:01:12. > :01:17.Good evening. The Prime Minhster David Cameron has said that
:01:18. > :01:20.immigration is a major concdrn for this country and a major concern to
:01:21. > :01:23.him, after seeing shocking pictures showing the desperate attempts being
:01:24. > :01:27.made by migrants to enter the port of Dover. The images, filmed by
:01:28. > :01:32.South East Today, show men climbing under trucks at Calais to sht on the
:01:33. > :01:35.axles. After watching the footage, the Prime Minister said that the
:01:36. > :01:38.Government is "strengthening our borders". Our Home Affairs
:01:39. > :01:47.Correspondent Colin Campbell is in Calais for us now. Colin, it is an
:01:48. > :01:51.extraordinary situation there. It is. Day and night, hundreds of
:01:52. > :01:56.migrants here in Calais are trying to break into UK destined trucks, or
:01:57. > :02:00.conceal themselves on board the vehicle. There is one common aim, to
:02:01. > :02:04.get to the UK as soon as possible. As I have discovered, the efforts by
:02:05. > :02:09.the migrants are relentless and often very dangerous.
:02:10. > :02:14.Night`time in Calais. A truck we have fitted with cameras stops at a
:02:15. > :02:19.junction near the port. In seconds, two men crawl beneath their vehicle.
:02:20. > :02:22.Precariously, they try to b`lance on the rear axle. These are migrants,
:02:23. > :02:28.trying to get to Britain from France. Realising we are gohng
:02:29. > :02:32.nowhere, the stowaways disappear back into the bushes, where eight
:02:33. > :02:38.others are waiting. Hello? Do you speak English? Yes,

:02:53. > :02:57.Another truck, one we have `rranged to follow and another risking his

:03:24. > :03:27.I am phoning the French polhce to tell them migrants has crawled in
:03:28. > :03:31.underneath this lorry. He h`s wedged himself right into the axle of the
:03:32. > :03:35.vehicle. He is in a very dangerous position. We have asked the driver
:03:36. > :03:41.to stop and I am calling thd police to vacant, and remove him. @s I make
:03:42. > :03:47.the call, the man emerges. Hf I speaking this, you can help me. This

:03:53. > :03:57.I know, but I have to go. Wd have called the Belize, you could kill

:04:06. > :04:09.live in, we have to go to England. Calais is again experiencing a surge
:04:10. > :04:14.in migrant numbers. Many Syrians are now arriving. They say they have led
:04:15. > :04:20.war and persecution. Others have come from Afghanistan, Iraq, and
:04:21. > :04:24.Libya. There are estimated to be as many as 400, most sleeping `mong

:04:37. > :04:40.this is not good. And you are willing to risk your life, possibly
:04:41. > :04:51.be killed, by crawling under a lorry and riding on the axle #?
:04:52. > :04:55.Yes. In the last two weeks, to migrants have been killed trying to
:04:56. > :05:00.stow away on drugs. Many others have been injured. Charities say they can
:05:01. > :05:10.feed them but not keep them safe. What is being done? Nothing. Some
:05:11. > :05:16.bodies have been found but one line in the newspaper in Calais. That is
:05:17. > :05:20.all. But the risks here are no deterrent. Every day, we ard going

:05:37. > :05:44.with cameras, it is clear to see the challenges drivers face. Blhnk and

:05:49. > :05:53.under this thing is no easy feat. Even in daylight hours, it hs dark
:05:54. > :05:57.and here, it is slippery and feels very confined. To get onto the axle
:05:58. > :06:01.in cell, that will take spedd and agility and if you don't get the

:06:07. > :06:12.They are getting into the axle. Be very careful, there are two of them

:06:27. > :06:31.looking down the road to pull out, it is just frightening. It hs
:06:32. > :06:36.frightening. Something somewhere has got to change, because you can kill

:06:49. > :06:52.Well, the French local authorities here in Calais say Calais is simply
:06:53. > :06:57.unable to cope at the moment with the numbers of migrants which are
