:00:07. > :00:17.Welcome to South East today. Abraham at Westminster.

:00:18. > :00:21.Welcome to South East today. Abraham Camaro wanted to be a jihadh. School

:00:22. > :00:27.friend and Sussex say they `re shocked. I can't believe he was in

:00:28. > :00:32.our classes that we chatted to him. I can't believe he went there.

:00:33. > :00:35.Police say they are determined to prevent a lorry driver protdst from

:00:36. > :00:40.closing the Port of Dover tomorrow. We are like in Dover with the

:00:41. > :00:48.latest. Also, Nigel Farage herald the most exciting days in UKIP's

:00:49. > :00:53.history as he set out plans to win Westminster seats, at a party

:00:54. > :00:58.conference. First World War relics have survived Markman. Now they are

:00:59. > :01:05.returned to a church in Belgium My mum always used to say to md... She

:01:06. > :01:09.is foreign. She is not afrahd to laugh or race, religion or politics.

:01:10. > :01:21.We will speak live to Shapph Khorsandi in Folkestone.

:01:22. > :01:26.A friend of Ibrahim Kamara, who's believed to have been killed

:01:27. > :01:28.by US airstrikes in Syria, says the Brighton teenager

:01:29. > :01:33.Amer Deghayes, from nearby Saltdean, who is also fighting in Syrha

:01:34. > :01:36.and whose own brother has bden killed there, says Ibrahim Kamara's

:01:37. > :01:39.family would not be upset at his death if they truly

:01:40. > :01:49.Our news correspondent, Yvette Austin, reports.

:01:50. > :01:56.It's becoming clear that Ibrahim Kamara was radicalised before

:01:57. > :02:01.leaving for in February. In an interview, friend and fellow fighter

:02:02. > :02:05.tells how his intentions appear to be that he wanted to die for his

:02:06. > :02:13.cause. Ibrahim Kamara has always been a person who really wanted it.

:02:14. > :02:18.His family don't understand, it it's because they don't have the

:02:19. > :02:26.knowledge of the virtues of jihad and the sacrifice that is m`de.

:02:27. > :02:31.Posts on Ibrahim Kamara's own site had tendencies towards

:02:32. > :02:35.radicalisation. He was fighting with an affiliate of al`Qaeda ye`r in

:02:36. > :02:41.Syria, it hardest Association accused of atrocities against human

:02:42. > :02:51.rights. I have known him for six years. We used to go to the mosque.

:02:52. > :02:58.He was a normal Muslim lad. His duty towards the people that werd

:02:59. > :03:03.attacked because they were Luslims and the solution was jihad. Ibrahim

:03:04. > :03:06.Kamara's mother says she expected to die when she heard he was in Syria

:03:07. > :03:18.but believed he was encouraged to go. He has been radicalised. I

:03:19. > :03:22.believe that. It is not likd he was building up, it happened fast. That

:03:23. > :03:28.is why I don't know what is behind it. School and college friends had

:03:29. > :03:32.also noticed a marked changd. He used to say things like people

:03:33. > :03:36.should join a jihad, this is a way forward and this is what is going to

:03:37. > :03:41.happen. In years to come, you know, if you have not joined, this is what

:03:42. > :03:45.will happen to you. I think that was quite a shock to everyone bdcause he

:03:46. > :03:49.had not been like that before. Muslim leaders that is now time to

:03:50. > :03:54.engage disaffected young people to try to any attempt to radic`lise

:03:55. > :03:59.them. We have cut the relathonship with these extremists and rdgulator

:04:00. > :04:06.people who are looking for `` radicalised people, who walked

:04:07. > :04:12.angry, talk angry and are e`sy prey in their hand. Give them a hope of a

:04:13. > :04:15.good life. The Foreign Office says they cannot confirm reports that

:04:16. > :04:19.three other British nationals died at the same time as Ibrahim Kamara.

:04:20. > :04:21.We're joined now by documentary maker Robb Ldech

:04:22. > :04:23.whose step`brother, Richard Dart, became a radical Islamist and has

:04:24. > :04:35.You made the recent film "My Brother The Terrorist" `s part

:04:36. > :04:37.of a journey towards understanding why your step`brother chose his

:04:38. > :04:42.Are you any closer to knowing why seemingly bright young len

:04:43. > :05:06.Well, I think it is really `bout vulnerability and

:05:07. > :05:09.disenfranchisement. There is an idea that people can't understand why

:05:10. > :05:16.normal, intelligent people `re radicalised. It is really about a

:05:17. > :05:22.feeling of not having a stake in society. Obviously, everyond has

:05:23. > :05:25.different life experiences `nd you can end up feeling like that for

:05:26. > :05:34.many different reasons. Essdntially that is the kind of thing that, I

:05:35. > :05:40.think, makes improbable. It is a feeling `` vulnerable. It is a

:05:41. > :05:47.feeling of not having a purpose in life. You met a number of pdople who

:05:48. > :05:55.have been through this procdss. What was striking about the friends of

:05:56. > :05:59.Ibrahim Kamara were saying hs that one minute he was a normal xoung

:06:00. > :06:03.man, the next minute he wants to join the jihad. It seemed to be an

:06:04. > :06:19.extreme swing. Yet, it can happen very quickly. It can happen slowly.

:06:20. > :06:26.I think once you feel empowdred and, you know, you take on radic`l

:06:27. > :06:34.ideology, it can really takd over your life. You can break tids with

:06:35. > :06:40.Western society, your familx, friends, and it does completely take

:06:41. > :06:45.over your life very quickly, like a transformation. Thank you.

:06:46. > :06:47.Kent Police say they're detdrmined to prevent any trouble tomorrow

:06:48. > :06:50.if a planned blockade of thd Port of Dover goes ahead.

:06:51. > :06:52.A group of lorry drivers are planning to

:06:53. > :06:54.protest against the fines they face if illegal immigrants board

:06:55. > :06:58.their vehicles in Calais and smuggle themselves into Kent.

:06:59. > :07:01.But their actions are being condemned by other hauliers,

:07:02. > :07:03.amid claims the protest has been hijacked by right`wing extrdmists.

:07:04. > :07:12.Chrissie Reidy joins us livd from Dover.

:07:13. > :07:24.Do we have any idea how manx people are expected? If you go on the

:07:25. > :07:29.Facebook page of the campaign it claims that 400 protesters will

:07:30. > :07:34.descend on the Port of Dover. Interestingly, the truck drhvers I

:07:35. > :07:44.have spoken to you, many didn't know it was planned at all. It could be a

:07:45. > :07:47.few hundred,. These are pictures of migrants desperate to get across the

:07:48. > :07:51.Channel and they have becomd a familiar sight. This truck driver

:07:52. > :07:56.knows all too well what it hs like to be ambushed in his cab. H got

:07:57. > :08:02.approached by a gang wanting to know where I was going. I said no, leave

:08:03. > :08:08.me alone. They demanded to know where I was going. While he fears

:08:09. > :08:12.the safety, he doesn't support what could be an illegal blockadd at the

:08:13. > :08:20.Port of Dover tomorrow. It hs very political and I don't believe that

:08:21. > :08:26.the best interests are at hdart The protest against the ?2000 fhne

:08:27. > :08:28.imposed on stowaways has bedn organised through Facebook by the

:08:29. > :08:33.group supporting the truckers from Calais to Dover. Their video

:08:34. > :08:42.indicate links with far right extremists. Far right peopld could

:08:43. > :08:49.be racist, this is solely for the truckers safety. Good idea. It is

:08:50. > :08:53.time someone does something about it. Some say a blockade of `ny kind

:08:54. > :08:57.will do more harm than good. What we really need to see the big push with

:08:58. > :09:03.Britain and France leading the way to make sure that this dreadful

:09:04. > :09:08.situation is improving and that Brussels take responsibilitx. At the

:09:09. > :09:12.moment it simply is not working Kent Police welcome a peaceful

:09:13. > :09:19.protest but are prepared for every eventuality. We will take account of

:09:20. > :09:23.people's different views. Otr key message for those seeking is talk to

:09:24. > :09:27.us, engage with us, share whth us your planned and we will be there to

:09:28. > :09:31.enable them to peacefully protest but also to make sure that the

:09:32. > :09:34.people at the Port of Dover and local residents are not

:09:35. > :09:41.inconvenienced by the day's activities. It is expected to get

:09:42. > :09:45.underway at 1pm. Kent Policd would not say how many officers they to

:09:46. > :09:50.deploy here tomorrow. They do want to stress it is an offence to block

:09:51. > :09:53.the highway and those that xou risk having their lorries taking away.

:09:54. > :09:55.In a moment, two Sussex polhce officers are suspended

:09:56. > :10:06.and investigated over the w`y they handled an aggravated burgl`ry.

:10:07. > :10:11.The UKIP leader and South E`st MEP, Nigel Farage, has given a kdynote

:10:12. > :10:13.speech at his party conference this afternoon, promising delegates that

:10:14. > :10:16.the "most exciting phase" in their history is about to begin.

:10:17. > :10:19.He's hoping to win the Kent seat of Thanet South

:10:20. > :10:24.from the Conservatives in order to become an MP at next year's

:10:25. > :10:26.General Election, but says his party's increasingly winning votes

:10:27. > :10:41.The Labour Party state if you vote UKIP you will get Conservathve. The

:10:42. > :10:45.message that need to leave this conference is that actually, in our

:10:46. > :10:51.target seat next year, in by`elections and in general

:10:52. > :10:58.elections, if you vote UKIP, you will get UKIP. APPLAUSE

:10:59. > :11:01.Our political editor joins ts live from the conference in Donc`ster.

:11:02. > :11:03.Louise, this is a significant milestone in Nigel Farage's campaign

:11:04. > :11:22.It is. It could be seen as ` political amble taking it to the

:11:23. > :11:28.course `` amble taking it to the racecourse in Doncaster. It is Ed

:11:29. > :11:36.Miliband's backyard. His message is that he wants to put his UKHP tax on

:11:37. > :11:42.Labour's lawns. He says that UKIP can appeal to lay back and Tory

:11:43. > :11:49.voters up and down the country. `` Labour voters. He knows what we need

:11:50. > :11:55.as a country, as students, the elderly, he knows what everxbody

:11:56. > :12:02.needs. The trouble is UKIP tell a lot of lies, but others don't

:12:03. > :12:06.change. We are letting a lot of immigrants in. Fair enough hf people

:12:07. > :12:10.want to come here and live here but it is England so we should not have

:12:11. > :12:14.to live by their rules, thex should have to live by our rules and I like

:12:15. > :12:22.the fact he's agreeing with living by our rules. So you are in

:12:23. > :12:28.Ramsgate, where Nigel Faragd is planning to stand. In terms of

:12:29. > :12:32.policy, he spoke about the NHS, and lowering taxes. They also t`lked

:12:33. > :12:38.about the traditional UKIP hssue of immigration. That is right, Polly.

:12:39. > :12:44.He said that is one of the key issues head of the next Gendral

:12:45. > :12:49.Election. He has described ht as written's state. There was ` huge

:12:50. > :12:53.cheer in the hall when he s`id he would change that and take back

:12:54. > :12:57.control of the Borders. He had a bit of respite with David Cameron for

:12:58. > :13:06.holding the vote today over Isis bombings. On that vote, he was

:13:07. > :13:14.overwhelmingly in favour, 500/4 , to take part in bombings in Ir`q. One

:13:15. > :13:18.person who did not buy `` b`ck it said he didn't because last year

:13:19. > :13:22.they voted to bomb the other side and said, what good did that do

:13:23. > :13:25.Inspectors say some inmates are too scared to come out of their cells

:13:26. > :13:28.at Swaleside Prison on the Hsle of Sheppey after a number of sdrious

:13:29. > :13:32.In an unannounced visit in @pril, they found that staff short`ges

:13:33. > :13:35.were causing prisoners to spend too much time in their cells and also

:13:36. > :13:41.Managers say they are recruiting more staff.

:13:42. > :13:44.Green campaigners have attacked the Government

:13:45. > :13:47.for pushing ahead with moves to allow fracking under people's homes

:13:48. > :13:51.Ministers are refusing to scrap proposals to simplify underground

:13:52. > :13:56.access for oil and gas developers, despite objections from 99% of those

:13:57. > :14:04.It follows clashes between police and anti`fracking

:14:05. > :14:07.protesters in the West Sussdx village of Balcombe last ye`r.

:14:08. > :14:09.Two Sussex police officers have been suspended from duty,

:14:10. > :14:12.while an investigation takes place into the way they handled a case

:14:13. > :14:17.The victim, 30`year`old Clare Cruttenden from

:14:18. > :14:20.St Leonards, was found coll`psed in a Brighton hotel two days later

:14:21. > :14:25.Juliette Parkin joins us live outside Brighton Police Station

:14:26. > :14:33.Juliette, what more do we know about what happened?

:14:34. > :14:42.We understand that to Sussex Police officers visited Claire at her home

:14:43. > :14:47.in St Leonards on the 17th of February this year, respondhng to

:14:48. > :14:52.reports of an aggravated burglary following. Following day, she was

:14:53. > :14:57.reported as a high risk missing person by police in Hastings. On the

:14:58. > :15:03.19th of February, police were called to a hotel in Brighton after a woman

:15:31. > :15:35.response has given some indhcation of how serious this is. The Deputy

:15:36. > :15:39.Chief Constable of Sussex Police has visited her family at their home and

:15:40. > :15:45.personally apologised for the way she was treated by police. They have

:15:46. > :15:51.also given some indication of how the investigation was progrdssing.

:21:45. > :21:54.forward with my arms flailing and not really looking where I `m going.

:21:55. > :21:59.I am a single mum, as well. Can I be really honest with you? When I am

:22:00. > :22:08.touring, that precious couple of hours with him are the only time I
