:00:08. > :00:09.Good evening. More severe wdather is the BBC News channel. We are back

:00:10. > :00:13.Good evening. More severe wdather is forecast to hit the South E`st over

:00:14. > :00:16.the next 24 hours, with coastguards warning of the dangers to pdople

:00:17. > :00:20.wanting to see the dramatic weather for themselves on cliffs and

:00:21. > :00:26.beaches. Tonight, there are 11 flood warnings in Kent and Sussex. John

:00:27. > :00:29.Young reports. Four o'clock in Eastbourne this

:00:30. > :00:33.afternoon and the sorts of scenes that make coastguards anxiots. As

:00:34. > :00:39.the rain subsides and the force of the winds and waves take centre

:00:40. > :00:43.stage. The winds have been picking up all afternoon and are expected to

:00:44. > :00:47.get much stronger through the night and into tomorrow. It may look like

:00:48. > :00:49.a great chance to go for a stroll but that is what worries

:00:50. > :00:54.coastguards, especially when this sort of weather happens at weekends.

:00:55. > :00:58.Dylan Alkins was swept out to sea on a Sunday afternoon in Newhaven. He

:00:59. > :01:02.was 14 years old. Seven weeks later, a woman in her late 30s drowned

:01:03. > :01:07.after a Friday night out in Brighton. It seems she had run into

:01:08. > :01:10.the waves after a few drinks. Particularly it is people coming

:01:11. > :01:14.down looking to take an exchting photograph or playing a dard with

:01:15. > :01:20.some waves breaking. It can quickly overwhelm someone and take them out

:01:21. > :01:23.to sea. Further inland, the challenges

:01:24. > :01:27.remain. This was Canterbury city centre this morning, this is the

:01:28. > :01:30.remains of a car in Tunbridge Wells. More heavy rain is expected

:01:31. > :01:34.tomorrow. A vehicle takes twice as long to

:01:35. > :01:38.stop in rain and we would encourage people to slow down and heed the

:01:39. > :01:42.conditions. If it is diffictlt to see because of rain or sprax then

:01:43. > :01:45.slow down. On the road or on the coast, the

:01:46. > :01:51.message tonight from the experts, keep your distance.

:01:52. > :01:55.Meanwhile, angry farmers on the Romney Marsh claim that not enough

:01:56. > :01:57.is being done to maintain the area during this period of heavy

:01:58. > :02:02.rainfall, with some complaining of ruined crops, waterlogged fhelds and

:02:03. > :02:12.clogged waterways. Ian Palmdr reports.

:02:13. > :02:17.He's a farmer not enjoying his work. He says much of his wheat crop has

:02:18. > :02:21.been underwater since December last year. He blames the Environlent

:02:22. > :02:26.Agency for not maintaining the water courses on Romney Marsh. I think

:02:27. > :02:30.there could be a case for using the money better than they do.

:02:31. > :02:35.Internet has got to be high priority. We've got a good system in

:02:36. > :02:41.place, it just needs maintahning. Farmers say that reedbeds h`ven t

:02:42. > :02:50.been cut back and waterways haven't been dredged.

:02:51. > :02:58.The Environment Agency says it be silted several areas. It has a

:02:59. > :03:07.five`year plan for the Romndy marshes which it will sit share with

:03:08. > :03:12.farmers over the coming week. You discover one of the two machines

:03:13. > :03:18.here isn't working. The Envhronment Agency says it will meet farmers and

:03:19. > :03:23.their representatives as soon as the weather improves.

:03:24. > :03:26.The Southeastern train servhce between Battle and Robertsbridge is

:03:27. > :03:29.not expected to resume until the last week of February. The line was

:03:30. > :03:32.closed following two landslhps due to the recent bad weather.

:03:33. > :03:36.Replacement bus services ard currently running to replacd trains

:03:37. > :03:40.between the two stations. Ndtwork Rail say they are bringing hn 1 ,000

:03:41. > :03:43.tonnes of stone to rebuild the embankment at Whatlington Vhaduct,

:03:44. > :03:46.one of the landslip sites. Football and Brighton kept tp their

:03:47. > :03:50.play`off push with victory over struggling Doncaster but Ch`rlton

:03:51. > :03:57.lost 2`0 at home to Birmingham. And in League One, Gillingham bdat

:03:58. > :04:03.Carlisle 2`1. Let's get the weather.

:04:04. > :04:12.I'm afraid we have another wet and windy nights to come and thdre is

:04:13. > :04:17.still a wet of `` Met Officd yellow warning in place. That is until six

:04:18. > :04:23.o'clock in the morning. Showers pushing north eastwards and gusty

:04:24. > :04:32.south`westerly winds as well. It made peak at 70 mph on the

:04:33. > :04:40.coastline. Not a very pleas`nt night tonight. Tomorrow is not too

:04:41. > :04:48.dissimilar to today. More showers pushing through, heavy at thmes

:04:49. > :04:57.Still a strong south`westerly wind. On Monday morning ice may bd an

:04:58. > :05:02.issue. And of course the ground is saturated. On Tuesday there is an

:05:03. > :05:05.early yellow warning in place for rain again. Have a very good night.

:05:06. > :05:16.Goodbye. Good evening. Unfortunately I don't

:05:17. > :05:20.have much good news in this forecast. There may be a brief

:05:21. > :05:23.respite later tomorrow with the wind and the rain but it will not be long

:05:24. > :05:28.enough and we have today's storm withers, pounding many coastlines in

:05:29. > :05:32.the south and west, hence the Amber wind warning from the Met Office. It

:05:33. > :05:36.is a windy day across the board and it is not just the wind that is a

:05:37. > :05:40.concern. It is causing high waves, damaging winds, but there is more

:05:41. > :05:44.shower activity, hail, thunder and snow in the north and the potential

:05:45. > :05:48.for another 10-20 millimetres of rain in parts of Wales, the

:05:49. > :05:53.south-west, perhaps some persistent showers in the south-east, coupled

:05:54. > :05:56.with those rather lively wins. They hold the temp Richard tonight but

:05:57. > :06:01.there could be ice in Scotland, given that we have wintry showers

:06:02. > :06:06.Wash they hold the temperatures up to. Here is the respite. The shower

:06:07. > :06:10.frequency edges down in the afternoon and the winds was well to

:06:11. > :06:15.slightly drier, brighter Sunday afternoon. But it is only a

:06:16. > :06:16.temporary dry spell. Tomorrow evening and
