:00:08. > :00:10.I'm Polly Evans and I'm Rob Smith. Murdered by her estranged htsband,

:00:11. > :00:14.but Kent Police missed "a ntmber of opportunities to take more `ssertive

:00:15. > :00:19.action to protect" Natalie Dsack. There were times where we could have

:00:20. > :00:25.responded differently. The government gives permission

:00:26. > :00:28.for 175 wind turbines to be built We'll have the details live with

:00:45. > :00:46.complete with gas masks. How an orphaned monkey becale

:00:47. > :01:03.attached to her keeper's puppies. Good evening. Kent Police mhssed a

:01:04. > :01:06.series of opportunities to protect a domestic violence victim before she

:01:07. > :01:11.was murdered by her estrangdd husband. That's the conclushon of a

:01:12. > :01:13.highly critical report into the death of Ashford hairdresser Natalie

:01:14. > :01:17.Esack, who was fatally stabbed by Ivan Esack at her salon two years

:01:18. > :01:23.ago. She'd contacted the police approached her with a knife just

:01:24. > :01:29.weeks before her death, but the report says officers failed to take

:01:30. > :01:41.assertive action. Peter Whittlesea This is an Ivan Esack being

:01:42. > :01:47.questioned by police for telling Natalie Esack. He claims, she pushed

:01:48. > :01:57.him into it. The first words she said to be get out. Or words to that

:01:58. > :02:03.effect. Snapped, completely lost it. The jury never believed him, finding

:02:04. > :02:08.him guilty of murder. Today, a report into the case found that

:02:09. > :02:15.Natalie Esack was subjected to years of domestic abuse. Ivan Esack walked

:02:16. > :02:21.into a supermarket, what a knife and stabbed her 11 times. Is thhs a

:02:22. > :02:26.catalogue of mistakes over three years which could have made a

:02:27. > :02:31.difference? No, I don't view it like that. There were missed

:02:32. > :02:34.opportunities, that is the correct expression.

:02:35. > :02:36.There were times where we could have responded differently, that might

:02:37. > :02:39.have had a different outcomd, but importantly, as the author of the

:02:40. > :02:42.report concludes, this was ` man who had a clearly cold, premeditated

:02:43. > :02:57.Police were told that he evdn threatened to kill Natalie six

:02:58. > :03:13.months before the murder. Natalie Esack was fatally stabbed by

:03:14. > :03:19.Ivan Esack two years ago. Today s report found she had contacted

:03:20. > :03:28.police five times. But failtre to collate the reports meant hdr case

:03:29. > :03:32.was not classified as high risk The problem is that for each individual

:03:33. > :03:35.police force, there may be only a small number of killings, btt across

:03:36. > :03:41.the country, we are looking at an average of 200 women a week been

:03:42. > :03:45.killed. We need to look at the complex issue of domestic vholence.

:03:46. > :03:56.A sentiment that Natalie's father highlighted in the report.

:03:57. > :03:59.Peter joins us from Ashford, where Natalie Esack was murdered.

:04:00. > :04:01.Peter, this report also criticises communication failures

:04:02. > :04:10.between the police and health professionals, doesn't it?

:04:11. > :04:16.That is right. But relates to when somebody is sectioned under the

:04:17. > :04:20.Mental Health Act. Now they are saying that police should rdport it

:04:21. > :04:26.separately when it relates to domestic abuse. In the report,

:04:27. > :04:31.Natalie's father said that the inaction of the police, had a

:04:32. > :04:35.bearing on actions. He also said despite that, no agency was solely

:04:36. > :04:39.responsible for his daughter's death. Kent Police said thex had the

:04:40. > :04:44.recommendations of that report a year ago. They also say that they

:04:45. > :04:51.have lamented recommendations for change. `` implemented.

:05:01. > :05:02.capable of producing enough electricity for 450,000 homds.

:05:03. > :05:05.It'll be located 8 miles off Sussex, off the coast between Shoreham to

:05:06. > :05:19.Wind is an essential part of our energy mix in the UK. Espechally in

:05:20. > :05:25.the UK, we have abundant resources in that area and large coastline. It

:05:26. > :05:27.is a proven technology, of course offshore, we can build it in a much

:05:28. > :05:31.larger scale. So what economic benefits could

:05:32. > :05:33.the windfarm provide? Well ministers claim it will support

:05:34. > :05:35.over 750 jobs, and bring in ?2 billion worth

:05:36. > :05:38.of investment to the UK economy They estimate power generathon could

:05:39. > :05:40.start by 2019, helping to meet the Governmdnt's

:05:41. > :05:51.renewable energy targets. It will be good news for consumers,

:05:52. > :05:56.wind energy is coming down hn price. It all the goodies for the

:05:57. > :05:59.environment, we will not crdate more carbon emissions, it will also be

:06:30. > :06:33.that has been a social medi` campaign against the wind f`rm.

:06:34. > :06:40.People say it will be ugly, costly, a hazard to wildlife. Critics of

:06:41. > :06:44.these big wind farm schemes say they are also well, but when the wind

:06:45. > :06:49.stops blowing, there needs to be a back`up. They also say that they are

:06:50. > :06:54.heavily subsidised and that is reflected in their energy bhlls A

:06:55. > :06:59.lot jobs will be created, btt a lot of them will be abroad. There are no

:07:00. > :07:05.bigger wind turbine manufacturers in the UK. They will all be imported.

:07:06. > :07:07.The energy company E`ON is still to make a final investment dechsion

:07:08. > :07:09.on the project, and has to apply for subsidhes,

:07:53. > :08:01.Juliette, what did councillors say in support of these plans?

:08:02. > :08:08.This listed building has a really divided opinion here. Not only among

:08:09. > :08:12.local residents, but also whthin the Council. Some expressed concern

:08:13. > :08:17.today about it being left any longer to fall into disrepair. One said I

:08:18. > :08:23.will vote for this, I don't want to see another West Pier. With no other

:08:24. > :08:27.viable option being put forward it seemed it was a will to savd this

:08:28. > :08:32.building, that drove the decision in favour. Entertainment has always

:08:33. > :08:37.been at the heart of this btilding. But nobody is laughing at the

:18:52. > :18:54.by allergies to foods like peanuts and dairy products, as well as

:18:55. > :19:09.Today her mum describes Daisy Ames as a healthy, happy girl. Btt four

:19:10. > :19:13.weeks after she was born, she was covered in Exmouth. For the next six

:19:14. > :19:18.years, she stopped growing, was plagued by infected sores and

:19:19. > :19:24.rashes, and was stopped frol playing at school with her three brothers.

:19:25. > :19:29.It was distressing seeing hdr so uncomfortable, she was unable to

:19:30. > :19:32.sleep at night. When she was very little, she used to sit on the

:19:33. > :19:39.carpet and rob her legs bec`use they were so itchy. She was constantly on

:19:40. > :19:44.comfortable `` uncomfortabld and not a happy child. The family tried many

:19:45. > :19:53.different treatments, but nothing worked. My arms used to get really

:19:54. > :19:58.itchy. And my legs as well. They got really sore. Things got even worse

:19:59. > :20:02.when her eyes, tongue and lhps started swelling and her face became

:20:03. > :20:09.covered in blisters. We think she got something in her eye and she was

:20:10. > :20:12.scratching. It could be that she touched cats. Eventually thd family

:20:13. > :20:16.met a specialist from an allergy clinic in Saint Mary 's Hospital.

:20:17. > :20:20.Blood and skin tests revealdd a long list of food and environmental

:20:21. > :20:26.allergies, and a treatment `nd lifestyle plan was drawn up. It s

:20:27. > :20:30.not uncommon to be allergic to foods and it is easy to underestilate the

:20:31. > :20:35.impact on their life becausd food is there day in, day out, many of our

:20:36. > :20:39.positive experiences in lifd involve sharing food with people whhch is

:20:40. > :20:43.not labelled, and that presdnts a stressful scenario for people with

:20:44. > :20:46.food allergies and their carers Sometimes I go to a friend's house

:20:47. > :20:52.and they haven't got the labels because they have bought it and it

:20:53. > :20:57.has stuff I am not allowed. I don't tend to eat it. This evening, Daisy

:22:04. > :22:07.Richmond for her, really. She is named after a town in Nigerha where

:22:08. > :22:12.drill monkeys originate and where deforestation means only 3000 remain

:22:13. > :22:16.in the wild. They are critically endangered, only about 45 ldft in

:22:17. > :22:22.captivity across Europe and America, so they are an incredibly ilportant

:22:28. > :22:30.had to hand rear Mubi after her mother began attacking her, but it

:22:35. > :22:37.to work, Mubi comes with hil and she can see her parents through the
