:00:27. > :00:29.washed-up rubbish is becoming more serious than ever.

:00:30. > :00:32.And it's been another dry, bright day with sunshine,

:00:33. > :00:52.There's been a call tonight from one of our MPs for a change in the law,

:00:53. > :00:54.after we revealed how vulnerable young people in the south-east

:00:55. > :00:58.are putting themselves at risk by taking rent-free accomodation

:00:59. > :01:02.Landlords are placing adverts on websites like Craigslist

:01:03. > :01:08.They don't break the law, because no money changes hands.

:01:09. > :01:10.Our reporter Lauren Moss spoke to a student in Brighton

:01:11. > :01:13.who was fleeing an abusive home life, and says she felt she had

:01:14. > :01:20.no choice but to accept an offer of sex for rent.

:01:21. > :01:24.I had no idea what I was getting into.

:01:25. > :01:29.He took me into to his living room, got me drinks, and then after that,

:01:30. > :01:32.it was straight upstairs and go for it.

:01:33. > :01:36.Vulnerable and desperate for a roof over her head,

:01:37. > :01:42.Gemma answered a sex-for-rent online advert.

:01:43. > :01:47.He would do what he wanted to do, forcefully.

:01:48. > :01:52.And I just sort of, yeah, went along with it.

:01:53. > :01:57.I started feeling physically unwell.

:01:58. > :01:59.These are some of the offers we found openly placed

:02:00. > :02:06.Free accommodation, but with strings attached.

:02:07. > :02:08.I was thinking once a week, something like that,

:02:09. > :02:12.but I'm happy as long as there is sex involved.

:02:13. > :02:15.I spoke with six men posting adverts in the south-east.

:02:16. > :02:19.All wanted photos of me before they would talk on the phone.

:02:20. > :02:22.All were clear how the arrangement would work.

:02:23. > :02:25.These are real conversations, voiced by actors.

:02:26. > :02:30.Well, you know, you agree sort of like, a couple times a week?

:02:31. > :02:34.But as far as the apartment's concerned,

:02:35. > :02:36.it's like completely as if we are flatmates.

:02:37. > :02:42.There's a girl staying here now who has done the same.

:02:43. > :02:43.Two or three times a week, basically.

:02:44. > :02:48.But some say those agreeing to these deals

:02:49. > :02:52.could be getting into a very dangerous situation.

:02:53. > :02:55.Where people are in really desperate, vulnerable

:02:56. > :02:59.situations in terms of housing and financial need, it could lead

:03:00. > :03:02.to someone feeling trapped and being a prisoner somewhere

:03:03. > :03:09.In just one day, I counted well over 100 adverts on

:03:10. > :03:12.Craigslist offering free accommodation in exchange for

:03:13. > :03:16.In Maidstone, one man was asking for a

:03:17. > :03:19.woman to move in with him and pretend to be his girlfriend.

:03:20. > :03:22.Another, in Rochester, a double room in exchange

:03:23. > :03:30.In Brighton, one advert was specifically aimed at young men.

:03:31. > :03:33.And, disturbingly, this is perfectly legal.

:03:34. > :03:36.I think these adverts go as close to the edge of the law

:03:37. > :03:39.as they possibly can without breaking the law.

:03:40. > :03:41.They would argue that they have chosen,

:03:42. > :03:43.voluntarily, to enter that situation.

:03:44. > :03:48.The trouble is, when you have a vulnerable person, that can

:03:49. > :03:54.then becomes exploited, the concept of choice soon disappears.

:03:55. > :03:57.One third of young homeless people in the south-east say they have

:03:58. > :04:02.spent the night with a stranger just to get off the streets.

:04:03. > :04:04.It really is very troubling to hear that people

:04:05. > :04:09.are out there preying on these vulnerable young people.

:04:10. > :04:12.Do you think there should be a law brought in

:04:13. > :04:15.If maybe we start with the advertisers to say,

:04:16. > :04:18.is there a voluntary code you could abide by, to take

:04:19. > :04:22.Maybe if they aren't willing to do this, then maybe MPs

:04:23. > :04:30.will want to look into the issue in the House of Commons.

:04:31. > :04:34.There are particularly young people who are being exploited because they

:04:35. > :04:41.are vulnerable. There is an added bonus on the platforms of to reach

:04:42. > :04:44.this out and deal with it. I'm being explicit because if they don't deal

:04:45. > :04:45.with this and accept the responsible to come I will push legislation to

:04:46. > :04:48.do it for them. I contacted Craigslist

:04:49. > :04:49.for comment, but they More adverts are

:04:50. > :04:58.appearing every day. They could basically just

:04:59. > :05:00.come over to you and and you really don't have much

:05:01. > :05:04.of a choice, because you know it is their home and you want

:05:05. > :05:07.to just keep that place. With an increasing number of young,

:05:08. > :05:10.homeless people, it is feared that these adverts will only

:05:11. > :05:11.continue to exploit Well, I'm joined now

:05:12. > :05:24.in the studio by Lauren, Throughout the day, the Home Office

:05:25. > :05:28.answers please happened responding? Yes, the Home Office responded

:05:29. > :05:30.tonight. They say, nobody should feel obliged to have sex with anyone

:05:31. > :05:34.other than by choice. Sussex Police other than by choice. Sussex Police

:05:35. > :05:37.are also getting. They are urging anyone who thinks they might have

:05:38. > :05:41.been a victim of sexual exploitation to contact them. Charities are

:05:42. > :05:44.warning that agreeing to these sorts of arrangements can have serious,

:05:45. > :05:49.damaging effect on mental health. Postmaster stress disorder and

:05:50. > :05:52.depression. This focuses on the issue of consent and choice, and the

:05:53. > :05:57.power imbalance between a mumbled and the fear of losing your home if

:05:58. > :05:58.you don't keep your end of the bargain. -- power imbalance between

:05:59. > :06:05.a landlord Andy Tennant. The problem of plastic

:06:06. > :06:07.waste on our beaches is becoming worse than ever,

:06:08. > :06:09.according to campaigners. Cuckmere Haven in East Sussex has

:06:10. > :06:11.been particulary badly hit, as our Environment Correspondent,

:06:12. > :06:13.Yvette Austin, discovered From bags and bottles to tiny

:06:14. > :06:18.broken pieces, littering one of the region's most famous

:06:19. > :06:21.beauty spots, Cuckmere Haven. A high tide has dumped

:06:22. > :06:23.an enormous amount of small, Really quite nasty things, that

:06:24. > :06:30.if they get into animals and fish, It constantly goes

:06:31. > :06:36.through my mind, Or, the other thing I think is that

:06:37. > :06:44.everything I pick up is a piece that isn't going

:06:45. > :06:48.to get inside a creature. Plastic waste is a global problem,

:06:49. > :06:51.and when it does get into creatures,

:06:52. > :06:55.very few can be saved. This albatross chick

:06:56. > :06:59.in the Pacific was lucky. All this plastic rubbish

:07:00. > :07:01.was picked up here by half a dozen people in about

:07:02. > :07:04.half an hour. It's thought 8 million

:07:05. > :07:07.tonnes of plastic enters with an estimated 46,000 pieces

:07:08. > :07:15.of plastic litter per square mile. And a single plastic

:07:16. > :07:16.bottle can take more It's particularly bad

:07:17. > :07:22.here because of the way it's trapped in this

:07:23. > :07:26.sort of river mouth. But it doesn't go anywhere,

:07:27. > :07:29.it just gets smaller, and It's a very important spawning

:07:30. > :07:33.and nursery ground for a lot of fish, lobsters, and rare species

:07:34. > :07:35.like blue mussels and So lots of plastic

:07:36. > :07:40.litter will obviously be having an impact on those delicate

:07:41. > :07:42.and rare, It's a global threat that

:07:43. > :07:51.will last for generations. On the eve of Good Friday,

:07:52. > :07:53.the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, has said

:07:54. > :07:56.that we musn't let terrorists chain us with, as he put it,

:07:57. > :08:00."a desire for revenge". The Archbishop also addressed

:08:01. > :08:03.whether it were possible to forgive Khalid Masood,

:08:04. > :08:06.who grew up in Kent and Sussex, and went on to kill five people

:08:07. > :08:08.in the terrorist attack The terrorists succeed

:08:09. > :08:14.when they chain us with fear, with hatred and with

:08:15. > :08:18.a desire for revenge. But pastorally, you don't go up

:08:19. > :08:25.to someone who has just lost someone they loved or has been

:08:26. > :08:29.terribly injured, and say, "No, you're going to do

:08:30. > :08:31.the forgiveness stuff." You stand alongside

:08:32. > :08:35.them, you share their grief, Our reporter Briohny Williams

:08:36. > :08:44.is at Canterbury Cathedral now. Briohny, the Archbishop spoke

:08:45. > :09:01.about the way that different faiths Yes, John. He said just a couple of

:09:02. > :09:04.days afterwards he met with leaders of different faiths to stand against

:09:05. > :09:09.extremism and safety people that they really need to be the glue that

:09:10. > :09:12.holds society together. He also took the opportunity to reiterate the

:09:13. > :09:14.church's stance to abuse allegations.

:09:15. > :09:17.But I do know that we are profoundly aware of the danger now,

:09:18. > :09:20.and we are very, very tough with anyone

:09:21. > :09:22.who steps over the line and will go on being so.

:09:23. > :09:30.And we are stepping up our approach continually.

:09:31. > :09:41.Most of his message was about help and unity this Easter. -- hope and

:09:42. > :09:42.unity. There is a good going on, just one of many services that will

:09:43. > :09:47.take place this weekend. We'll have the national weather

:09:48. > :09:50.forecast in a moment, but first, let's get

:09:51. > :09:52.the weather here. And a lovely morning today,

:09:53. > :10:03.and a treat for steam train fans? Yes, we were lucky enough to have

:10:04. > :10:08.the Flying Scotsman. Temperatures around 13 degrees at Sheffield Park.

:10:09. > :10:12.Blue skies and it remained dry, editors there for another six days.

:10:13. > :10:17.So lovely weather to catch this stunning site. Going to tonight,

:10:18. > :10:22.looking pretty cloudy at times, temperatures will drop to six or 7

:10:23. > :10:27.degrees. But we will see some clear spells to give some brighter spells.

:10:28. > :10:30.But there is a weak front looking around and it may introduce some

:10:31. > :10:34.more clout throughout the afternoon. But I am still hopeful we'll keep

:10:35. > :10:41.some breaks in the cloud. A bit more clear skies, and it should lead to

:10:42. > :10:49.13 or 14 degrees. A little cooler where it is cloudy, at 11 or 12.

:10:50. > :10:54.Patchy rain to Friday night and Saturday morning, but it should

:10:55. > :10:56.clearly, so by Saturday afternoon, a called north-westerly breeze but

:10:57. > :10:57.much drier and brighter and temperatures around 11 to 12

:10:58. > :11:04.degrees. We will keep you updated. Now with

:11:05. > :11:09.the National Outlook, Tomasz Schafernaker.

:11:10. > :11:10.Good evening. It's not exactly cracking whether
