:00:18. > :00:20.to change its rules on gay marriage, after finding love

:00:21. > :00:26.If you are homosexual, it is unnatural to keep denying it.

:01:30. > :01:31.It is the latest in a series of serious crimes carried out

:01:32. > :01:45.by Albanian criminals in Sussex, as Juliette Parkin reports.

:01:46. > :01:58.This was the moment the ringleader of the gang was caught by Sussex

:01:59. > :02:02.Police. You are under arrest for the supply of class a drugs. The police

:02:03. > :02:10.investigation had gone on for months, involving around 100

:02:11. > :02:21.officers. Steve you are! Stable you are! Eat of the more here illegally.

:02:22. > :02:30.They were jailed for the supply of class C drugs in Brighton and Hove.

:02:31. > :02:35.It is not only what they are doing it is the fact that the people we

:02:36. > :02:43.are supplying two are coming to claim to finance the drug habit.

:02:44. > :02:51.Many people may not realise what they are getting into, but the

:02:52. > :02:57.penalties have to be severe. It is not the first time men from Albania

:02:58. > :02:59.have been found guilty of serious claim in the region.

:03:00. > :03:02.Just last year, three Albanian men were jailed for kidnapping a drug

:03:03. > :03:06.CCTV footage showed the man being bundled into a car

:03:07. > :03:09.A few years earlier, Albanian father-of-two Xhem Krasniqi

:03:10. > :03:11.was shot dead in what police believe was a dispute between

:03:12. > :03:15.And in 2005, three Albanian men were given life sentences

:03:36. > :03:36.the fairly shocked. But the similarly report any suspicious

:03:37. > :03:53.activity the better. Albania would be the country which

:03:54. > :03:58.has been drawn to my attention. Many Albanians are engaged in criminal

:04:11. > :04:13.and she is live in Brighton. Juliette, this was a gang that

:04:14. > :04:24.operated right across the city? This was the area. The police say

:04:25. > :04:31.they were driving about a nice colours, smartly dressed. This gang

:04:32. > :04:38.were caught in a police operation pleased by the judge. It was a

:04:39. > :04:43.police operation which seized cash, cocaine and vehicles worth hundreds

:04:54. > :04:55.Throughout his career as a parish priest, he remained celibate

:04:56. > :04:59.But now, at the age of 78, the Reverend Phillip Clements says

:05:00. > :05:02.he has finally found love with a Romanian male model,

:05:03. > :05:05.who is 54 years his junior. They are getting married next month.

:05:06. > :05:07.And Mr Clements, from Eastry near Sandwich, says it is time

:05:08. > :05:10.for the Church of England to change its policy

:05:11. > :05:11.on same-sex marriage, so gay clergymen can

:05:12. > :05:16.He has spoken exclusively to our reporter Peter Whittlesea.

:05:17. > :05:23.Packing up and preparing to leave for a new life in Romania.

:05:24. > :05:24.My wardrobe is much simpler than this.

:05:25. > :05:31.Next month, Philip and Floren are getting married.

:05:32. > :05:33.But for decades, Philip says, as a parish priest, he

:05:34. > :05:36.repressed his feelings because of the Church of England's

:05:37. > :05:44.He is now calling on the church to allow gay clergy to get married.

:05:45. > :05:46.It is only when I retired from the full-time ministry

:05:47. > :05:50.that I decided that I had to be my true self.

:05:51. > :05:55.I think it is unnatural, if you are homosexual, to keep

:05:56. > :06:03.Do you believe you had to deny it in your

:06:04. > :06:14.As a full-time priest, I had to deny it.

:06:15. > :06:28.In February 2014, the Church of England decreed that clergy could

:06:29. > :06:35.not enter same-sex marriages. Civil partnerships are alone, but the

:06:36. > :06:46.couple must remain celibate. This priest is acting in deorbit defiance

:06:47. > :06:53.of that. He is seeking to defy the church that he had been part off for

:06:54. > :06:57.50 years. The couple see the relationship is about love. But the

:06:58. > :07:12.ever met that the age gap of over 50 years has surprised some. All my

:07:13. > :07:19.friends know that I am attracted to older people. Have people less way

:07:20. > :07:29.are you going out with someone much younger? Yes, many people asking me

:07:30. > :07:35.if I am doing the right thing. I came to the conclusion I must me,

:07:36. > :07:43.your mind. Animators will make the best of what I have got. He says he

:07:44. > :07:45.cannot wait to embark on married life.

:07:57. > :07:58.A doctor who decided that a mother-of-three from Dartford

:07:59. > :08:01.was well enough to leave hospital, even though she was asleep

:08:02. > :08:08.when he examined her, has told an inquest into her death

:08:09. > :08:11.that he now accepts she should not have been discharged.

:08:12. > :08:13.Sian Hollands, who was 25, died of a pulmonary embolism just

:08:14. > :08:15.hours later at the Darent Valley Hospital.

:08:16. > :08:37.Simon Jones reports from Gravesend Coroner's Court.

:08:38. > :08:40.The doctor at the inquest admitted that things could have been done

:08:41. > :08:41.differently. Words don't describe

:08:42. > :08:43.how let down I feel. I shouldn't be doing this

:08:44. > :08:47.interview with you today. My sister should be here

:08:48. > :08:49.with her children, doing something that a mother should do

:08:50. > :08:52.with her children, doing school runs and doing motherly things,

:08:53. > :08:55.and we are never going to get Sian Hollands was first seen

:08:56. > :08:59.by Dr Kamran Khan at around 10:50am She was a former heroin user,

:09:00. > :09:03.but had been taking methadone to come off the drug,

:09:04. > :09:05.but had stopped taking methadone The doctor initially

:09:06. > :09:08.thought her symptoms could be down He then saw her again at 3:30pm and,

:09:09. > :09:13.at that point, she was asleep. He decided not to wake her as she

:09:14. > :09:17.did not appear to be in distress and he decided she was well enough

:09:18. > :09:20.to leave hospital at that point. It was put to him at the inquest

:09:21. > :09:23.that staff at the hospital had simply dismissed

:09:24. > :09:25.Sian Hollands as a drug user and had not considered other

:09:26. > :09:27.possibilities for her pain. He accepted that may

:09:28. > :09:41.have been the case. My daughter was not a drug addict.

:09:42. > :09:46.She was a recovering drug addict. The condemned her. Tidal wave moving

:09:47. > :09:54.forward. We heard at the inquest that, at 2pm

:09:55. > :09:57.on the day she died, Sian Hollands had been given by a nurse a patient

:09:58. > :10:01.at risk score of five, which But Dr Kamran Khan said he had not

:10:02. > :10:05.noticed that in the notes. But he also said he had not been

:10:06. > :10:08.told by other staff that she had been complaining of pain

:10:09. > :10:11.in her chest and, had that happened, he would have considered

:10:12. > :10:13.a pulmonary embolism. We also learnt today that the doctor

:10:14. > :10:15.is under investigation by Simon joins us from Gravesend,

:10:16. > :10:20.where the inquest is taking place. Simon, vital evidence in this

:10:21. > :10:31.case has gone missing? She was given a test which measures

:10:32. > :10:35.the state of the heart. The firm ICA this would show more than anything

:10:36. > :10:43.if she was suffering from any sort of abnormality. But apparently, the

:10:44. > :10:52.test result cannot be found. There was also a failure of communication.

:10:53. > :10:53.He said that might have changed what he did.

:10:54. > :10:56.A Kent property tycoon who has tried to ban ethnic minority tenants

:10:57. > :10:59.from renting his homes has insisted that he is not racist,

:11:00. > :11:01.but is now facing the prospect of legal action.

:11:02. > :11:04.Fergus Wilson, who has hundreds of properties in the county,

:11:05. > :11:06.wrote to a lettings agency listing his requirements

:11:07. > :11:08.for potential tenants and asked for "no coloured people,

:11:09. > :11:10.because of the curry smell at the end of the tenancy."

:11:11. > :11:13.He says it is an economic decision, based on cleaning costs.

:11:14. > :11:16.But the anti-racism campaign group Hope Not Hate says his comments

:11:17. > :11:17.are "utterly despicable" and the Equality and

:11:18. > :11:23.Human Rights Commission is planning to investigate.

:11:24. > :11:26.The first fixed average speed cameras in Sussex have

:11:27. > :11:29.The cameras scan car number plates at two locations

:11:30. > :11:31.and calculate the average time to travel between them.

:11:32. > :11:33.The aim is to cut speeding and reduce congestion.

:11:34. > :11:43.More will be activated in Hastings in May.

:11:44. > :11:46.There has been a worrying increase in the number of people

:11:47. > :11:48.being detained by Sussex Police under the Mental Health Act,

:11:49. > :11:51.according to a new report by the Chief Inspector of Prisons.

:11:52. > :11:53.It says limited access to hospital beds resulted in too many vulnerable

:11:54. > :11:58.NHS managers say they had to deal with an unusually high number

:11:59. > :12:19.last summer, there was a national issue of a lack of beds. We needed

:12:20. > :12:25.to move people into a beard and we just experience such pressure and

:12:26. > :12:29.did begin to use police custody instead. But that has gone right

:12:30. > :12:30.back down. Our Health Correspondent Mark Norman

:12:31. > :12:33.joins us live from Sussex Police Mark, this report follows

:12:34. > :12:48.an inspection of police That is correct. This has been a

:12:49. > :12:56.great success in terms of the amount of numbers been brought down, from

:12:57. > :13:00.800 to 150. There has been a strict scheme. Mental health nurses have

:13:01. > :13:07.been in control to try and bring the number stone. But there has been a

:13:08. > :13:15.huge spake in the number of people in custody suites. They were

:13:16. > :13:19.concerned that ligature points in the police cells had not been

:13:20. > :13:26.removed. We were concerned about that. We frequently get contacted

:13:27. > :13:33.seeing people have been be contained in a sale. It is very frightening.

:13:34. > :13:37.They should not be punished because they have the mental illness. They

:13:38. > :13:45.are being treated like criminals. They cannot have any contact on the

:13:46. > :13:49.mobile phone. Many are feeling very lost or Elaine needed. There's a lot

:13:50. > :13:53.of shooting, maybe from other people within the police cells. -- show

:13:54. > :13:56.team. So, Mark, what is the current

:13:57. > :14:08.situation in Sussex now? It has changed dramatically from a

:14:09. > :14:10.number of 50, down to four or five. But they are looking to reduce the

:14:11. > :14:12.numbers even more. When Geoff Casely and his family

:14:13. > :14:14.bought a new-build house in Tunbridge Wells, they thought

:14:15. > :14:17.they had found their dream home. Instead, they've suffered

:14:18. > :14:19.15 months of problems, including floors which needed taking

:14:20. > :14:21.up, bad plumbing and floods. Most seriously, Geoff fell down

:14:22. > :14:23.the stairs and suffered He says the carpet had not

:14:24. > :14:26.been properly fitted. It has had a huge impact

:14:27. > :14:29.on his work and family life and he is now considering legal

:14:30. > :14:47.action, as Sara Smith reports. The company responsible has

:14:48. > :14:58.apologised. This has turned out to be the reality. This entire

:14:59. > :15:04.staircase is coming out. It is the latest in a catalogue of work which

:15:05. > :15:07.had to be sorted out. Including the staircase which she fell down,

:15:08. > :15:32.suffering a severe spinal injury. You cannot relax in this business.

:15:33. > :15:38.Even a week and we is difficult. Since the family moved them, they

:15:39. > :15:44.have had dozens of problems. Almost immediately, we have problems, with

:15:45. > :15:59.the cabling tracking. It badly fitted door. When you buy the likes

:16:00. > :16:03.of the car which is you you can return it if it is faulty. But when

:16:04. > :16:12.you get a house, you get the keys and that sort of the end of it. A

:16:13. > :16:16.spokesperson for Cala Homes C on this occasion they did not meet our

:16:17. > :16:25.own high standards. The CV have apologised to the family. The family

:16:26. > :16:30.will no need to move out for three weeks until the next stage of

:16:31. > :16:36.repairers can be repointed. -- completed.

:16:37. > :16:40.Nine members of an Albanian criminal gang have been jailed for a total

:16:41. > :16:43.of 45 years for their part in a conspiracy to

:16:44. > :16:45.supply Class A drugs across Brighton and Hove.

:16:46. > :16:47.Eight of the men were in the country illegally.

:16:48. > :16:49.Also in tonight's programme, he was a giant of the track

:16:50. > :17:01.Friends and family remember John Surtees at his funeral in Sussex.

:17:02. > :17:12.We have already seen above-average temperatures from this time of year.

:17:13. > :17:15.Tomorrow, Theresa May will give the European Union written

:17:16. > :17:17.notification that she is triggering Article 50, thus starting

:17:18. > :17:21.She has said that no deal with the EU will be

:17:22. > :17:25.But the EU's chief Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier says failure to reach

:17:26. > :17:27.a deal would "undoubtedly leave the UK worse off".

:17:28. > :17:29.He claims there would be "burdensome custom checks"

:17:30. > :17:47.and they would lead to long queues at the Port of Dover.

:17:48. > :17:57.We are looking at potentially an extra 300 million customs

:17:58. > :18:02.declarations each year. We need to make sure we have the seamless

:18:03. > :18:08.process. We need to a lowly enough time to make sure we are cleaning up

:18:09. > :18:10.the staff so that everything happens seamlessly and we do not suffer

:18:11. > :18:12.unnecessary delay. We are joined live from Westminster

:18:13. > :18:14.by the Conservative MP You campaigned for Britain to stay

:18:15. > :18:18.in the European Union during the referendum campaign last

:18:19. > :18:20.year and said your main reason for that was concern

:18:21. > :18:22.about the impact Brexit would So, with the formal two-year process

:18:23. > :18:26.to leave being triggered by the Prime Minister tomorrow,

:18:27. > :18:29.how worried are you now at what it could mean

:18:30. > :18:40.for your constituency? Obviously, the process starts

:18:41. > :18:49.tomorrow. In two years, we will be leaving the European Union. We hope

:18:50. > :18:50.that the deal can be made, but the visit is in, there could be

:18:51. > :18:51.problems. The Prime Minister says no deal

:18:52. > :18:54.is better than a bad deal, but no deal could mean customs

:18:55. > :18:57.checks and tariffs for all goods That would be a disaster,

:18:58. > :19:13.wouldn't it? This is what a raised with the Prime

:19:14. > :19:24.Minister about making sure that we have things delivered on schedule,

:19:25. > :19:26.such as the M25 lorry park. The A2 improvements.

:19:27. > :19:29.We have seen, all too many times, the chaos and gridlock

:19:30. > :19:31.caused throughout Kent when something happens to disrupt

:19:32. > :19:33.the free flow of freight traffic in and out of Dover.

:19:34. > :19:37.So what more needs to be done to ensure that the Port is ready

:19:38. > :19:49.for whatever the Brexit negotiations throw up two years from now?

:19:50. > :20:00.We know a lot about queueing. We had a lot of fun last summer. There is a

:20:01. > :20:07.risk that things could get complicated. That is why we need to

:20:08. > :20:12.address the infrastructure demands. We already do it for international

:20:13. > :20:21.trade. We need to be able to do a faster turnaround basis. The ports

:20:22. > :20:28.and the relevant authorities need to know where we stand.

:20:29. > :20:30.More than 1,000 people in Crawley have signed a petition

:20:31. > :20:33.calling for a local special needs teacher to be reinstated,

:20:34. > :20:36.after a dispute over his visa status led to him losing his job.

:20:37. > :20:38.Sam Mubokie is originally from Uganda, but he has been

:20:39. > :20:42.However, since going through a divorce this summer,

:20:43. > :20:46.he has been told he no longer has the right to work in the UK

:20:47. > :20:48.and could face being deported, even though he has three children

:20:49. > :20:51.who are all British citizens. Amanda Akass has more.

:20:52. > :21:07.Sam Mubokie Has built a life here in Sussex. He has three children and

:21:08. > :21:14.his wife is from Ireland. But when he got divorced, he could not think

:21:15. > :21:19.he would lose the job he wanted. I was flabbergasted. I have been

:21:20. > :21:30.working with the same people for five years. I will be caught? It

:21:31. > :21:35.takes a while for them to people. He is appealing the decision from the

:21:36. > :21:47.Home Office. I cannot leave my children. Who does that? I do not

:21:48. > :21:58.know. Liam has a severe form of autism. If you do not understand it,

:21:59. > :22:04.you can explain it. As parents, we want him back at the school. A

:22:05. > :22:10.petition has been started calling for the immigration service to look

:22:11. > :22:14.at his application again. I am devastated. The Home Office enters

:22:15. > :22:28.the statement. Though that has broken down, he has

:22:29. > :22:32.no basis on which to remain in the United Kingdom. They see that his

:22:33. > :22:43.new application is currently under consideration. The headteacher says

:22:44. > :22:46.Sam Mubokie is an excellent and dedicated professional and says he

:22:47. > :22:51.hopes we will be found for him to remain in the United Kingdom. Some

:22:52. > :22:57.supporters are funding legal advice way will he awaits the decision.

:22:58. > :23:00.Until then, without a job or passport, he is in limbo.

:23:01. > :23:03.He was a giant of the track and a giant personality.

:23:04. > :23:06.Just one of the many tributes paid to motorsport champion John Surtees,

:23:07. > :23:09.who has been remembered at his funeral in Sussex this afternoon.

:23:10. > :23:11.Sports stars joined family and friends at the service

:23:12. > :23:13.in Worth Abbey, near Crawley, to pay their respects

:23:14. > :23:15.to a unique talent, who is famously the only person

:23:16. > :23:18.to be both a motorbike and Formula One world champion.

:23:19. > :23:36.From across the world, the stars of motorsport came to Sussex to pay

:23:37. > :23:43.tribute to the racing hero and the Pioneer in the sport. He will never

:23:44. > :23:54.be forgotten. A fantastic champion. A credit to the sport and the

:23:55. > :24:07.gentleman. He made you laugh, he made you cry. John will never be

:24:08. > :24:16.forgotten. More than 300 gathered at the service. The motorbike and car

:24:17. > :24:25.laid out at the front in tribute to the man who dominated sport on two

:24:26. > :24:28.wheels and four. He won the World Championship for February and then

:24:29. > :24:30.won the world motorbike championship. No one will ever do

:24:31. > :24:50.that again. -- for Terry. Hot favourite pasta victories in

:24:51. > :24:59.1958 and 1959. John Surtees Was a man with petrol in his blood. He won

:25:00. > :25:09.the 500 motorbike World Championship and in time to Formula One. Even in

:25:10. > :25:18.later life, he never lost his love of the sport. When we were running
