 20

:19:23. > :19:26.countries are taking par. It's not a hugely well known sport

:19:26. > :19:28.in this country, but it is apparently hugely popular in Europe.

:19:28. > :19:33.Our reporter Chrissie Reidy is at the Yellow Wave Volleyball Centre

:19:33. > :19:38.now. Chrissie, tell us, what exactly is beach tennis?

:19:38. > :19:43.It is similar but different to regular tennis. It is a mixture of

:19:43. > :19:49.tennis, volleyball and badminton. It is relatively new here in the UK

:19:49. > :19:52.but it is massive in Europe. It any other current champions. This is

:19:52. > :19:57.the first time the European Championships have been here in UK,

:19:57. > :20:01.are you delighted? I am. I am delighted to have them here in

:20:01. > :20:05.Brighton. It is the first time we have had them here. It is the 6th

:20:05. > :20:12.European Championships. What about the game itself? Where did it come

:20:12. > :20:16.from? There is a bit of an argument. We say it is Italian but Brazil

:20:16. > :20:21.also claimed they started is about 40 years ago. It has been two years

:20:21. > :20:28.since it was first brought to this country. Thank you very much. We

:20:28. > :20:31.can cross to the team captain. You are going to be playing in a moment.

:20:31. > :20:37.Would you like this to be an Olympic sport? That would be

:20:37. > :20:40.fantastic if it did. It is already played in over 40 countries

:20:40. > :20:44.worldwide. Spectators love it, players love it and it is what the

:20:44. > :20:51.Olympics are all about. You have done two matches so far so how are

:20:51. > :20:56.you getting on? We have played the Bulgarians in the mixed doubles. We

:20:56. > :21:00.are positive and we were are going to give it our best shot. We beat

:21:00. > :21:04.the Lithuanians in the men's doubles and they were seeded 14th

:21:04. > :21:08.in the tournament. Where do you think you will come overall?

:21:08. > :21:10.play in the third round against the French tomorrow and they are the

:21:11. > :21:16.third seeds and that will be a tough match but we will take a

:21:16. > :21:22.positive mental attitude and the game. Lovely to talk to you. From

:21:22. > :21:25.summer sport to winter sport. You may not know but it is six months

:21:25. > :21:29.until the Winter Olympics in the Russian resort of Sochi. Team GB

:21:29. > :21:33.has not been chosen yet but our sports reporter has been speaking

:21:34. > :21:38.to some of the hopefuls at the training ground in Bath.

:21:38. > :21:44.There is much more to the Winter Olympics than skiing. In

:21:44. > :21:47.disciplines like the skeleton Team GB are among the world's best.

:21:48. > :21:53.Lizzy Yarnold has made a huge impact in the sport in the last two

:21:53. > :21:56.years and is a genuine medal contender in February. I still have

:21:56. > :22:00.two months of hard work in the gym getting my sled ready and packing

:22:01. > :22:05.bags and getting everything in order. Then in the first half of

:22:05. > :22:08.the year I will compete on the world circuit which I had to do and

:22:08. > :22:13.they get elected to the Games in January and then look ahead to

:22:13. > :22:17.Sochi. This time last year Craig Pickering had never seen bobsleigh

:22:17. > :22:21.racing but last February he competed in the world championship.

:22:21. > :22:26.I am used to being part of a relay team in the athletics and this is

:22:26. > :22:29.the same so we have a team of four and some reserves as well. It is a

:22:29. > :22:33.case of everyone working together to achieve the same goal. The more

:22:33. > :22:37.time before the Olympics the better for me because I am a beginner and

:22:37. > :22:41.I need more time to get used to what is going on. Six months until

:22:42. > :22:46.Sochi, I think I have further ahead than I was so it is all progressing

:22:46. > :22:51.very well. Many of the other Team GB athletes visited Sochi earlier

:22:51. > :22:56.in the year and have a good idea of what to expect. The track itself is

:22:56. > :23:00.magnificent and has three uphill sections so it is interesting from

:23:00. > :23:04.that perspective and there is no other tracking the world that have

:23:04. > :23:09.that. Some callers are almost too long so you are rising as you come

:23:09. > :23:14.out of the corners. I have a lot of work to do to understand those

:23:14. > :23:21.corners. In a few months they will be off to the eyes of the USA and

:23:21. > :23:25.Europe but success in Sochi is the ultimate goal.

:23:25. > :23:30.I have got some fans here behind me. How do you think they are going to

:23:30. > :23:36.do? I think they have got off to a very good start and they are going

:23:36. > :23:43.to win. All of this continues on until Sunday so if you can get down

:23:43. > :23:48.here, please do! Thank you very much. She did well

:23:48. > :23:50.not to get whacked on the head when they were playing beforehand. The

:23:50. > :23:53.pick of this weekend's football league fixtures see Brighton and

:23:53. > :23:56.Hove Albion coach Oscar Garcia lead out his Seagulls side at the Amex

:23:56. > :23:58.for his first home league game since taking charge. They're

:23:58. > :24:04.playing Derby County. Gillingham travel to Wolves. The Gills manager

:24:04. > :24:12.Martin Allen says he's happy to go into the match as underdogs.

:24:12. > :24:20.don't think any of us can avoid the fact that it is a big club. They

:24:20. > :24:24.have got some good players and a fantastic history. It is going to

:24:24. > :24:32.be a great occasion. When you get promoted, this is the sort of game

:24:32. > :24:35.that you look for. Sussex cricketer Matt Prior managed

:24:35. > :24:38.to score 17 runs for England on the first day for the fourth Ashes test

:24:38. > :24:41.against Australia before being given out leg before wicket. Prior

:24:41. > :24:44.was originally given the benefit of the doubt by umpire Aleem Dar, but

:24:44. > :24:50.the Aussies called for a review, and Hawkeye determined that the

:24:50. > :24:52.ball would have hit the leg stump. England closed the day on 238 for 9.

:24:52. > :24:56.England closed the day on 238 for 9. Now we will find out what the

:24:56. > :25:00.weather is going to do. Is it all good stuff?

:25:00. > :25:01.Absolutely. Can you remember what you were doing 10 years ago

:25:01. > :25:06.tomorrow? Tricky.

:25:06. > :25:08.I would have to have a think. I bet everyone was having a

:25:08. > :25:13.barbecue. It was the hottest they ever

:25:13. > :25:20.recorded in the UK and it happened right here in Kent in the South

:25:20. > :25:24.East. It was near that that sham. It was 38.5 degrees which is 101 in

:25:24. > :25:30.Fahrenheit. It was the hottest ever recorded temperature and I don't

:25:30. > :25:36.think we will reject this year. To compare today got up to 24 degrees

:25:37. > :25:41.has so quite a long way off. The parties so far this year was 34.2

:25:41. > :25:45.degrees and that was earlier. I don't think we will make any

:25:45. > :25:49.records this weekend. It will be fine but not sweltering. Lovelies

:25:49. > :25:54.sunny spells and a chance of a few showers on Saturday night and into

:25:54. > :25:58.Sunday. Saturday daytime will stay dry. This evening is lovely.

:25:58. > :26:02.Temperatures are still lovely in the sunshine but once the fund set

:26:02. > :26:06.at about 8:30pm we are going to have those temperatures dropping

:26:06. > :26:12.very quickly. It will be cooler than last night with temperatures

:26:12. > :26:18.down to about ten degrees in the countryside and about 13 in towns.

:26:18. > :26:22.They cool start to the day and it will not be wall-to-wall sunshine

:26:22. > :26:28.with patches of cloud coming and going. Temperatures will not be as

:26:28. > :26:31.warm as today. They will be below average but reasonable enough. This

:26:31. > :26:35.evening and overnight we will see the cloud coming back again so what

:26:35. > :26:43.will not be quite as cool. There are some shout was popping out of

:26:43. > :26:46.the sky at times. -- showers. Many of us will stay dry on Saturday

:26:46. > :26:50.night into Sunday's to you might have to watch your garden but there

:26:50. > :26:55.will be sunshine and a smattering of showers. From Sunday onwards our

:26:55. > :26:58.chances of seeing the meteor shower will actually increase. They start

:26:58. > :27:05.from tomorrow night but it will be to cloudy. The peak will be on

:27:05. > :27:09.Monday night, the 12th. We should have some beautiful clear skies and

:27:09. > :27:19.it is all happening because the Earth passes through the tail of a

:27:19. > :27:23.comet. On Monday night we could see 80 or of 100 meteors every single

:27:23. > :27:26.hour. There is a lovely run of sunny weather and a small chance a
