:00:42. > :00:43.For 11 years, Joan worked as a carer here,

:00:44. > :00:49.but in 2013, what should have been a straightforward task,

:00:50. > :00:52.moving a weighing chair from one floor to another, cost her life.

:00:53. > :00:54.She became trapped in the old-fashioned lift at

:01:34. > :01:36.What this really highlights is that people have

:01:37. > :01:38.a responsibility not only for the people who use

:02:11. > :02:13.The care home's first reaction, he says, was to blame his mum

:02:14. > :02:18.Now at last they have accepted wrongdoing.

:02:19. > :02:20.We're now at just over three years where they have

:02:21. > :02:22.finally pleaded guilty, and I'm glad that we are near

:02:23. > :02:25.the end of the process, but nothing brings back my mum.

:02:26. > :02:27.They will be sentenced at Crown Court where

:02:28. > :02:30.they will be expecting hefty fine.

:03:13. > :03:14.This footage contains flashing images.

:03:15. > :03:17.Fire crews were called to the property in West Hill Road

:03:18. > :03:27.The cause of the blaze is currently being treated as unexplained.

:03:28. > :03:33.East Sussex Fire and rescue were already convincing. Unfortunately,

:03:34. > :03:38.when they went into the premises they found one deceased male,

:03:39. > :03:42.identity unknown at this stage. We are following up from there.

:03:43. > :03:47.Obviously there is a lot of forensic examination to go this time.

:03:48. > :03:50.Hundreds of drivers in the South East have been flouting

:03:51. > :03:52.the law by illegally using disabled parking permits - some even

:04:19. > :04:20.With identification badge on display,

:04:21. > :04:22.there is nothing secret about these investigation officers.

:04:23. > :04:25.They probably know more than you think.

:04:26. > :04:28.From the front of the badge, we can establish a bit of information.

:04:29. > :04:31.We can establish the sex of that badge-holder, and also the age.

:04:32. > :04:36.From that, we would also have a look within the vehicle, maybe look at

:04:37. > :04:39.seating positions, depending on whether it was a male or female,

:04:40. > :04:41.but we would also look for any signs of disability equipment,

:04:42. > :04:47.This car caught the inspector's eye this morning.

:04:48. > :04:49.The interior didn't suggest an elderly

:04:50. > :04:54.lady driver, but it turned out no offence had been committed.

:04:55. > :04:59.Some people are repeat offenders, though.

:05:00. > :05:01.This doctor was recently convicted in court for using his

:05:02. > :05:03.dead mother's badge, and as he left court,

:05:04. > :05:05.it turned out he had parked illegally for the court

:05:06. > :05:12.It is cases like that which have made the two local

:05:13. > :05:14.councils join Sussex Police to produce a video.

:05:15. > :05:17.I could be ill for days because somebody has not

:05:18. > :05:20.They can go five minutes away and walk

:05:21. > :05:23.The video now forms part of a training course

:05:24. > :05:26.offered as an alternative to a court appearance, a ?1000 fine and a

:05:27. > :05:32.On the streets today, full support from the blue

:05:33. > :05:38.I think it is the best thing, because there are so

:05:39. > :05:41.many people who are abusing them, and as soon as they get caught it

:05:42. > :05:43.gives people who need the space more chance.

:05:44. > :05:52.I have personally seen people going into Tesco and parking in the

:05:53. > :05:55.disabled bay, getting out of the car and then running into Tesco and I'm

:05:56. > :06:01.How difficult could it be for you if you can't

:06:02. > :06:07.Well, if I can't park, I have to go home.

:06:08. > :06:16.A high percentage are going to be family

:06:17. > :06:18.members, whether it is with the badge holder's

:06:19. > :06:22.We may find that people, either through ignorance or lack of

:06:23. > :06:25.education, are carrying out those errors and we're trying to that out.

:06:26. > :06:26.Hello, can I have a quick check please?

:06:27. > :06:29.Other councils and police forces, including Kent and Surrey,

:06:30. > :06:31.are now considering using the Sussex and Brighton scheme themselves.

:06:32. > :06:34.That's it from me, your national weather forecast in a moment,

:06:35. > :06:36.but first let's get the picture in the South East

:06:37. > :06:45.It is still looking quite wintry through the remainder of tonight and

:06:46. > :06:51.for the first part of the weekend as well. The Met office has issued a

:06:52. > :06:54.warning for snowfall across the rest of the region for tonight and

:06:55. > :07:00.tomorrow. Not all of us will see snow showers but it will be quite

:07:01. > :07:06.heavy around eastern Kent and at lower levels, mainly falling as snow

:07:07. > :07:10.-- rain and sleet. With temperatures below freezing, it could be an icy

:07:11. > :07:18.start to Saturday morning. Looking grey with further showers, and

:07:19. > :07:23.feeling really cold. Just two or three degrees with a wind chill as

:07:24. > :07:27.well. Sunday, a similar sort of day, starting with sleet and rain showers

:07:28. > :07:31.but brightening up by the course of the afternoon. Not quite as cold.

:07:32. > :07:32.Temperatures at 46 degrees. I'll leave you

:07:33. > :07:37.exception to that rule probably over the hills where again there could be

:07:38. > :07:44.a bit of snow, but not accumulating. Another cold

:07:45. > :07:49.However I paint this weekend's picture, I'll need a palette of

:07:50. > :07:53.grey. Thereby a a lot of cloud around but I managed to find some

:07:54. > :07:58.sunshine. I don't know how but there was a couple of hours towards the

:07:59. > :08:02.south-west in Cornwall, a beautiful day. The south-west saw glimpses of

:08:03. > :08:07.sunshine. Further east, cloudy, cold and grey with winds off the North

:08:08. > :08:11.seep and a scattering of wintry showers. Yes, rain sleet and snow, a

:08:12. > :08:18.dusting at lower levels through the day. It brought this beautiful

:08:19. > :08:19.picture on the outskirts of Aberdeenshire. But enough
