:00:12. > :00:15.Good evening. A charity aimhng to restore Hastings seafront pher that

:00:16. > :00:18.was damaged by fire has sold nearly ?600,000 worth of shares. The whole

:00:19. > :00:21.project will cost ?14 million and the charity has received money from

:00:22. > :00:27.twice as many share`holders as expected. Jane Witherspoon reports.

:00:28. > :00:30.Derelict but not abandoned. The restoration of Hastings Pier is no

:00:31. > :00:35.longer the pipe dream that went up in smoke in 2010 when a fird

:00:36. > :00:41.destroyed it. Hastings Pier charity has beaten its ?500,000 target to

:00:42. > :00:45.aid the project. We closed the online investment last night at

:00:46. > :00:49.around 590,000. We have another two days of off`line investment to add

:00:50. > :00:54.to that so I would say we whll close at around ?600,000 raised, which is

:00:55. > :00:58.tremendous. I was hoping thdy did reach the target because I knew a

:00:59. > :01:01.couple of days ago that thex hadn't quite got there, so yeah, that's

:01:02. > :01:04.good news, definitely. I am very pleased that they have becatse my

:01:05. > :01:10.wife and I are both shareholders. Are you? Why did you choose to

:01:11. > :01:14.invest? Why do you think? What is a seaside town without its pidr?

:01:15. > :01:18.Hastings Pier Charity is a community benefit society, a kind of co`op,

:01:19. > :01:21.and for a minimum ?100 buy hnto the scheme, shareholders get a say in

:01:22. > :01:24.the future direction of the pier, and the company hopes to pax

:01:25. > :01:31.interest on that investment after three years of operations. We'll be

:01:32. > :01:34.hosting things that would bd seasonable, so a funfair, chrcuses,

:01:35. > :01:43.public art, music festival, open`air cinema. It is hoped it will reopen

:01:44. > :01:46.in spring 2015. Police are appealing for witnesses

:01:47. > :01:50.after a young girl was allegedly sexually assaulted while wahting for

:01:51. > :01:52.a bus in Canterbury. It's claimed a man approached the 16`year`old on

:01:53. > :01:58.Thursday afternoon and pulldd her top down. He was then pushed away by

:01:59. > :02:01.his friend. The man who wants to be the next

:02:02. > :02:05.Labour MP in Chatham and Aylesford says he thinks a control on

:02:06. > :02:08.escalating rent prices would be a good idea. Tristan Osborne has told

:02:09. > :02:10.the BBC Sunday Politics show that Labour are looking at the

:02:11. > :02:16.possibility of linking long`tem rental prices to the rate of

:02:17. > :02:20.inflation. He says it would prevent people from being priced out of

:02:21. > :02:24.their homes. It is looking `t long`term rental agreements between

:02:25. > :02:27.tenants and landlords. It is ensuring we have a national landlord

:02:28. > :02:33.register so standards are maintained, but it is looking at the

:02:34. > :02:36.indexation of increases to tenancy. Three men have been arrested by

:02:37. > :02:40.police investigating alleged racist chanting at Gillingham's Le`gue One

:02:41. > :02:43.match yesterday. It's said to have been directed at Rotherham Tnited's

:02:44. > :02:48.manager, Steve Evans, during his side's 4`3 win over the Gills at the

:02:49. > :02:52.Priestfield. The trio have now been released on police bail.

:02:53. > :02:55.Elsewhere, and in the Champhonship, Brighton drew 0`0 at Barnsldy, while

:02:56. > :02:58.Charlton's survival hopes took a blow as Danny Williams' second`half

:02:59. > :03:06.strike secured a 1`0 win for Reading at The Valley. And in Leagud One,

:03:07. > :03:10.this great strike by Jamie Proctor wasn't enough for Crawley to avoid

:03:11. > :03:15.their fifth successive defe`t. They were beaten 2`1 at home by Crewe.

:03:16. > :03:20.Almost 9000 people have completed the fifth Brighton Marathon, which

:03:21. > :03:23.was started by Paula Radcliffe. A new course record was set bx the

:03:24. > :03:28.Kenyan William Chebor today, who finished in under two hours ten

:03:29. > :03:32.minutes. Nicola Haseler was there. The finish line is a famili`r sight

:03:33. > :03:38.to Paula Radcliffe, but tod`y she was behind it, supporting Brighton's

:03:39. > :03:42.runners. I heard good things about it over the last four or five years

:03:43. > :03:46.and I think it is great to have another top`quality marathon in the

:03:47. > :03:52.UK. The Kenyan William Chebor set a new record despite stopping to tie

:03:53. > :03:57.his shoelace at the seven`mhle mark. First time here to run in Brighton

:03:58. > :04:01.Marathon and I enjoyed it. We are four hours in. The elite runners

:04:02. > :04:04.have all competed their racd. Now crossing the finish line ard all

:04:05. > :04:07.those people not just running for themselves but for a charitx that

:04:08. > :04:15.holds a special place in thdir hearts. Who is running the larathon?

:04:16. > :04:18.Auntie Roisin. She is raising money for MacMillan, because for le,

:04:19. > :04:31.really, I had breast cancer very recently.

:04:32. > :04:37.We are here to support my whfe Liz doing her first marathon. She's done

:04:38. > :04:40.the half marathon, doing it for Hospice Care Weston`super`M`re, so

:04:41. > :04:43.we've come all the way over to Brighton today. It is going to be

:04:44. > :04:48.really exciting to know how she s done and I'm going to be re`lly

:04:49. > :04:50.happy to see her. Let's see how the weather is looking

:04:51. > :04:53.now. happy to see her.

:04:54. > :04:58.Let's see how the weather It has been a mild but cloudy day. That

:04:59. > :05:02.cloud will persist overnight. We will see rain spreading frol the

:05:03. > :05:05.west keeping that south`westerly wind. Some outbreaks could turn

:05:06. > :05:11.heavy into the early hours of tomorrow, temperatures not dropping

:05:12. > :05:15.below double figures so it will be a mild start but a grey and wdt one,

:05:16. > :05:21.we will see outbreaks of rahn, some of which could turn heavy,

:05:22. > :05:25.especially towards us back towards coastal areas and we could see a

:05:26. > :05:30.brisk wind as well so wet and windy for much of tomorrow. By afternoon,

:05:31. > :05:34.rain will turn more showery so there will be more in the way of drier

:05:35. > :05:38.spells. For the rest of the week it looks a bit better. A cold front

:05:39. > :05:43.comes through on Monday and behind it it will be cooler but Tudsday

:05:44. > :05:46.looks like it will stay dry. Temperatures will have dropped by

:05:47. > :05:51.then and we will see cooler nights but also lots of dry weather with

:05:52. > :05:58.plenty of spells of sunshind. That's it from me. I will bd back

:05:59. > :06:02.tonight at 10:20pm. Until then, have a good evening.

:06:03. > :06:12.Good evening, after a fairly mild weekend, a fresher week in store for

:06:13. > :06:17.the week ahead. Moreshine at times but not a huge amount tomorrow

:06:18. > :06:20.because that's shaping up to be a wet day for just about all of us.

:06:21. > :06:24.The rain developing through the night and it is still wet at the

:06:25. > :06:27.moment in southern counties. Watch how the rain becomes more extensive

:06:28. > :06:33.and heavier with a strengthening breeze. For northern England and

:06:34. > :06:40.Northern Ireland, a colder feel to the night. In northern Scotland

:06:41. > :06:46.there will be temperatures in sheltered spots. A mild start for

:06:47. > :06:49.Monday. If you escape through the morning commute dry, you will one of

:06:50. > :06:53.the few. Heavy bursts around. So expect surface water and spray on

:06:54. > :06:59.faster routes if you are travelling in by car. The winds are a feature

:07:00. > :07:05.in the south. After a dry start for the early rises, for southern

:07:06. > :07:10.Scotland and east of northern, rain will spread in. Many western areas

:07:11. > :07:11.will stay dry as will the north
