:01:28. > :01:30.board that runs the port. Btt the Government has stopped short of
:01:31. > :01:33.creating a so`called "Peopld's Port" entirely run by the local community
:01:34. > :01:37.and some have questioned whdther it really is the best plan to guarantee
:01:38. > :01:44.jobs and investment in the `rea for generations to come. Simon Jones has
:01:45. > :01:53.the details. Betty who lives overlooking the
:01:54. > :01:57.port. She says it has given little back to the residents of thd town.
:01:58. > :02:03.I have had all sorts of argtments with them and it seems they just get
:02:04. > :02:10.on with they want to do for themselves and blow the rest of us.
:02:11. > :02:14.Today, this man said he wanted to bridge the gap between the people
:02:15. > :02:17.and the port. There will be seats on the board for those who livd in the
:02:18. > :02:24.town and community funds to kick`start regeneration.
:02:25. > :02:33.This is a win`win for everyone. You get the community much more heavily
:02:34. > :02:35.involved. The port its self has championed privatisation to fund
:02:36. > :02:42.future development. An MP or forward an alternative
:02:43. > :02:46.People's Port run by the people for the people. Today, the government
:02:47. > :02:54.came up with a compromise it calls a catalyst for regeneration.
:02:55. > :02:59.The government plans to sell our port of two the French or whoever so
:03:00. > :03:04.we said we would buy it. I think there is trust growhng
:03:05. > :03:11.between the two parties and this is the start of a major opporttnity.
:03:12. > :03:19.This family have had a shop in the town since 1945.
:03:20. > :03:25.Anything that comes from thd harbour to the town and vice versa hs good.
:03:26. > :03:28.There is plans for a new cargo terminal to create hundreds of jobs.
:03:29. > :03:35.This man has worked there for 1 years and is a union ret.

:04:08. > :04:13.donate a percentage of its pre`tax profits to set up a community fund
:04:14. > :04:16.and to add to that year aftdr year. Today's announcement allows both
:04:17. > :04:28.sides to claim victory. The port bosses keep their jobs but the
:04:29. > :04:30.people get a bigger say. Both sides now have two work together `nd
:04:31. > :04:34.quickly. Detectives are hunting two people
:04:35. > :04:37.who attacked a man with acid at his home in West Sussex. The victim
:04:38. > :04:41.who's been named locally as Jack Grimshaw, was taken to hosphtal with
:04:42. > :04:45.injuries to his face and hands after the attack last night in Cr`wley.
:04:46. > :04:54.Piers Hopkirk is live there for us. This has shocked people livhng
:04:55. > :05:00.there, hasn't it, Piers? Indeed. This is a crime as rare as
:05:01. > :05:03.it is shocking. A crime that perhaps we would normally associate with the
:05:04. > :05:11.developing world rather than a leafy housing estate here in Sussdx.
:05:12. > :05:15.Detectives carrying out house`to`house enquiries ard looking
:05:16. > :05:22.for answers to an attack whhch stunned neighbours. It is shocking.
:05:23. > :05:27.There are young kids that go out and play. It is dark red here at night
:05:28. > :05:33.as it is and to see that happening is disgusting.
:05:34. > :05:39.I was wondering if it was a attack or something to do with drugs and if
:05:40. > :05:43.it would happen to us. Just happening around the corner
:05:44. > :05:49.with families about. It is believed the attackers lay in
:05:50. > :05:55.wait in a car, they had in dffect set an ambitious. Around 1120 last
:05:56. > :06:00.night, as their victim returned they came round the corner `nd
:06:01. > :06:05.doused him in acid. One man was elected to the victim's schdmes and
:06:06. > :06:13.ran over to give first aid. He describes seeing the man's phase as
:06:14. > :06:19.blistering in front of his dyes and smelling a corrosive smell.
:06:20. > :06:27.Lots of people were getting water for the victim. I believe there was
:06:28. > :06:31.an off duty fireman who was coordinating assistance to the
:06:32. > :06:36.victim in terms of water behng passed to him and been pourdd over
:06:37. > :06:41.his face. What is your reaction to thhs?
:06:42. > :06:46.This crime is horrible. Not something we are used to he`r. It
:06:47. > :06:49.goes against the grain of what this town is about.
:06:50. > :06:53.The victim has been named as Jack Grimshaw. Police are appealhng for
:06:54. > :07:02.witnesses. Specifically, police say thdy want
:07:03. > :07:09.to track down two black men wearing high visibility jackets. Witnesses
:07:10. > :07:18.have described them fleeing here at some speed and a white Astr` van.

:07:47. > :07:49.69`year`old Harjit Chaggar. She d been missing for 12 days whdn her
:07:50. > :07:57.body was found in the basemdnt of the Sani Globe grocery stord in
:07:58. > :08:04.Chatham in September. Harjit Chaggar's body was found in the
:08:05. > :08:08.basement of Sani Globe. Her injuries were similar to that of a sdrious
:08:09. > :08:17.road collision. The defendant described the moment he found Harjit
:08:18. > :08:20.Chaggar's body. After he and another defendant went to investigate a
:08:21. > :08:23.horrible smell in the shop. On the first day of defence, the QC asked
:08:24. > :09:06.what did you say? Two brothers from Maidstone and
:09:07. > :09:12.Mohammed Islam deny murder. They are also charged with preventing lawful
:09:13. > :09:16.burial. All four deny the charges. The Environment Agency is estimating

:09:20. > :09:24.of Yalding and improved protection for the Tonbridge area. Possible
