:00:52. > :00:56.and they said, there is a house on fire. We came out and had a look. We

:00:57. > :01:01.could see smoke coming out the window. The fire brigade cale and

:01:02. > :01:04.kicked the door down. It was contained in the kitchen I think

:01:05. > :01:09.that I don't know much more. There were police out here. We went

:01:10. > :01:12.allowed to close. One woman and three children were taken to

:01:51. > :01:52.car crashed and Kent Police are appealing for witnesses.

:01:53. > :01:56.The energy firm Cuadrilla could carry out further exploration for

:01:57. > :01:58.oil and gas in Balcombe, if the County Council approves new plans.

:01:59. > :02:01.Last summer saw weeks of protests against the company's decishon to

:02:02. > :02:04.test`drill for oil in the vhllage, but planning consent has since

:02:05. > :02:13.expired. West Sussex County Council will look at the new recommdnded

:02:14. > :02:16.proposals later this month. Several homes were flooded today

:02:17. > :02:20.after a water main burst in Crawley. 15 properties were affected when the

:02:21. > :02:23.mains burst on Scory Close hn Bewbush. Fire, police and the

:02:24. > :02:28.council were all at the scene. The pipe has been repaired and the water

:02:29. > :02:31.has now receded. The former Kent MP Jonathan Aitkin,

:02:32. > :02:34.who was jailed in 1999 for perverting the course of justice,

:02:35. > :02:38.says prisoners need mentors to bring down re`offending rates. In a new

:02:39. > :02:41.report, Aitkin, who used to be the MP for South Thanet, says the prison

:02:42. > :02:44.service needs to recruit a network of 15,000 mentors to help offenders.

:02:45. > :02:52.The Government has admitted that re`offending rates have bardly

:02:53. > :02:55.changed in a decade. Figures obtained by the BBC show

:02:56. > :02:57.that hospital patients in Kdnt are missing nearly one in ten

:02:58. > :03:03.appointments. 150,000 patients failed to show up at health trusts

:03:04. > :03:06.in the county last year. Experts have calculated the cost of each

:03:07. > :03:17.missed appointment is ?100, costing the NHS ?1 billion a year.

:03:18. > :03:21.The husband of a Kent woman who died in a boating tragedy in Brazil has

:03:22. > :03:24.returned to the country to campaign for justice. Gillian Metcalf from

:03:25. > :03:28.Tenterden was killed when two boats collided on a tributary of the

:03:29. > :03:36.Amazon river last September. Jon Hunt reports.

:03:37. > :03:41.It's the first time Mr Metc`lfe has been back to the country since his

:03:42. > :03:46.wife died. Gillian, a lawyer, was killed when two boats collided on

:03:47. > :03:51.the river. More than six months on, the family is concerned no one will

:03:52. > :03:58.ever be prosecuted. It is vdry frustrating to sit here and not be

:03:59. > :04:02.able to do anything. We just felt we were doing something for her by

:04:03. > :04:10.getting there, we were trying to push to get some justice. Brazilian

:04:11. > :04:14.TV and newspapers picked up on the story and aired their concerns about

:04:15. > :04:19.the time prosecutions were taking. It seems to us they do not really

:04:20. > :04:23.care that much. I don't likd the idea of our boat drivers continuing

:04:24. > :04:28.to be on the river because ht could happen again to anyone else. They

:04:29. > :04:31.were both very irresponsibld. The family say that returning fdlt right

:04:32. > :04:38.and they were able to reflect on the happiness they had shared bdfore the

:04:39. > :04:43.travelling. We were happy btnch and that is some consolation. It was

:04:44. > :04:49.quick and we were together `nd we were happy. Mr Metcalfe hopds his

:04:50. > :04:54.visit will prompt prosecutors to bring the case to court.

:04:55. > :04:55.Well, there may have been a few indoor Easter egg hunts tod`y. Let's

:04:56. > :05:07.get a check on the weather. With the rain clearing to the north

:05:08. > :05:12.we can expected to be a mostly dry night with quite a lot of cloud at

:05:13. > :05:18.times. It will be a fairly lild night as well, temperatures down to

:05:19. > :05:22.seven or eight Celsius. For bank holiday Monday, expect quitd a nice

:05:23. > :05:25.dead. There will be a lot of low cloud to start the day but that

:05:26. > :05:30.should break throughout the morning to give decent spells of brhghtness

:05:31. > :05:33.and eventually some sunshind as well. The air is mild and

:05:34. > :05:38.temperatures rise accordingly, all the way up to 17 Celsius perhaps for

:05:39. > :05:43.some spots, which is 63 in Fahrenheit. But watch out for some

:05:44. > :05:50.heavy, thundery showers as we head into the afternoon. More April

:05:51. > :05:54.showers on the way for the rest of the week. Some good spells of

:05:55. > :06:06.sunshine and staying fairly mild throughout. That's all from us.

:06:07. > :06:13.Hello. Well, it was another lovely sunny day across the north of the

:06:14. > :06:15.UK. What a difference over the south. The rain set in for the

:06:16. > :06:19.course of the afternoon. There's more of that to come. It has been

:06:20. > :06:20.getting heavy across southern
