:00:00. > :00:00.Today's main headlines in the South East:

:00:07. > :00:09.ASLEF train drivers reject the latest deal over driver only

:00:10. > :00:18.We'll be live in Seaford with the latest.

:00:19. > :00:22.The moment two ruthless criminals were arrested for pouring boiling

:00:23. > :00:29.Stalked by a killer - the woman who says she wishes she'd

:00:30. > :00:32.gone to the police when Michael Lane harassed her, before

:00:33. > :00:45.I got messages saying, I can see you. I would look and see him

:00:46. > :00:52.outside my house. ASLEF train drivers have voted

:00:53. > :00:56.to reject the latest deal to end their long-running industrial

:00:57. > :01:00.action over driver only Today's ballot result will be

:01:01. > :01:04.seen as an embarrassment to union leaders -

:01:05. > :01:06.who'd recommended members It was a close result -

:01:07. > :01:13.but just over 50% said no. Now the management at Southern

:01:14. > :01:16.are seeking fresh talks with the union but it s not clear

:01:17. > :01:19.when, or if, they will take place. Meanwhile, the RMT union,

:01:20. > :01:22.which represents conductors, continue with their separate

:01:23. > :01:43.industrial action. Instead, the train drivers have

:01:44. > :01:47.rebelled against their own union leaders, plunging commuters back

:01:48. > :01:51.into uncertainty. They are not caring about the public. There are

:01:52. > :01:57.messing us around. It's about time they got back to work. It's about

:01:58. > :01:59.time they got back together and obviously they are trying but I am

:02:00. > :02:04.confused about why it is not possible. Is there something going

:02:05. > :02:11.on here and the suggestions have been made, but these are not about

:02:12. > :02:14.the issues at stake but a political campaign about the ownership of the

:02:15. > :02:18.railway and this is not the right way to proceed those issues. The

:02:19. > :02:23.central issue of the dispute has always been southern's plans to

:02:24. > :02:25.change the role of guards the on-board supervisors, giving drivers

:02:26. > :02:30.responsibility for operating the doors. Southern argue they will

:02:31. > :02:33.always aim to keep a second 50 person on board apart from in

:02:34. > :02:36.exceptional circumstances. The two exceptional circumstances. The two

:02:37. > :02:41.deals have focused on what those circumstances might be. The latest

:02:42. > :02:45.deal reduced that list of acceptable reasons for running a train with

:02:46. > :02:49.only the driver on board, lateness is no longer one of them. They also

:02:50. > :02:54.agreed to roll out improved CCTV cameras a year earlier and on-board

:02:55. > :02:57.supervisors were set to receive extra safety training. But the union

:02:58. > :03:03.whose own separate dispute continues argued this was basically the same

:03:04. > :03:11.deal in any envelope. This referendum result today proves that

:03:12. > :03:18.there is genuine concern among Aslef members and the executive are out of

:03:19. > :03:20.touch with reality persistently trying to renegotiate something

:03:21. > :03:23.which is unacceptable to their members. But aside said they are

:03:24. > :03:26.prepared to sit down together for new talks.

:03:27. > :03:28.Our reporter Leanne Rinne is in Seaford for us now, Leanne,

:03:29. > :03:41.You will remember in February when the last deal was rejected, it took

:03:42. > :03:45.three weeks for Southern Andrey Rublev to reach anyone but the night

:03:46. > :03:50.but sides have said they want to get back on the table and they want to

:03:51. > :03:54.hold new talks as soon as possible. Tomorrow the RMT union and Southern

:03:55. > :03:56.will be holding separate talks and the RMT are still planning to strike

:03:57. > :04:01.this Saturday which will coincide with the Brighton Marathon but here

:04:02. > :04:05.the night, people are particularly annoyed about the whole situation

:04:06. > :04:09.does you will remember earlier on during the strike action, there were

:04:10. > :04:13.not even any bus replacement services running from the station,

:04:14. > :04:15.completely cutting people off. The night passengers have told me a

:04:16. > :04:17.resolution cannot come soon enough. Two men who tortured

:04:18. > :04:19.a couple in their own home, pouring boiling water over them,

:04:20. > :04:22.have been given life sentences. Kacey Adams and Daniel Wallace

:04:23. > :04:24.were described by the judge They stole almost ?50,000

:04:25. > :04:30.from John and Janice Buswell They then were arrested after flying

:04:31. > :04:40.to Dubai to spend the money. Arrested while still

:04:41. > :04:49.on the plane on their way back from Dubai, Kacey Adams

:04:50. > :04:52.and Daniel Wallace had been spending money they had got through the most

:04:53. > :04:56.horrifying of burglaries. Today, there was every

:04:57. > :04:59.security surrounding the court as the two men described

:05:00. > :05:03.as ruthless animals prepared to use extreme violence started

:05:04. > :05:08.their life sentences. John and Janice Boswell,

:05:09. > :05:11.pictured here in happier times, But those attending

:05:12. > :05:16.had had their lives had been ruined by the physical and

:05:17. > :05:20.psychological damage they suffered. Attacked out of the blue

:05:21. > :05:26.in their own home, but horribly and did not even wait

:05:27. > :05:30.for an answer over where the safe was

:05:31. > :05:33.before emptying the kettle over Mrs The torture was carried out twice

:05:34. > :05:36.on her and once on her He said nobody listening

:05:37. > :05:40.could feel anything but horror It had been gratuitous violence

:05:41. > :05:43.and no reason at all which had The most horrifying

:05:44. > :05:50.events I've ever heard It is incredibly rare, it is

:05:51. > :05:54.a one-off, the officers were equally Mrs Boswell nearly

:05:55. > :06:01.died from her burns. Her husband also badly

:06:02. > :06:05.burned, said their lives Kacey Adams and Daniel

:06:06. > :06:10.Wallace were also jailed today for an unconnected shooting

:06:11. > :06:14.carried out jointly in Essex. Given three life

:06:15. > :06:17.sentences each, they will spend a minimum of 12

:06:18. > :06:21.and a half years behind bars. Our reporter Sara Smith

:06:22. > :06:33.joins me now, Sara, He said these men had left alive

:06:34. > :06:38.devastated because of their greed and their desire for money. They had

:06:39. > :06:40.not shown a whisper of remorse. They were arrested on their way home from

:06:41. > :06:44.Dubai where they had been spending Dubai where they had been spending

:06:45. > :06:50.the money. They were found with ?18,000 worth of designer clothes

:06:51. > :06:54.with them. We heard in court that the couple will never recover from

:06:55. > :06:57.what happened to them, physically or mentally, but the hope is the life

:06:58. > :06:59.sentences may at least give them some comfort.

:07:00. > :07:01.A woman who says she was stalked by Portslade murderer Michael Lane

:07:02. > :07:05.has told this programme she regrets not telling the police

:07:06. > :07:08.as she believes it would have prevented him from going on to kill

:07:09. > :07:13.Now 21, Ellie May, from Mile Oak, says she started to receive

:07:14. > :07:17.inappropriate contact from Lane when she was still a schoolgirl.

:07:18. > :07:22.Our Special Correspondent Colin Campbell has this exclusive report.

:07:23. > :07:26.You ain't going to believe me but it is up to you.

:07:27. > :07:29.A dangerous and obsessive man, Michael Lane murdered

:07:30. > :07:32.Shana Grice in August last year after a terrifying campaign of

:07:33. > :07:36.But it seems Shana wasn't the only women Lane had

:07:37. > :07:40.There were points where I didn't want to leave my

:07:41. > :07:44.house because he lived so close to me and I did get messages saying,

:07:45. > :07:46."I can see you," you know, and I would

:07:47. > :07:49.look at the window and I could see him parked outside my house.

:07:50. > :07:51.And he would send me pictures of my own

:07:52. > :07:54.Ellie says Michael Lane first started to harass her

:07:55. > :07:57.when she was a ten-year-old Girl Guide.

:07:58. > :08:00.When she was a teenager, she says he sent her sexually explicit

:08:01. > :08:05.It just said if I pay for a night in a hotel and then I give

:08:06. > :08:09.you some money, will you let me do what I want to you?

:08:10. > :08:13.In unsettling, unsolicited text messages, Lane

:08:14. > :08:18.He also told her she was gorgeous and that

:08:19. > :08:23.her boyfriend was lucky to wake up next to her in the morning.

:08:24. > :08:25.He is serving a life sentence for killing

:08:26. > :08:28.Shana, he stalked her for a year, even attaching a tracking

:08:29. > :08:32.She had reported him to the police on five

:08:33. > :08:36.During one complaint, Sussex Police issued Shana with a

:08:37. > :08:40.fixed penalty notice for wasting police time.

:08:41. > :08:42.The judge's comments were very clear, I think, for the

:08:43. > :08:45.court to hear that there may well be systemic failings within Sussex

:08:46. > :08:50.Ellie regrets not telling the police what she knew about Lane.

:08:51. > :08:55.I wish I had because I possibly could have stopped what happened.

:08:56. > :08:59.Many, many homicides, if you track back, will follow

:09:00. > :09:04.So don't brush it off, take it seriously

:09:05. > :09:06.because it could be something a lot more sinister

:09:07. > :09:11.Another target of Michael Lane's, Ellie, says she came forward to

:09:12. > :09:15.urge other stalking victims to contact the police,

:09:16. > :09:26.Hastings Pier has been voted Pier of the Year

:09:27. > :09:30.The Victorian structure was hit by a devastating fire in 2010

:09:31. > :09:33.but it re-opened last year following a ?14.2 million

:09:34. > :09:48.The weather is next. It was a beautiful day today with

:09:49. > :09:54.highs of 18 degrees. Still not mist and fork alongside the long post. As

:09:55. > :09:57.we go through the first part of this evening, we will see this cloud that

:09:58. > :10:01.has been mostly out of the west of us today and eventually the early

:10:02. > :10:06.hours of tomorrow morning, we will rain moving in from the west which

:10:07. > :10:10.will turn heavy at times. Overnight temperatures dropped to around six

:10:11. > :10:15.or 7 degrees. Still quite misty along the coast as we start Tuesday.

:10:16. > :10:20.Eventually we will see the effects of high pressure but for us

:10:21. > :10:24.tomorrow, it is a wet and disappointing day. The rain during

:10:25. > :10:27.the morning is heavy at times. During mostly by the afternoon but

:10:28. > :10:31.still leaving a lot of cloud cover around and temperatures down on the

:10:32. > :10:37.day, ranging between 11 and 13 degrees. Tuesday and into Wednesday,

:10:38. > :10:42.we will see the effects of that high pressure eventually clear skies and

:10:43. > :10:46.with lighter winds, against the mist and fog around with temperatures

:10:47. > :10:51.slightly cooler at around three or 4 degrees. A chilly start from any on

:10:52. > :10:54.Wednesday. Misty and buggy first thing but lots of brightness by the

:10:55. > :10:59.afternoon. A similar debut Thursday as well. For Friday and as we look

:11:00. > :11:01.towards the weekend, temperatures creeping up to 18 or 19 degrees.

:11:02. > :11:03.Here's the outlook for is remaining settled. It will feel

:11:04. > :11:15.fairly warm and dry as well. Good evening. Some rain spreading in

:11:16. > :11:19.across the Atlantic overnight. As it does so we will see some fresh

:11:20. > :11:26.Atlantic air following on from behind. The pollen levels will drop

:11:27. > :11:31.but the temperatures will also drop. Some rain to go with the cloud. It

:11:32. > :11:35.is moving its way from west to east. Drying up in not an island and

:11:36. > :11:36.eventually it will dry up in most of
